We go scuba diving on the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. We opted for a 4 day, 3 night liveaboard so that we could do a lot of diving! We give a cabin tour of the live aboard and show lots of beautiful underwater footage. Diving the great barrier reef has been high on our bucket list during our around the world trip! We are so grateful we were able to see this natural wonder!
**This was filmed in January 2020. Since the filming of this video the Great Barrier Reef underwent a mass coral bleaching event. With all the other news dominating screen time in 2020 it feels like this was overlooked. I've provided some links below to learn more and find ways to help protect this amazing natural wonder!

5 dives a day? That must have been quite exhausting!

Awesome!!🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩 I wish to visit Great Barrier Reef some day. How much does this cost!???
@PursuingMountains

It’s pretty spending and it depends on the quality of the boat, the number of days you’re gone and a few other things. You can checkout liveaboard.com to see actual rates

You should someday! We have zero regrets for taking the leap even though our trip was cut short due to COVID. This live-aboard was a highlight for sure.

23 dives. I remember the food being very good actually! Are you thinking of making a trip out there?

Rottnest Island is Rotto, not Rotti.

@@PursuingMountains no worries. Highly recommend Rottnest Island. The Quokkas on the island are very friendly and the island is beautiful. There are three hidden gem islands to the south of Rottnest. Carnac islmd has seals you can swim with (although in the wrong season the bulls might chase you along the sand). Carnac is full of snakes though so you can’t go off the sand beaches and you need a boat to get there (there are tour boats but I’ve never been on one of those). Next south is penguin island. That has a sandbar you can walk over onto the island but it’s not recommended to return that way unless you’re a decent swimmer. There’s a ferry in summer - 5 minutes either way. In summer the penguins come ashore to moult their waterproof feathers and are all over the island. There’s also a penguin sanctuary on the island that looks after and rehabilitates injured penguins. They are open every day. The. The north end of garden island is open to the public. The south end is a naval base. You need a boat to get out there but it’s worth it. There are completely unspoiled beaches and sand dunes and inland the island has natural thermal wells. Before 911 you could wander into the naval base but you probably can’t do that now. Further north are the infamous Abrolhos islands - really beautiful. And in shark bay there are a number of islands but you need a boat to get to those. Shark bay itself is a world heritage site for a very good reason. Monkey Mia resort is the best spot to stay there - they have accomodation from 5 star to ‘bring your own tent’. And they have the dolphins. Shark bay is best with a long wheel base 4wd so you can get out to cape peron and the zuyptdorf cliffs. Kalbarri, hutt lake (which is pink), and port Gregory are all good places to take a look at on the way up.
