Most people don't realize tremors is an almost perfect movie. Every scene servers a purpose from the opening scene bringing up the idea of a stampede to the guy dieing on the power pole foreshadowing how the town gets trapped on the rocks later. Almost everything brought up pays off later in the movie. There is pretty much no filler or waste in the story. Anyone who is interested in script writing or film should honestly make an in depth study of this movie.

@vvargreymon_rus yeah, one of the few horror movies where everything makes sense outside of the monster. The monsters of course requires acceptance because they don't exist. But, everything else is close enough to realistic to not require it.
@LiGohan
@LiGohan 4 месяца назад
@@vvargreymon_rus That's one of my favorite parts. People make mistakes and ignorant decisions but no one is holding the traditional "idiot ball." A highlight moment for me is when Rhonda mentions there's more creatures and tries to explain it. They just believe her and work together. So many similar low(ish) budget monster movies would (and have, I've seen plenty) milk scenes like that for drama and tension. They'd have in-fighting with the town until the next attack and then they'd work together. With a hold out or two because some* filmmakers believe you "need" a human antagonist to humanize the story. Or something like that.

Ummm This is pretty wrong. Many 50+SPF sunscreens still use Zinc as the main mineral SPF ingredient. Zinc Oxide/titanium oxide paste was prefered over sunscreen and still is for people that have skin problems as its not emulsified with oils or chemicals so it doesn't absorb into the skin, and its biggest benefit for someone working outside all day... Unless you rub/sweat it completely off you don't need to reapply it because it is a physical protectant.

Burt Gummer is one of the classic characters of cinema franchises, at this point. LOL Oh...and the thing Reba was doing at 29:13 that you guys were wondering about is cleaning the brass casings from ammunition they had used so that the brass could be reused to make more ammunition. That machine is called a "brass tumbler" and you put the brass in with "seeds" that are meant to gently remove dirt or any powder residue from the brass when the bucket is shaken by an electric motor...and it obviously make a significant vibration. I was just going to say this! He ALWAYS loses (at rock, paper, scissors)! So much so that, even when he "wins", he Loses! LMAO. It wasn't until he was on the roof and decided to "ignore the rules of the game" (& the fact that he lost) and simply "took control" over his own life (instead of relying on "luck") and unilaterally decided to run for the Cat, that he actually WON! And succeeded in rescuing/ evacuating the town. Which is good for everyone, because Earl, being slower, would NOT have survived the run to the Cat.

It's also funny how Val attempts a lot of the cliche action movie tropes but ends up failing every time; jumps off the roof onto the awning and it collapses onto his ass, hits the graboid with the pickaxe and gets knocked over by it, grabs Mindy to save her and immediately falls over, etc. It's great little character moments like those that make this movie so fascinating to watch again and again. "I vote for outer space. No way these are local boys." LOL! My favorite line from a movie filled with great lines. I enthusiastically second the recommendations for Rain Man (1988), Raising Arizona (1987), and Strictly Ballroom (1992). Also, Earth Girls are Easy (1988), if only for the sheer zaniness of the movie, along with a chance to see some big-name stars in their early years. I would also add the generally overlooked Crossing Delancey (1988) to the list. And while it's outside of the time range you're asking for, I highly recommend Kramer Vs. Kramer (1979).

Another one of my favorite movies. I was 19 when this came out and I saw it twice at the theater where I was living at the time. When I first saw it, it made me think of the big bug movies from the 1950's I watched on TV when I was a little boy in the 70's. For me, the best of the big bug films is THEM! from 1954. A truly classic movie with Edmund Gwenn, who played Kris Kringle in the 1948 film Miracle On 34th Street, and James Arness, who would go on to play Marshal Matt Dillon on the long running Western series Gunsmoke. There was also a small scene with a young Leonard Nimoy several years before playing Spock on Star Trek. The character of Mindy in Tremors was played by Ariana Richards, who would go on to play Lex in the original Jurassic Park. What really made Tremors such a great movie for me was, among other things, the characters of Val and Earl and their dynamic. Kevin Bacon and the late Fred Ward, may he rest in peace(I still miss him) were amazing in their respective roles. They really were quite the pair. Thank you for another amazing reaction.

