As a mexican I never thought much about representation on screen of us and just kinda accepted we were gonna be a stereotype forever, and it felt so good to suddenly be represented by two badass women on the Scream franchise, especially from Melissa that I knew from mexican soap operas

Scream is one of the only horror/slasher movies that can genuinely keep going forever with the new killers new Survivors and new motives, with the same iconic costume and murder mystery themes it’s timeless. Really hope I can live my life seeing new scream movies every couple years

I like the difference between the Craven Ghostfaces and the Radio Silence Ghostfaces. The Craven films portrayed the killers as supernatural, allowing them to sneak around in the shadows quickly and quietly, while also acknowledging that they're still just people in costumes. The Radio Silence killers are portrayed more realistically. The supernatural element was fun for its time, but it became silly and dated after the 90s ended. The realism also allows the killers to be much more intimidating and brutal, which makes the build-up scenes, particularly in the climaxes, much more intense, especially after what Scream 6 introduced.

How did Craven portray the killers as “supernatural?” Weren’t the killers always clumsy and more human-like? Falling, grunting, getting knocked out for long periods of time, etc.

@ItsOnlyAbe Well not "magically" supernatural, but the way they figuratively brought Ghostface to life by taking advantage of the character the killers played. They messed with their victim's heads through the phone calls in order to shake them up and make them vulnerable, and the costume allowed them to blend in with the environment. Craven's killers were psychological in nature, and Radio Silence's killers were like attackers, which is why the New York setting works so well, because that's something that actually happens in real life. But yeah, they were also clumsy. That scene in Scream 2 where they run into the chair is hilarious. But it was a bit ridiculous when they were able to just disappear too quickly to the point where nobody notices (like after Sidney karate kicks him down in Scream 4), and reappear immediately somewhere else (Hallie's death, despite the existence of the construction wall).

@@OhanaDisney-jo3cu Most of the disappears and reappears are because they are two different people running around. Thats why there is often two killers. Its a play on the trope of horror movie villain's disappearing and repapering like Michael myers

@@doobzsalam1847 The Craven killers loved to mess with their victim's minds, even Roman says it to Sidney during their last call in Scream 3 ("How do you know I'm not someone in your head?"). That's why the Billy and Stu reveal works, because even if you already suspected one of them, you didn't expect BOTH of them.

Low and behold, it’s already 1 year old!!! You could call this entry the punk-rock b side of the franchise where part 5 was the greatest hits I’m happy to say that this is another worthy continuation of the series The kills are way more extreme and I'm liking this new cast mainly Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega and Jasmin Savoy Brown So happy Courtney Cox still has the edge as Gale Weathers, at one point someone says to her maybe she needs Ghostface in her life otherwise she’ll feel like she will fade away and be irrelevant although she does disappear for the rest of the movie The reveal is definitely higher than previous installments and there's dozens of cool callbacks to the older movies pleasing long time fans The climax is also quite the throwback to ‘Scream 2’ which made me happy since it’s still one of my favorite sequels That 2 hours breezes by pretty well and they make a funny inside reference to another slasher icon taking place in NYC It’s not enough to kill anybody anymore you have to completely assassinate their character, it’s easy to see the best in people but it’s so much easier to see the absolute worst, the internet can be just as toxic turning even a victim into the villain, can the spawn of a murderer become just like them? 6 movies in and Oplin and Gillett continue to deliver the goods mixing bloody kills with meta-horror movie tropes Anxious for part 7 how they can step it up even further

I love how Ghostface went from a normal person killer who would fall down, slip, and try to kill there victims, to being a total badass who actually has experience in fighting, also not sloppy, and way more fight ready.

I live in Wilmington NC and I remember when they were filming. It was cool driving by and seeing them shoot and then find that scene in the movie. The cast were out and about just like any other tourist. They film so much here it's not uncommon to see actors/celebrities in Target or a restaurant.

I mean yeah, the movie was great. I love scream, i love the idea of putting a killer in a place in the society close to the protagonists. Letting the audience ramble who could be the killer. One thing i dont understand is to WHY make the movie have political takes, but so the behind the scenes aswell. Im trans myself, yet still i think movies arent the place to put political statements. Im sorry for all the people who witnessed other people behaving like shit cuz of peoples color, peoples sexuality, peoples differences to one another. And of course EVERY human matters, "you better put this in cuz its true". Yes it is, still it doesnt give you the right to say whats in the video and whats not. If they decided not to they wouldve been a 100% canceled. Like holy fuck, what world do we live in? And thats one of the things i fucking HATE about the LGBT-community, yet still people ask me why im distancing myself from the LGBT-community EVENTHOUGH im trans. I dont wanna be embraced or fucking celebrated cuz im bi or cuz im trans. Im watching a movie cuz i wanna turn of the world for 1 or 2 hours, not cuz i wanna hear people debate the 19821739817th time about if people of sexuality, gender or color matter or not. OFC THEY DO!
