The way Scream is one of the longest franchises ever and has yet to have a bad film is impressive. We all obviously have our favorites and least favorite but Scream deserves credit. It stays very consistent throughout all of the films which is just so fucking incredible.

The thing I love most about Scream is that they created this really loveable friendship group. As a horror fan, you could imagine hanging out with them all, so it makes Tatum's death extra upsetting, and Stu and Billy being the killers feels like a betrayal. I guess you just really get put in Sidney's shoes, which makes her survival all the more fulfilling to see. Also, I love Randy, and I'm still mad about what happens to his character! 😛

I was 16 in 1996 and watched Scream three times in the theater with friends it was so good

I can not appreciate you enough for bringing up Kenny's "My names not Jesus" line! I really wish Mindy would have used it in Scream bc the amount of times Amber or Chad were shouting "Jesus!!" at her 😭 also Kylie, thank you for continuing to bless us with substantial horror content ❤️‼️ there's nothing more satisfying than resonating with someone's thoughts and passions regarding this genre!

AHHHHHH this history class was EVERYTHING !!!! I can’t wait for the rest , especially scream 4 !!! Omg I personally didn’t know scream had some creeps on production . Also, so many great meta callbacks and references. Casey Becker’s parents saying “Go to the Mckenzies” just like Laurie did in Halloween. The principal referring to Wes Craven as “Fred” while wearing a Freddy sweater and then of course Randy saying “Jamie, look behind you” in reference to Jamie Lee Curtis but it also could work since Jamie Kennedy is the actor’s name, too.

I was 20 when this was released in cinema and got to watch it for free at work as I worked in my local cinema. This film never gets old 😊👍🐾💜

I love how Stu as Ghostface is way more ass kickable. He’s clumsy and even makes noise. He’s a terrible serial killer. When Billy took over while harassing Sidney in the car, taunting her with the keys, that was a monster. Stu just stumbles around and barely gets the job done. It’s an awesome level of detail.

Omg, I loved this video, Kylie! Very good formatting- the way that you were able to move through the movie whilst giving behind the scenes info was very well done, it didn't feel choppy, rushed or anything like that. I'm so glad to see Gale and Tatum get some love! They're both in my top 5 (maybe even 3, along with Sidney) characters of the series I haven't seen either character get too much hate, but they're often forgotten or unfairly dismissed, and it's always really annoyed me. They both made such big impressions and marks on the series, and deserve so much more credit. Tatum is literally the blueprint of what every horror movie tries to make their iconic best friend like (and almost always fails) and Gale's wit and absolutely perfect character arc and progression is just absolutely unmatched. Also, they both have the coolest outfits haha I went to a near sold out double feature of scream 1 and 2 last October, and during the first movie, the entire audience laughed with and was reciting dialogue to literally every character but Tatum and Gale- I was so pressed lmao I think it's interesting that most people tend to like and dislike the same characters based on their personality/opinions of the series in general- for example, most people who would have Dewey, Randy, Kirby, Mickey, Billy and Stu as some of their favourites tend to not be as interested in/attached to characters such as Gale, Tatum, Jennifer, Jill, Amber, etc.

The constellation quote is my 3rd fave from the movie, and I tell that to everyone who will listen.

Awesome video, Kylie. Scream is my absolute favorite horror movie and I watch it every Halloween. I saw it probably when I was 7 or 8 and have watched it countless times since. So many great lines. “Liver alone,” “You hit me with the phone!” After Skeet accidentally him him for real and “My mom and dad are gonna be so mad at me!” I am glad someone enjoys Scream as much as I do! Also great soundtrack with the subtle “Don’t’ fear the reaper” when you first see Billy and then them always playing “Red Right Hand” each movie.

Scream was my first real cinematic horror experience. I'd only just turned 16, wasn't big on horror movies yet (I was a bit of a scaredy-cat), and went with a couple friends to see it opening night. I'd never seen a scary movie at the theatre, and the whole movie had me on the edge of my seat. After dropping my friends off on the way back I drove with the interior lights on in my car the whole way home, constantly checking the back seat to make sure no one was there. Scream pretty much made me a horror fan, and was the gateway drug I used to get my brother, who is 10 years younger than me, into horror as well. Whenever I go a few years without watching them the humor is what I remember, so it's always thrilling on rewatch to remember just how truly terrifying that first movie really is.

