Quality, State of Art, Proper cable - £30 cable failing after half year lol. Cheapo Samsung cable working for 5 years for me so far no probs charging 3 devices. LOL Apple.
Sorin after you repair the wire u can wrap a solid wire around it about 3 inches and then a bit of hot glue and then shrink wrap it too look good. I did that too my daughters cable and it’s still working for 3 years yet.
My brother gave me an iPhone and the genuine Apple charger carped-out in a couple of months, and going by how flimsy the cable is it doesn't look like that is going to last long either, ie, it's over-priced junk.
Use a spring from an old pen insert the wire into the spring so that it raps around the end to take the pressure off of where the plastic ends and the wire starts 👍👍👍👍👍
Right to repair isn't just about iphones. I have lots of led lamps in my house that cost £25+ each and evertime one blows (going to last me a lifetime apparently) it is the 50p capacitor that fails. The big fat cap that anyone could replace with a soldering iron, some know how and a replacement cap. Millions and billions of similar examples. Forget iphones.
Others manufacturers found a way to avoid that issue, by using nylon instead of that plastic. About the cable warranty, as you bought it at the official Apple store online, you could easily have it replaced at an Apple store.
Yeah, typical apple cable, seen them All over the place in the same conditions. They have the money to buy apple but not the money to buy a cable charger..
Anker is probably the next best cable, I have been using only their cables for a long time, especially the powerline III products there are designed for more current, it's a nice thick cable. On my new cables, I also put thick heat-shrink on the end if the cable is going to be moving a lot, I have never suffered a failure with their cables. I actually have wanted to see inside the Anker cable but none of my cables has failed yet so I haven't had the opportunity to cut the cable. If you want a long thick cable, I have been using the Anker PowerLine+ in red colour, good braided cable and only after 2 years of lots of movement the cable near the lightning connector is kinked but still working perfect. There are new cables though so buy those instead.
There is nothing special about Apple Macbook except the high price. The same factories in China that makes PC motherboards and laptop motherboards also makes Apple motherboards. If you want a PC for running Windows, better to buy a Windows PC laptop. At least PC branded laptops do not serialize parts and use charging chips that can not be bought. Be very careful when buying any laptop because even if it looks like it is quality and could be repaired, it may be just the same Chinese made crap and not be repairable. It's better to buy a used laptop. Recently I bought a used top-of-the-line $3700 Toshiba laptop from 2016 for AU$475 because the owner thought it was junk LOL! This laptop is extremely fast and boots Windows 11 in 4 seconds. No one needs the very latest 3000 dollar laptop. Buy used for a fraction of the price and it's exactly the same experience. If you have something old that works just keep it for as long as possible because newer laptops may not be as easy to repair.
install Linux and use wine... or there this thing for linux gaming, that sleeps my mind... thing something Steam related... some of the games will not work but.. i'd give it a try... linux drivers often are better then Microsoft stuf...

Cable is designed to fail. Only a user with mechanical sympathy can make that cable last - most people just don't notice that bending that nice flexible through 90+ degrees will wreck it.
Only 6 months for an apple product doesn't sound good. I didn't have a broken charging cable in years, I have had exclusively Nokia phones since 2013 till the last year that I switched to a mid-range ish Huawei, the cable is even bitten daily by kittens and doesn't seem like is going to fail anytime soon, it already passed the 6 months mark.
Under Right to repair apple would probably only supply complete boards as they will say that these are these only parts that Apple themselves use. I imagine the cost of a new board would be around £500 or whatever it is they charge if they replace one. So, if you want an ISL9240 you will have to buy a 500 quid donor board from apple and strip parts from it!

The cable has seen some serious mechanical abuse. The fine stranded copper wire was of the right kind for the purpose. We must tell our kids not to rest their iPads on the charging jack ;)
the sa dthing this kind of reparation does oftenly does not last ... I had to resolder my laptop charger every 2 weecks or so... but hey! I aint a pro !
same place mine went , fixed it but it give up in the end , outer brad wire was like a ground, used electrical tape to build up then heat shrink too strengthen
@@em0_tion I agrree. There are also other good brands but with UGreen I've never had a bad experience. They're often a bit thicker, but have a great quality and thick wire gauge for the power rails so even 3m cables worked perfectly fine for me at high current.

Get a good brand MFi cable, like the Belkin you mentioned. 3pcs of the same cable from UGREEN (2m, 2.4A) cost the same as the Apple one. I bet they will last you longer. 👍
I have a 5metre JuicebitZ cable for more than 3 years now no damage or weak points it carries the amps very well. Only paid 6-7 pounds? Seems to be much better than the original iphone cables… One thing to note. Apple don’t make these cables to last…. Seems to be the way of getting our money every so often.
I use poundland USB-C cables with my Samsung fast charger for my phone. The cables only last a few months before fast charging stops though it will still charge slowly. I buy a new £1 cable and fast charging resumes. I'm on about the 4th cable now. I think that USB-C sucks!
Perhaps the mac will get bass if you tell it that it is a 2.1 system in the windows speaker settings control panel? It seems like it is 3 speakers system when i did search around. Somehow, I knew we'd see some hot glue used in this one . 😂 Wish i could have reached through the screen and handed you a piece of the heat shrink you were looking for. 😜 Apple makes great stuff but for what they charge, the quality needs improving. Looking forward the the macbook mod video. For the price we pay for our gadgets, we should be entitled to the option to repair them.
Sorin, that is one neat repair :-D Maybe find an old docking station for a different phone, remove the connector and put an apple one in the station, hot glue the connector. No bending, no wallet emptying :-D It's a thought.
I agree about the looks. Still, there's nothing embarrassing or wrong about using a perfectly good working cable. IF she is, she can always do whatever she wants with her own money. :}
@@em0_tion it would not bother me at all repair of the cable as a tv repair engineer i personally would colour much any repair including my self but that is just me paying attention to detail i know he not always bothered 😕 Spending so much for so little quality from apple 🍎 is insane Ps pumping 2 Amps or more to iPhone or any phone devices every day 📱 is insane this will reduce battery life by half Personally i wouldn't use that much current on any tablets also
