I don't remember what episode of the Comedy Bang! Bang! podcast it is but they're on one together. Al remembered and honestly believed he was being too loud. Al is just an extremely nice guy. I think he also said that Paul wasn't the first person to sincerely call him "Weird."

From Denver Post: Al: I love Paul and that story is absolutely true. For years I thought Paul hated me because he never broke character and told me he was joking around! I thought I really ruined his recording and he hated me, and I found out later he was doing the whole thing as a bit in the show. I’ve since done his podcast and a bunch of stuff with him.

I remember loving one of this dude's specials on comedy central about two decades ago, couldn't remember his name but recognized the face in the thumbnail immediately. I will never ever forgive him for making me realize I will never one day have a house bear as a pet, been carrying that weight all these years and it's never going away.
