Screen Printing for Beginners | How to do Multi-Color Prints

Back in the days, I interned at a screen printer. For multicolour, we had all the screens set up in a circle around a pole and pre-aligned them. That way, you printed one colour and then pivoted the screen you just used to the side, thereby brining in the next screen already aligned perfectly. That way, you saved the time of changing screens in the holder for every print. Another, but similar, method we used on 4-colour prints had the printing base rather than the screen rotate. 5 stations; one to put whatever you were printing on on (and in the end off) the base, and then passing it on in turn to the four colours. Granted, that's a bit overkill for a beginner maker; but worth mentioning, I think.

I am building my own desk after an inspiration from one of your videos. I think I got those same craft cover notebooks for my art students. I think I would like to try putting wood veneer on them. They look so nice.

This is such a cool product. I love that the mesh is interchangeable. You don't have to have 10 000 frames for all the different designs that you might want to keep on hand.

Wow. What a huge advance over the traditional methods! So much simpler, faster and much easier to keep screens in registration. Perfect for short-run multicolor prints.... and very economical, given what's included in that multicolor kit. (Clever technique on the magnet and thin ruler to keep the notebooks flat.)

Fantastic video ! Love that equipment and such a thorough demonstration. And what beautiful results you achieved ! As a former screen printer - a spray bottle of water is handy to use immediately when done printing and cleaning the ink off of the screen, to mist the inked area of the screen so you have much less risk of ink drying in the open areas before spraying off with water to fully clean - or becoming hard to clean off of the edges of the screen where the ink is hard fo fully scrape up when done. And in warmer weather - and/or when using a fan or other circulated air in the room - the spray bottle is useful to mist down the ink between passes, on the flooded ink on the screen and on the ink on the squeegee. And something like blue painters tape, would be both easier to apply and remove, besides would leave no residue. Perhaps gaffers tape, if that's the correct word/spelling, would make a good option.

It is incredible how technology is mixing an art like screen printing with lasers, that point is magnificent, you save printing the originals and developments, in addition to applying the emulsion to the screens, what I don't like, and it is not clear to me is that Will you have to buy each emulsified screen? That being the case, it is a creation of waste that becomes pollutants. And how much does each emulsified screen cost? I don't know Rick it's questionable... Your video and production is excellent!!

Black fabric typically takes a white base layer under bright colors and a double stroke of white over black. (even with Plastisol)

Amazing work! Just for cleaning purposes, I think this mesh density is the right size in your instance. If it works, well don't... mesh with it, right? right?....

I wonder if you could modify one of those to do a hybrid of screen printing and layered resin art... This video has me thinking of getting 2. And potentially ruining one as a result, if it doesn't work. I wasn't expecting to be hit with inspiration, thanks and awesome video as always!

Were there instructions about which side of the screen is up? Typically in screen printing, you'd put the smooth side of the emulsion down, towards the print surface. You'll get sharper edges that way. Results might be sub-par with what I see in the microscope shots where the metal mesh creates bumps and gaps on the print side of the screen.

I love watching your projects & would love to try the sceen print option on my xTool P2, but adverts every 3-4 mins???

Clean descriptive video. The textile print needs much less dense mesh than (40 lines /cm) for example paper print as much more color has to go through. What is the mesh density of this prebuild screens?

I love screen printing, but I could never do it. It get goose bumps on my entire body when I hear the sound of the squeegee or the brush going over the mesh >< It was a little hard to watch for me :D

Can these secreens be reuseble ? (Meaning can you "unprint" them ?)

Olá, será que alguem me pode ajudar? Eu procuro o nome em ingles ou em português das plainas com feitios para fazer desenhos na madeira. E também gostaria de saber onde posso encontrar esse tipo de material? Lembrome do meu avô ter umas manuais que faziam entalhes muito giros. Procurei nas casas mais famosas de bricolage mas não encontro nada que faça um desenho que visto em corte fica a lembrar a letra omega do alfabeto grego. Não sei se me fasso entender. O mais indicado será uma plaina manual ou uma fresa? Qual a diferença entre estes equipamentos. O meu objectivo era fazer molduras trabalhadas nas madeiras para crear uma biblioteca classica. Obrigada por partilhar os seus videos de carpitaria e não só. Gosto muito de aprender. Um abraço do Algarve.

Папа вначале радовался, мол, ууу, дочка умеет рубанок держать в руках и циркулярка ей не чужда. Папа, перенося станок для резки трафаретов: "дочка совсем ёбнулась головой". Имхо, автор дошёл до какой-то уже дичи. Не, я не спорю, шелкография очень интересное занятие, но, бля, покупать станок для прожига трафаретов!!? :-0 Ещё не понятно, куда она девает использованные сетки. Я так понимаю, покупает с готовой нанесённой эмульсией, а потом выкидывает. В связи со всем этим, один отпечаток будет выходить не то, что золотым, а даже платиновым! Когда весь мир пытается уменьшить себестоимость оттиска, путём банального многоразового использования сеток (нанесение эмульсии, экспонирования, промывки с последующей смывкой использованной эмульсии) тут просто откровенный пример страдания хуйнёй любой ценой. Вангую, что данный станок будет тихонько простаивать или вообще в определённый момент тихонько куда-нибудь исчезнет, т.к. такой гроб должен оправдывать себя, должно быть много работы для него, а с концепцией автора, печатать будет банально не чего. Хинт1. Ракель для орошения сетки, ведут не на себя, а от себя и один раз. Потому был и результат непредсказуемый с чёрным цветом, когда то густо, то пусто.
