I hope you're just talking about music cos i don't look back particularly fondly on mass unemployment, mass emigration (most of my school and college friends), no divorce, no contraception and...oh yeah...a war in our country that cost more than 3,000 lives - great days indeed.

Absolutely 💯 Joe. I'm 46 now. I was 9 in 1985, but I was way happier than I am now. We have everything, but we've nothing. 80's was the best.

@@MikeMaguire All true Mike, but I can only express what that decade was like from the eyes of a child in Kerry, simple times, simple pleasures man. Ireland was more socialist and less capitalistic than today. Just two months ago in June, I conducted a Social Experiment through a Questionnaire. Poled 1,000, yes, only a tiny small segment of society, male and female, 50 years old up. 74% preferred the 1980’s over 2022. Now, ain't that interesting. Today, we've got the disintegration of personal safety in society, crime, the loss of our national currency, the cost of living - no bang for your buck, Rampant drug use nationwide, the emptying of towns and villages in the systematic destruction of rural Ireland, the vanishing of Irish characteristics of crafts, storytelling, folklore etc, the incessant rampage of the unashamed destroying of our rural countryside, trees and hedges, cyber bullying, the consistent shitty summer weather, the Anglo- Saxon/ Americanisation of Irish society, people speaking with American twangs, mid Atlantic styles, lack of community spirit, nobody works together anymore, the privatisation of our nationhood, national assets, all for greed and money, nobody calls to eachother anymore, mainstream chart music is shite, the sexualistion of our youth, children trafficking, etc, I could go on. Some fucking decade and times alright we are in. A load of bollocksology today is. With all it's faults, give me a fucking break, if I had a time machine, I'd rather go back man.
