Here’s another casual tee shirt review for you featuring some Gildan products. I think I say “impressed” and “actually” about 50 times each so I apologize…. LOL. But was I really impressed? You’ll have to watch this video and find out. I was continuing my experimentation with the new cameras so I hope the focus is good. Again we look at stitching, print-ability, fit, and feel...etc. These are not paid shirt reviews or sponsored at all. I’m simply buying some shirts and giving you my thoughts on them. It’s pretty detailed and in depth I hope so that you will learn something about these shirts. All of the shirts being examined are sized adult medium. I was surprised at the big difference in fit and feel for these two specimens. I hope you find this video valuable in some way. And of course I hope you enjoy watching it. 2000 Gildan® Ultra Cotton® Adult T-Shirt
Pre-shrunk 100% cotton, jersey knit 6.0 ounce t-shirt. Taped neck and shoulders. Double-needle sleeve and bottom hems. Seamless double-needle collar. Quarter-turned to eliminate center crease. (Ash Grey contains 99% cotton/1% polyester, Sport Grey and Antique Colors contain 90% cotton/10% polyester. All other Heather colors and all Safety colors contain 50% cotton/50% polyester. Safety Green and Safety Orange conform to ANSI/ISEA 107-2010 High Visibility Standards.)

4.5 ounce Softstyle® 100% ring-spun cotton t-shirt. Pre-shrunk jersey knit fabric. Shoulders rolled forward for better fit. Seamless double-needle collar. Taped neck and shoulders. Double-needle sleeve and bottom hems. Quarter-turned to eliminate center crease. (RS Sport Grey contains 90% ring-spun cotton/10% polyester and is darker in appearance than Sport Grey in other styles which are not ring-spun. Dark Heather, Heather Irish Green and Heather Navy are all a 35/65 cotton/poly blend.)

Thanks for making this! Best part is that you actually washed and dried the shirts before trying them on. You might even want to do a before and after washing fit comparison. Seems like every blank on the market shrinks nearly a full size after washing. I've been searching for a blank for 2 years that I could confidently tell my customers fits true to size, but they don't exist afaik. (Next Level & Bella Canvas are the closest, but still run slim) If only there was a boxy men's-fitting blank that didn't require sizing up. I'd love to see you compare some other shirts like the Alstyle 1701R and 1301.

You're very welcome! I'm happy to know you enjoyed the video. Many shirts do shrink but others not so much. The higher quality garments will be the most stable. But with everyday 100% cotton tees, we expect some shrinkage. LOl... shrinkage. Makes me think of Seinfeld ;) If you want to send me 2 in medium I'll put them on the list. Great video! Ive been considering the Gildan 64000 but worried about the sizing and printability - looks like it may be a good regular tee fit for woman with the shrinkage ... damn so annoying trying to find true to size hahahaa - that 64000 you had on looked like a small! Do you think that they are a full size off or even more? Im going to definitely have to order some samples - Do you have a favourite bella? Next level? Id say finding a good true to size womens tee is even harder, if you or anyone else have found a good womens fit let me know ! -cheers ! :)

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed. It maybe a full size off after washing but that's really hard to say since different brands run their own sizing. They can vary so much that we would have to standardize sizes to define such things. I like the Bella tee I did a video about with Bella. That one is pretty cool. Loving your videos . Few questions please . I hand paint cotton scarves . Wanting to take the next step to screen printing my basic designs .. what I’m struggling to get my head around Is when I paint fabric I use a gutta outliner So the fabric paint does not bleed everywhere on the fabric so finally my question is how do you stop this happening with screen printing ? Thank you! Glad I can help out through my video work. I don't. It just does not happen often with plastisol inks. With very thin inks it would be a matter of using the correct mesh count and squeegee durometer. The thinner the ink, the higher the mesh count used. Thanks for watching. i recently had some t shirts printed on the gildan softstyle 64000 and i was satisfied with the neck, the overall softness, and the fit but the fibers of the shirt came through the ink horribly, almost emberassingly, i was told they used a water based ink and i think that i would agree that plastisol wasn't the right stuff to use for that particular design, after just one wash the ink went from white to almost a dirty, dingy, brown looking color. what are your thoughts on that ? do you think that was more on the ink that was used or the shirt ? im looking for a nice, soft quality shirt that will old the ink well and that is well fitted, not boxed, and holds ink well while not spending an arm and a leg as im trying to build my brand, what is your advice on how i should move forward ? thanks again, your videos are super informative.

That's because it was water based ink. Water based ink is the most prone to fibrillation since the ink sits in the knit rather than on top of it. That is classic with a water based print. As soon as you wash it the colors get faded looking even though it's really just the fibers of the shirt coming through the ink. Plastisol ink, while being harder to print with a soft effect, is less prone to fibrillation since it tends to sit on top of the knit. Try using a gray ink on a charcoal or dark gray shirt from Bella or Next Level. I print gray plastisol ink all day long that feels just like water based and looks much better. I can also print white and have it feel just as soft as a water based print. It's all a matter of control int the artwork. Thanks for watching. For me, Gildan Softstyle are the worst fitting, no matter if i go up or down a size. They are literally unwearable. Bums me out when people only print on them. (I am 6'3, 190-200 lbs. I am similar build to you, but broader shoulders. The fit is so...weird throughout the chest and shoulders. Looks bad and fells bad. I wear either L or XL normally, but there is NO size of Gildan Softstyle that fits me.) Thank you for your review. I've wasted too much money trying different sizes of these shirts.

Yeah there are some shirts I don't like as well. Not that I could name them but meaning I have put on shirts in my life where I hated the way they fit. But I'm only about 5' 10" and 140 pounds.
