I used Screen Flow too! The way they released constant paid updates really annoyed me and their editor left much to be desired from my experience. Glad you enjoyed the review!
@@AndyFeliciotti”Constant paid updates?” Really? I’ve been using ScreenFlow for at least a year or two and have yet to see a single paid update. I’m on ScreenFlow 10.
Hah! ScreenFlow crew is strong - I am here looking for something better than Screenflow and not as indepth as Premier. In 2024 Screenflow just feels - old. I am on version 9 and never cared to upgrade yet I get an annoying pop up ever time I open it. It just feels like a bad user experience.
Just purchased recently and AMAZING!! One thing I don't see is a share link with them hosting the vid? I assumed that came with as even my ol ScreenPal for $15 a year hosted years of my tutorial vids for clients. Exporting and saving locally is like 1GB for a 12min vid, yikes
In the middle of finding a solution that doesn't feel as old as ScreenFlow but isn't as advanced as Premier. This feels like a nice in between. I still need to do some research to see if I can add tracks to the timeline, among other little things I'd like to do that were not on this review but overall this is great. Thank you Andy!
Thanks Andy. What a great video review, and you sold me. I purchased it right away, and I can't thank you enough for helping me solve a major challenge for getting professional quality screed recordings. You da man!
I hate few things about it. there are no pause and unpause shortcuts as I need to pause screen recording many times. my tutorials are in English and I need to take breaks and puases as a non-native English speaker. the other bad aspect of this screen recorder is; there is no option to keyframe camera placement. if you set camera at a location then it will stay there throughout the entire clip. let's say we want camera at left on one segment and at right side on another segment of recording, that could be done with the keyframes, but there is no such an option in this recorder.
I just wanted to buy it BUT!!! This app has NO PAUSE button during recording!!!!! This is unbelievable and it's a deal breaker for me - I am sure for many users as well. It's like having a car without breaks - on engine on = go and engine off = stop. The app looks amazing and useful - but for a hundred dollars the basic stuff has to be there!
Thanks, Andy! Who created this software deserves a great place in heaven… This is so game-changing, now we can literally make screen recordings as beautiful as Apple does!
Hi Andy! This was an amazing video. Thank you much. I should probably go after the product support for this question, but could share if this software supports external USB cameras in Mac mini? Thanks again for the great presentation here. Very well done!
Mouse cursor Question - is it possible to change the mouse cursor/pointer to something like a Yellow spot ie more visible that standard mouse arrow for when people are trying to follow you on screen?
When you do this video are you recording a video of yourself "talking-head" style with a separate camera? Do you record into the web cam using a separate app? I've always wondered about the best and least CPU-intensive workflow to recording video of myself WHILE screen recording.. esp if the App I'm using uses a lot of resources.
Great question! For me personally I record on the camera, mainly since I shoot 4k in clog for maximum quality. When I’ve used screen studio I’ll typically use my MacBook webcam without issue, that being said when I use an elgato camlink with my Canon R5 there is a delay but I think that’s mostly because of camlink processing. Sorry I don’t have a full researched answer for you! Many cameras now will also let you usb c into your computer and use them as a webcam. Not sure of the delay when using that method.
@@AndyFeliciotti oh yeah, true. I have the x100v and it does usb straight into the computer. I’ll have to try it out! By the way, any thoughts on how OBS compares to this?
@@whatisiswhatable I would argue the use cases are really different, screen studio doesn't have streaming capabilities, if you are trying to make a product demo I find this program easier.
So I had to check Tella. In my humble opinion Tella's user interface looks clunky in comparison and you have to pay $11 per month to use it. At the moment we use several different solutions for our marketing materials and tutorials, like Camtasia when we need a lot of overlays, CreateStudio (only works on Mac) for animations,LumaFusion (iPad), Descript (for subtitles in several languages). To cut costs we are looking to replace Techsmith Camtasia with Wondershare Filmora. We are currently also trying Screen Studio and like it so far, but as always what you want to use depends of your preferences, needs and experience. Good luck with any choices you make!
I'm using the Sony ezv10 with a wireless go2 mic but the audio does not show up on the screen recording but the mic is connect to the camera and shows audio passing through but does no sound on the screen recording after recording is done. Can someone help me with this?
They are coming with a subscription plan soon. So it's better to buy now for lifetime. Also, all the basic features are already there and you will get so many things in an year.
Yes you can. Go to project folder. Now right click on project and click on Show Package Contents. There you will find the screen record, camera record and voice separately.
Great review Andy. Question: I plan to create a podcast/videocast and up loading to RU-vid and Substack. I am raw with this stuff. All I want to do is add audio to screen that will contain spreadsheet data. I might be good with spreadsheets but I'm equally as bad with any kind of video recording/editing. Is this for a guy like me? Thank you so much.
Hey, while the app does have some really simple editing interface it won't let you add music, likely you'll want to try a more featured editor like Capcut/iMovie/Davinci Resolve/Final Cut Pro. Hope this helps! If you just want to do a screen recording with you talking over it (with or without webcam) give it a try. The app is free to try.
It shows a wave form, I am not sure of the question fully, the way form isn't as great as a real video editor IMO but it's helpful for trimming purposes.
But if you select a window. Hit record. And move the window. Or better yet. Minimize the window. Will it still keep recording the window. I want to record a conference meeting. Meets. Then minimize. Then read a script. Which is placed in area where record window was located I have “Clean Shot X” and it cannot do this It will record static that set area
I can test when I’m home but I believe it just locks into the area at the start of the recording. So moving the window messes up the recording and minimizing I think will only record a blank area. I’ll test to see if you can put another window in front of the meeting window though while it’s recording.
@@AndyFeliciotti Thanks. Yes I put the video on dropbox and shared the link. I am assuming that the tech can't be that difficult as two platforms I have used before both have this feature ((Loom, ScreenPal)
