Let's give Addie a round of applause for facing her childhood trauma of Ghostface and for surviving Scream (1996). 👏👏 This is my all-time favorite horror film, alongside Halloween (1978), because of how it deconstructs the genre as a whole. That's what makes it a fun not-so-scary horror comedy in my book. Even though I've seen and enjoyed horror movies that are scarier than this one, I would STILL recommend this film series to anyone that's easing into the horror genre, without getting too scared. You should DEFINITELY continue with its five sequels. #ScreamSequelsForAddieCounts My favorite part of the movie will always be when Randy Meeks explains the rules of surviving a horror movie because you can't survive one if you don't follow the rules. I also have the blood pump Ghostface mask that you were talking about at the beginning. BTW, nice sweater. At the beginning, you listed that you hate horror movies, three times. And at 15:15-15:34, Ollie howls "Boo!", at 15:45, YEE-HAW, Addie, and at 35:45, now THAT'S an Addie scream.

20:11 Stu's "creepy face" as he's standing behind Randy and facing Billy is actually a great piece of acting by Matthew Lillard I never noticed before. It's like he knows only Billy can see him so he lets the mask drop. I wonder if that was specific direction or if that was his own interpretation. Either way, still great.

The school janitor "Fred" is Wes Craven himself, wearing Freddy Krueger's costume from A Nightmare on Elm Street as a little inside joke. BTW, the principal was played by Henry Winkler, who was best known for playing a kind-hearted "greaser" in the sitcom Happy Days, which was set in the 50s. I also have to comment on how unrealistic the video delay is. I know it's for dramatic effect, but I don't see any feasible way that could happen.

"How can you kill Drew Barrymore? That's just rude." 😂😂 Oh dear, sweet Addie, I was both excited to watch your reaction to this, and worried for your well-being. Your hands game was absolutely on point in this video!! 😅 There were a couple fun cameos in this movie: the news woman who asks Sydney what it felt like to almost be butchered is Linda Blair, who played the girl in "The Excorcist," and the janitor in the school hallway dressed like Freddy Krueger from "A Nightmare on Elm Street" is Wes Craven, who directed both that movie and this one. Also, uncredited as the school principal is Henry Winkler, who is legendary for playing The Fonz on "Happy Days." I'm very much looking forward to you reacting to the sequels! You may not be looking forward to it, but I am. 😂

Hey Addie . I envy you seeing this for the 1st time, When this movie came Drew Barrymore was the biggest star in the movie , Neve.( Sydney) was still known for a TV series called Party of 5 and it shocked the audience to have a big star of Drew's status killed off at the start. The meta of Randy telling Jamie Lee Curtis Laurie to look behind her while Ghostface is behind him is the actor is Jamie Kennedy. Enjoy the series

The great thing about Scream was it was so self aware, in that it even though it is a serious subject it constantly refers to old Horror films and makes reference to the plot of them etc. It also spawned superb sequels, each on of them is great too and well worth a watch. You gotta do the sequels, the writing is just so clever.

Neve Campbell in this movie was sooo HOT and GORGEOUS. A fun fact of the movie it´s that Courteney Cox (Gale Weathers) and David Arquette (Dewey), had a romance in the real life, like in the film, and were married and had a daughter.

It makes sense when we get to the end and realize that Billy and Stu needed her to make it to the end for their story and big reveal. They wanted that scene in the kitchen to reveal their plan and frame her dad. So all the rest of the attacks were just "for show"

This one basically resurrected the dying horror genre when it came out. It managed to make fun of the tropes of horror films and all the cliches that had killed it off... while using them in the actual horror film happening in the movie. It's extremely well done, and killing Barrymore when she was on all the marketing material, was utterly brilliant.

Addie counts Several scenes made either Billy or Stu look more suspicious than they are Billy turns up the radio during the exorcist talk both to hide his voice from Mr.Prescott and to prevent Sidney from hearing Stu knocking him out Stu is seen checking his forehead for a bruise from either Casey hitting him with the phone or head butting Sidney during the scene in the school hallway Billy appearing from the side and giving Stu a look after Tatum is killed

I didn't catch this when first watching it, but I love the extra in the background at the video store. When Randy says "There is always a reason to kill your girlfriend" she immediately perks up and starts glancing around as if she is wondering if anyone else is hearing this crazy person. I'm not sure if she was directed to act like that, or if she just went rogue for attention, but she steals the scene! XD

Now you're ready for "Scary Movie". This has been called a horror movie / comedy. It really is funny to those with a dark sense of humor and twisted minds. LOL Matthew Lillard can play a psycho so well, but he was also Shaggy in the live action Scooby Doo which he was perfect. There is a parody of a number of movies called "Screech If You Know What I Did on Last Saturday the 14th".

