what about annealing the metal to make for easy forming, then heat treating it back to 2024-T3?

Anyone who's performed extensive metal forming knows that these guys are really amateur. Even looking at medieval armour recreation on youtube and you'll see more professional work. And they're not even making things that peoples lives will depend on.
