Landon didn't leave 7 weeks ago, he left Scream 7, weeks ago. So many people are reporting this wrong. He left after Barrera not before. He would have stayed if she did not get fired because that is where things began to unravel. He had no reason to leave until after Barrera being fired. "Weeks ago", not 7 weeks ago; clearly he's talking about Scream 7.
They fired Melissa. Jenna leaving on purpose (she's so close to Melissa). And the director just left too. Good job, Hollywood! I hope the next movie burned so hard when it's out 😂
@@MichaelNVADE Maybe? 🤷♀️ It's still depends on who the showrunners, directors, and writers will be. So far, the 5th and 6th movies had added elements from the actors and actresses input. Don't know how they will pull the next one.
Not a surprise, I got the feeling this movie fell apart month plus ago when the stars left the film. Maybe this will give the project a chance to rethink the script, budget, and maybe get some of the originals back instead of all reboot characters.
No big loss. Scream 5 and 6 were unwatchable for me. everyone would get severe injuries and walk around like it’s a minor injury. The characters were so unlikable and i just wanted ghost face to kill them.
@@General.Audience there was so many plot holes & stupid decisions in that film. SCREAM films are supposed to be clever. There was nothing clever about this film. Don't understand why so many praise it. It was a mess of a film.
I much preferred 6 to 5 so I would have been there for 7. But I'm actually okay with it not happening. Six films is plenty. I also agree with those saying the statement was awkward, and he left the seventh film "weeks ago" rather than leaving "seven weeks ago". It makes more sense that the whole restructuring of the film in the aftermath of the Ortega/Barrera debacle didn't go well and we're going to be fed the "creative differences" line in a few years.
Well probably would mean they had to redo entire script if they have to write both Ortega and Barrera character out, also means they would likely have to write entire new characters in form of Neve campbells children which I think would be only direction left to go and her for continuity. But honestly would be fine if last movie was the final, to me it makes no sense to make further movies outside of profits. Feel like it kinda died in a sense with death of Gail, since she seemed to be driving force for the franchise in sense their her coverage of murders and books been large part in driving the movie universe internal franchise of stab. I guess while it probably could go on without stab being part of it or only stabs that been made up until last movie it also probably wouldn't be the same, as big part of things were usually stab universe.
Talk about misreading that statement over and over: it's called Scream 7 and he left it weeks ago.... Not 7 weeks ago *face palm* ...or am I reading that wrong?!
Theres so much ass-covering by all the companies involved that we'll never know the actual timeline of events.. But the same people that all of a sudden got busy telling everybody and their grandmother about them knowing about Jenna leaving beforehand.. well, those same sources were touting her as returning (albeit for a smaller role) in Scream 7 not a month before it was announced that she left.
i started to watch the latest one on Netflix and only got 20mins in, it is unwatchable. Shame as I had fond memories of my teenage years watching the early Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer movies...some things are just best left alone after all.
I think Barrera's really just anti-genocide and anti-ethnic cleansing, Spyglass misinterpreted her stance with Palestine as Anti-Semitism, which isn't true. She in actuality is more neutral than that and questioned the validity of news coverage only from one viewpoint rather than both, also stating she wanted the violence to stop as any rational person would so people stop dying. They acted like she was calling for destruction of Israel, which none of her quotes online reflect that. She got fired for being rational in this irrational world unfortunately.
So are we just not allowed to recast them. Back in the day when somebody would like leave or die and you would recast them so you could keep the story going
The spyglass film studio is becoming like Warner Bros which ruined film franchises, lied many times and defended the young man who committed crimes, assaulted women and caught on footage, etc and it resulted them losing billions of dollars due to their movies failing at the box office which they deserved.
I’m probably the only one that thinks the scream sequels were mediocre, all of them! I love the original, one of the best horror films. So kinda laughing at all this 😂
Man, I feel awful for Landon. I think he would've made a perfect Scream movie. Also, I was on the Scream side of Twitter when this all went down and I felt sick seeing so many modern Scream stans getting pissed at him for not saying anything earlier (guess Twitter forgot NDAs exist) and when a rumour started to pop up that he stepped down as director due to one Scream stan (who I was actually mutuals with before I said that their idea of "Richie (the second killer in Scream 5) killed no-one" led to me being blocked and them making a tweet indirectly lumping me in people who hate Melissa Barerra and "toxic Scream fans", a lot of people were cheering on that person, even after Landon stated that even his damn KIDS were threatened. It was such dreadful behaviour from them.
Scream Twitter really that bad? I've had similar experiences with the Kaiju and Transformers fandoms on Twitter. It seems like Twitter groups bring the worst out of people.
I seem to be in the minority…but I want more Scream. The franchise is bigger than any of the cast. I like Jenna & Melissa, but I don’t watch a Scream movie for them. I loved Neve but even she isn’t necessary.
The newer movies were better than mid in my opinion. Scream is one of the only horror franchises with consistently decent entries. If they continue with 7 then it will most likely be the first bad entry and I don’t want that. So I say just end the franchise as well.
Just take a break from it for a couple years then come back after all all the political nonsense is cooled down and make a film with all the same actors and Director.
As a massive Scream fan, I'm perfectly fine with this, really I'm only sad that we aren't getting Christopher Landon to direct, which sucks immensely. The studio can finally focus on a decent script, since Scream 5 and 6 were pretty undercooked, especially 6. We can definitely move past the Carpenter sisters and focus on something else, the franchise has already done this before, with Scream 4, the MTV series and the most recent reboot/sequel films. All the Twitter/X stans really exposed themselves as fake fans since they only really cared about Jenna Ortega and Melissa Barrera, and nothing really about the rest of the franchise. Hopefully Scream 7 will be good, but for me it's still just Wes Craven's original 4 movies. And honestly, I don't think we need these many Scream movies to begin with.
As a massive Scream, I don't really find the news to be all that concerning. If anything, the studio can actually work and out together a decent script, and try to move away from the Carpenter sisters and try something new. Scream has done this about 3 times now, with Scream 4, the MTV series and this pseudo reboot/sequel with 5 & 6. I'm sure the franchise will be fine without Jenna Ortega and Melissa Barrera. For all the "fans" who won't watch Scream because they won't have those 2 actresses in them, they you weren't fans to begin with. Scream is Ghostface and Neva Campbell's Sidney Prescott. Seriously, all the fake Twitter/X stans really outed themselves as fake fans over this whole drama lol.
"Then you weren't fans to begin with" I'm pretty sure you don't understand the situation at all... I'm part of this franchise since the first one but I won't watch the next one and it has two major reasons: 1. I won't support a studio who fires their lead actress because she spoke up against genocide. 2. I loved the new movies and I want them to finish this storyline. Until then I honestly don't care who will be in the next one and what will be its story and they can just do this again.