So, a lot of people take Rose McGowan's character (Tatum) to task for being stupid enough to think she could fit through that cat flap. But she actually could, her shirt had to be nailed to the frame so she didn't fall out. I worked in a movie theater when the film had its second theatrical run, and I caught pieces of it on break. One of those was Tatum's death, and someone actually walked to the back and stood at the door, facing the wall, breathing hard, because it was so tense and scary. Once she was stuck in that door and the button was hit, her death was inevitable, and she had what felt like forever to see it coming and realize there was nothing she could do to stop it. Brrr.

Congrats on facing a childhood trauma, Ghostface. I can't believe that THAT is what they call that Mask. But, it is one of the most recognizable and Popular Halloween Mask, EVER. I like these movies. This movie was Wes Craven pointing a mirror back at the horror movies he helped create and inspire others to create. He did something similar around this time with his own franchise Nightmare on Elm St called New Nightmare. They went after Drew Barrymore's character because she sat next to Sidney in English class. It was an indirect way of getting under Sidney's skin. Although, Casey dumping Stu for Steve probably helped cement their fates.

Sydney's boyfriend's name is Billy Loomis, he is named after Dr. Loomis from the Halloween film that you watched recently. And Sydney's last name in the film is Carpenter, named after the director of that film John Carpenter.

So Randy was right about Stu's motive. He dated Casey but she dumped him for Steve. Principle was to empty the party. Everyone else was to make it look random/get rid of witnesses. One of the genius moves by Wes Craven was you can tell which killer it was for each kill by the fact they were using different hands for stabbing. Casey is killed by Stu.

That's not true about the killer. Craven, himself, said he purposely left it ambiguous as to who killed whom. He wanted people to watch it and think either person could be doing the killings at any given time. With some obvious exceptions (like when Billy is "stabbed").

1. What I like most about doing this is watching people overthink it. Thank GOD for the twist ending. 2. Cell phones weren't prevalent in 1996. 3. This is a movie to watch if you want to have fun. 4. The principal was the Fonz/Henry Winkler. 5. Tatum/Rose McGowan has permission to sit on my face.😋😍 6. I love how the inept killer keeps getting his ass kicked🤣 7. They killed Casey Becker (Drew) because of "Revenge", as Casey had dumped Stu for Steve. Essentially, the targets were Casey/Steve for Stu and Sidney/her close family and friends for Billy. I understand more of why they targeted Casey and Sids' mom over Sidney herself.

Thank you for hanging in there and watching this movie. I like the fact that through the whole movie everyone is figuring that there's only one killer until the end when it's revealed that there's actually 2 killers. If you want to watch a Halloween movie that's not as scary then try watching "Monster Squad". It's an 80's movie that deals with the old classic monsters. The movie is rated PG-13. I won't say anything else about it so I won't spoil it if you decide to watch it.

Heyyy, it's time for more scary Addie-ventures!! I'm happy you got through this movie. What's even better is that you won't need to watch the sequels. Forgive me but I enjoyed Ollie scaring you and the long time needed counter! Whether it's "Yeps" or anything else I truly hope they're included in the future. My favorite being the "the the the..." from season one of The Mandalorian when you were trying to remember the name of beskar. The editing comments are what I live for. "Yeeehaw haw haw haw!" had me rolling. You look great with a cowboy hat. Take care of yourself, Addie!! Thank you for scaring mommy, Ollie!!

This one is a classic for a reason and has 6 movies so far. Drew asked to play the part that gets killed in the beginning and she had a blast doing so. Grate reaction Addie. when I first saw this one my house phone rang at the same time as the movie and that was a freaky moment for me but honostly this is my favorite one and the janitor in the hall way was a cameo of Wes Craven himself haha that was interesting rip Wes so sad. Glad you enjoyed this one.

As ive said on other channels i LOVE this franchise! i think you love with and should continue on with all six of the films!! They are great and do not sprout into multiple different timelines, its one straight story that all connects together! i really think you'll like it!
