Today, 25th December is the birthday of one of the greatest artistic and musical figure of our world, the composer Alexander Scriabin. It is also Christmas, so I wish you a merry Christmas! Lastly, it is also the 100th video of this channel. Thank you for the support.
O.S. (old style) is Julian calendar. On Gregorian calendar, Alexander Scriabin's birthday is 6th January. It's also Christmas but on Julian calendar, it's Orthodox Christmas (Orthodox church didn't accept the reform of the Catholic Pope) (Russia and other countries with great dominance of Orthodox church turned from Julian to Gregorian enough late)
A beautiful romantic concerto. It makes me regret that, once Skryabin had developed the mature style we see in Piano Sonatas 4 & 5 and Symphonies 4 & 5, he didn't return to the concerto form.
Don't understand why this Concerto isn't in place with the Rachmaninoff Concerti and Tchaikovsky Concerti. Medtner's 3 Concerti should also be just as recognized
This is indeed one of the greatest works humanity has ever produced. But if you've seen Rachmaninoff's music (and his hands) you would know he's not human.
