@@monickei14 you will definitely like this then: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZoM6npd3qyg.html Where i come from, it is not only rarely, but NEVER played. Scriabin is not a big box office draw. Audiences will not pay to hear this. Only a superstar like maestro Pletnev can afford the commercial risk of performing this in concert. With Pletnev it's about the singer, not the song. People don't care WHAT he plays, they want to hear HIM.
@@mikedaniels3009 Perhaps not the most popular but not so unpopular either; searching here on RU-vid there are - at least - 23 different pianists playing the Scriabin Piano concerto!
Thank you ADGO. This performance of romantic Scriabin, here ,by Mikhail Pletnev is astounding! This should be heard more, since it is not heard that often. It is beautiful!
last year I visited to Moscow to attend his concert(Tchaikovsky concerto no.1), but it was postponed to this april cause of his health problem. I almost cried! And here it is, his Scriabin! Luckily enough he’s going to come to Seoul next year perhaps. Always stay healthy for your warm-hearted friends Mr.Pletnev!
Le grand M.Pletnev dans du Scriabine, que demander de plus ? Merci à ADGO pour ce cadeau ! The great M.Pletnev in Scriabin, what more could you ask for? Thanks to ADGO for this gift!
Masterful, passionate. A magician musically. God bless him. This gorgeous Concerto should be played often, often. Goosebump performance, thank you, Maestro Pletnev. How pleased & proud Scriabin would be. Spasiba. Tish
I'm guessing the reason people such as yourself(and me)feel Scriabin's Piano Concerto to be gorgeous is,madam-the very rarity(that you dost bemoan in your comment)of performances ITSELF!! YES, I hereby contend that this-and this ALONE-is what has prevented it from joining the long list of masterpieces that have become uninteresting to many! Being frequently performed is not all it's cracked up to be m'lady!
Hermosísimo concierto. Como pintor he realizado muchas pinturas en homenaje a Scriabin. Libre totalmente para componer música increíble. Y Pletnev sencillamente magistral!
Very intetesting comments here. Hearing stuff such as this here, i feel a deep gratitude for the work of Rachmaninoff, Liberace, Cavallaro, Irving Berlin, Gershwin, Scott Joplin, Jelly Roll Morton, and the stride piano, big bands and boogie woogie movements.
Nothing like discovering one's presuppositions are incorrect. I never would have thought that Scriabin would have composed a passionate work like this. So much for personal myths. This work is moving.
This performance is quite diffrent than I know. first of all , end of the 1st& 3rd movement ends only by piano(orginal version end with orchestra & piano) and latter part of the 3rd movement is quite revised.. like puzzle(some part comes earlier, and some more latter) but it's not that changed version is bad, it sounds also beautiful Entirely beautiful performance, I will hear again and again this
I have to say that it sounded so much better back in November 2016 when he performed the same concerto in the same hall. It is a shame that performance hasn't been recorded properly...
I don't know the one you mentioned but yeah this kind of thing happens (or used to happen) all the time, where the bootleg performance was more interesting or sounded better than the professional recording (even if it was live too). The underground market for bootleg recordings is kind of crazy :)
Oh no, I didn't refer to any bootleg recording, I actually went to that concert myself. Just checked it and it was in fact on 24/11/2016, Pletnev played Scriabin's PC in the first half and then Rach2 after the break. There were way less places where the soloist and orchestra were not together and overall that performance felt way more inspired and consistent...
There is an actual video of Pletnev playing this concerto in 2015 in Parma elsewhere on RU-vid (on the channel of Stanislav Kochanovsky). There too he is playing a Shigeru Kawai piano. Does he take his own piano with him wherever he goes? Where and when was your photo taken?
I think he doesn't take it with him - the company provides it to him wherever he is. I don't remember when the photo was taken but I think it was in Moscow's Tchaikovsky Hall.
He does more than changing a few notes. In the last movement he even makes a big cut of several bars (pages even). However, I find it is entirely justified and it does help a beautiful but somewhat flawed third movement. Of the many beautiful recordings of this concerto this one for me is the most beautiful.
Yes, he did! Despite his great playing this is an absolute "no go". Scriabin was one of the greatest perfectionists in music history and he knowed exactly what to to. We have not the right to change anything!