Yeah the OG mask was apart of the fantastic faces line by fun world and it came out in 1991. Ghost faces design is owned by fun world still….they are really strict about who makes product of the character. Fun world even tried to sue a NBA player for making references to Ghost Face

Scream does a good job of remaining "timeless" while also being a time capsule from the mid 90s with some examples like the wardrobes, having a video store, no use of caller ID (caller ID tripled after the film was released).. One moment that I always find fascinating is when the officer questions Billy why one would have a cellular phone.. Billy responds by saying that "everyone has one", but that is so inaccurate, I can assure you that cellphones were rare in 1996, especially for a kid in high school.. kids and teens back then all had pagers.. the use of cellphones actually aged well and seems normal when watching it now, but it really was rare for back then.. cellphones wouldn't become normal for everyone for another 3-4 years.. One thing I hate are scenes where they show Ghostface in weird places that make no sense for him to be.. like when Sidney and Tatum are at the convenience store and they show Ghostface lurking around, like WTF it's so bad.. I understand the point from a horror film trope standpoint, but we're supposed to believe Billy or Stu were in costume lurking around a small store stalking 2 girls in broad daylight with everything that's going on in the town? Lol horrible writing that insults viewers.. All of that being said, the original Scream is really the only one that I still love and would look forward to watching in 2023..

Scream is such a freaking AWESOME horror film that changed the genre. Without a doubt, Sidney Prescott is my favorite final girl in the series. Neve Campbell played the character stupendously. I still can't believe that this was one of the two 1996 horror films that she and Skeet Ulrich did together, with the other being "The Craft", which I have watched and LOVED as a kid. I'm a huge horror fan, Scream got me back into the slasher back in the mid 90s, great movie franchise.

I was in 6th grade when this came out , and all the cool kids had got to watch it. It was all anyone talked about. I finally rented it to stay in the loop. I was home alone, and no joke, the power went out right after the opening scene. I got a butcher knife and sat in the corner until my mom got home 😂. I still love these movies though. It’s the only slasher franchise that has yet to turn out a bad film, IMO anyway. I don’t think they’ll ever be able to top the original though

ok after a couple short comments i was compelled to document my live-reaction in a classic long comment: wow the weinsteins really almost ruined scream, what blockheads. glad everything came together as it did, such a great film and series! love to hear about healthy sets and kind directors... i feel like there's the kubrick/hitchcock cliche of a good director as a mean psycho control freak but the best directors are nice!! reminds me of the stories from the set of knives out, jamie lee curtis and co. never went in their trailers because everyone was having fun kickin it on set! good sets are like summer camp for adults. lmaoo the queen joke got me good, jokes are rippin in this!!! there is a series on paramount+ called the offer about the making of the godfather, i feel like the making of scream would be an interesting show or movie too! kismet! spoilers: the opening scene is just amazing. the performance over the phone going from like sort of seductive to full on black christmas vibes is perfectly built up. and of course drew crushed it. set up the whole franchise in a couple of minutes. how they build the the false hope with her performance, almost getting away, and then that silent scream is just brutal. i always hope she'll make it. and fuck harvey, the sweater look is icooooooonic!!! honestly i feel you on gale. i love sidney but her story has come full circle more than once. gale has a more satisfying arc that deserves a nice conclusion. opening scene is sooo packed with hints. i think upon rewatch it shows us how much we see what we want to see. matthew lillard's delivery is so iconic we love him instead of thinking he's the killer haha. and we don't want to think it's so obvious that billy is the killer. love that 90s gap-catalog comfy vibe haha yeah it's like so obvious it's not obvious-- kinda like an agatha christie novel! honestly not unlike like knives out/glass onion as they're all whodunit stories w metatextual depth! didn't really think of them as whodunits until they mentioned it in i think scream 5. or scream (2022) haha. go team dewey! i love a goofball and i feel like there's too many hyper competent male authority figure characters, he's a great subversion of an action hero protagonist kind of character. tatum's name calling is so sibling-y it's on point. and i feel like his relationship with gale is endearing, it's almost like they're both using each other a little but also helping the each other be more well-rounded. like dewey shows gale how to be less uptight and gale shows dewey how to be more mature kinda thing? though i guess some of that is like imagined rather than expressed in the films. Demented lol--- it's a later era John Waters movie I feel like you'd appreciate!! it's about a gang of rogue underground filmmakers committing crimes to create the ultimate cinematic experience! love the inclusion of the underrated lines and how in-depth you broke everything down!! this is dope! the comedy and chemistry is top notch "it's too reeddd" lmao those little extra lines are the best on a rewatch crazy to think there was a time before randy. love mindy and kirby. abed in community is great too, he's a super pop-culture savvy film major and knows he's in a tv show. the constellation line lollll that one got me hahaha the homoerotic subtext is cleeear as day, knives are peepees, that's like metaphors 101. also billy has a little bit of a james dean in rebel without a cause vibe, and that was like eeeeearly bi-panic/redefining masculinity in cinema. haven't seen that hottub vine since the stone age lol lmaoooo feat. francisco angel this post-burton era is already next level!! lol stu has the best lines when he's bleeding out damn randy is lowkey rockin the shaggy colors!! and goatee in scream 2!!! also mindy has the green and brown combo in scream 5! in the meta-est scene of all haha (the turn around scene) love the unexpected survivor end cap. i was almost convinced he was invincible at a certain point haha. very stoked for the upcoming scream content. recently re-watched em all and i've been writing- the subversion, jokes, and meta-ness is endlessly inspiring. dope video as always, the discourse thanks you for your contribution!!!
