I've built quite a few scrolling message systems to try out different libraries and colour displays but I think Electronoobs one has the best apk and features date, time and temp...an excellent project. Parola is also worth a build...many features on that one. If you are building long messages, always check to see if the display is getting 5 volts at every 8x8, else add thicker or more 5v and ground wires.

Nice Video! Maybe you should consider an interrupt driven code for the scrolling. So you don't have the lag if you recieve some data. For future projects it is maybe also no bad idea to secure the dupont connectors with hot glue in its place.

Very cool but, I think you can feed the circuit with a 5V 2A power supply so you don't need the Buck Converter.

I got my setup up and working, but was wondering about displaying the temperature in Fahrenheit instead of Celcius. I was assuming I could insert something like * 1.8) + 32.0; into the code, but am struggling.

Just wondering why you chose to mount the matrix displays sideways like that instead of end to end. The displayed text can be oriented using the software.

i did the project without battery and buck converter, i plug them to smartphone charger 5v 2A but why they not 'on' ? even there is no led light on arduino, but when i unplug the 5v power on arduino pin, the arduino led is on.. is the battery and buck converter is must have for the circuit..?
