Sometimes I forget that most of you have only been playing XIV for a year or two at this point. Then you run into a relatively rare mechanic like webs and have to work out how to resolve it because you're seeing it for the first time.

Tbf webs have only been used in this game for a grand total of one time back in HW I'm pretty sure about 50% of the playerbase are rediscovering how to do webs lol

I’m honestly surprised they haven’t come up again. It’s a good mechanic and I’m sure was a lot more coding then a random aoe. Also like the spinning hand above you making you run a random direction, usually the devs like to use something many times when it’s new.

@@DawnAfternoon Yeah, when I was watching them try to figure out how to break the webs, I was like "wait, how many fights was this actually used in before?" and the answer is two (Irminsul and Sawtooth, and Arachne Eve) that I can think of off the top of my head. And they're both in the one Alliance raid series that everyone forgets about because it's not required to unlock anything else - Shadow of Mhach. There might be like, one or two other fights where it shows up in the entire game, but in the larger scale of things it is (as I noted) relatively rare.

@@IKIGAIofficial Yep, and their approach to all of the fights is not much different from any other veteran player or static, which is why I keep forgetting how relatively new to the game they all are. I love watching it though (as a former WoW raider) because there's that bit of familiarity to their approach to Savage and progression.

man i love watching echo play this game, they are actively learning and talking about it. its a very nice change of pace compared to watching people that truly can vibe out whats going on because theyve been playing so long. them doing their blind prog is always a great time to watch.

It's amazing how even with a brand new content, we can still predict what mechanic it will be. The game does a good job teaching you mechanics one by one then remixes it later.

Possible Spoilers Below if you plan on running this raid: This whole raid series revolves around a building called Pandæmonium, which is basically a prison complex for failed or dangerous experiments. While all of the previous fights have been the "inmates" contained within, that specific boss you've referring to is the entire building made alive. So yeah you could say its pretty wild.

I know that normal mode raid and alliance raid are suppose to be the equivalent to what in wow is meant for LFR raids (they are designed to be done with matchmaking), but how do they compare to LFR raids? I quit WoW before just before LFR was implemented

Ally raids are WoW lfr to a degree. They more or less side content/story use for catch up gear. Raids and Trials. Normal (and Savage) are one boss (rarely adds). No trash Compare to lfr or even normal WoW raids. It's easier. Moving up to Savage. Very boss to boss. 8 man no addons to 10+ man with addons.

trials, raids, and alliance raids start off easy enough for everyone to complete. Extreme Trials are about Normal to Heroic difficulty in WoW. Savage Raids can go from heroic to mythic. Alliance raids are pretty much the Truest LFR experience in FFXIV. There is one more difficulty, Ultimates. Ultimates are remixes of past content souped up and made even more difficult then Savage Raids, definitely Mythic+++ of raid content.

Both games are too different to compare but in terms of the highest end of difficulty, FFXIV has Ultimates which are basically the end Mythic bosses equivalent

I wouldn't say anything in FF14 is equivalent to LFR. LFR is so easy that like half of the raid can be AFK and still clear. XIV normal and alliance raids are somewhere between WoW LFR and WoW normal.

Question: what's with the constant jumping? It's a bit annoying and disorienting. Jumping around doesn't assist with dodging attacks, nor does it make you faster

It actually can though since it locks in your momentum and direction so you can turn your camera in another way while jumping and it let's you keep moving while being stunned by something instead of being instantly stopped