Pardon my French - one source[1] suggests that the phrase "derives from a literal usage of the exclamation. In the 19th century, when English people used French expressions in conversation they often apologized for it - presumably because many of their listeners (then as now) wouldn't be familiar with the language". You need to watch Tremors 2 and 3.

You're not going to find a lot of movies like Tremors, in all honesty. It just works so much better than it has any right to. Great characters (played by a whole host of wonderful character actors like Fred Ward, Victor Wong, and Michael Gross), incredibly tight writing, fun monsters, and an excellent blend of horror and comedy.

Hi Nick & Wen!😊 The little girl is Hammond's granddaughter from "Jurassic Park". The refrigeration unit in the store is actually filled with soda. The sound it made was from the compressor. I believe store owners could buy the fridge units cheaper by advertising a brand of soda on it. They pre-dated the modern wall units found in stores and supermarkets today. I believe the big gun in Burt's glass case was an elephant gun. Nice reactions to this fun monster movie that spawned many sequels, Kids!!!!🎬👏👏👏👏 "Night of the Creeps" (1986) is a fun film around this time period.😉

The second unit director of Tremors has a RU-vid Channel where he posted a bunch of home video his dad filmed during the production of the movie. The Channel is called Real Deal Productions, and he narrates the clips and explains some really fun stuff about how the movie was made. If you enjoyed Tremors, you’ll love his videos.

This is one of my favorite movies of all time. Just because it is such a good mix of action, scarry, and the right amount of comedy. The characters are great, good acting, and the special effects which off course before CGI, are all practical. There is a really great "Making of" documentary on youtube since youou were asking about the budget. It's really amazing how they did some off the effects.

Now I might not be remembering this correctly, but I could swear that I heard or read an interview with Kevin where he said at first, he hated this movie. He thought it would be his downfall etc. And later, over time, he changed his mind about it, and said the whole experience was one of his best movie making experiences he ever had. And he was grateful that it became a cult classic and has stood the test of time.

Underground god-damn monsters! I love Tremors, it's one of my favourite films. The monsters are dangerous but not unstoppable, with both the people and the Graboids learning about each other. It's a battle of wits with the people being pretty smart about it rather than the plot being driven by them being idiots. Also interesting as a rare horror film set almost entirely in bright sunlight. The sequels are great too, definitely worth watching too, and even the TV series is fun, even if it's a bit wackier than the films.

Dirt is in fact a very good bullet stop. Many rural gun ranges use high dirt berms at the far end of the the range for this reason. Similarly, many people who regularly target shoot rurally will have a good dirt berm for additional bullet stop. Also, this is why Burt has a .50 cal anti-tank solid bronze bullet in Tremors 2. Graboids and their permutations start out kinda dumb, but do grow in intelligence as they mature. This resets on each cycle, though. Dumb dirt dragon>smart dirt dragon>dumb graboid>smart graboid>dumb shriekers>smart shriekers>dumb assblasters>smart assblasters>eggs>repeat. The second one at Burt's place didn't know the truck was their transportation. It was just roaming around and happened to nudge the truck in such a way that it set off the alarm, which is why it attacked the truck. Noises = probable food sources.

29:13 *"she making explosion I think"* 😂😂🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ No, that's not what she's doing. That's not what that is. What?! LOL That machine is called a *Case Cleaner/Vibratory Case Polisher/Shell Case Polisher.* One of the steps for reloading cartridges involves brass cartridge case polishing. Polishes to remove *burns, gunpowder marks, and dirt,* while restoring the casing to its pre-fired shine. It's a device that cleans empty, fired casings of ammunition. Agitates empty brass cases in a mildly abrasive medium. And that is not dirt, it is a polishing compound. Perfectionists like *Burt* and *Heather* want their cases sparkling clean before they reload them. If you didn't know, Now you know. Your Welcome. Get educated, Stay educated. 💪🇺🇸💪
