Thanks mate! Well, it is already the second video by Jim: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-sTOgDe3EmQ0.html (And yes, we are super glad to have him on board) 😊 ~Zach
Hey I had some doubts like is it possible to download someones already realistic sculpted model and then use it to create a motion .... pls reply @@cgboost
Really nice tutorial! Some things I'd like to add: - The pie menu on A is a really nice alternative to using Ctrl I and Ctrl M. Very handy. - If you turn off the Pinch slider on the Crease brush, it's the same as the Draw brush.
The first time I saw this tutorial I was amazed how those details went that far without the dynotopo. Now I'm adopting this method everytime I do the sculpting. Nice share!
It becomes clear to me that I need a better PC for realistic models. Meaning it's either simple objects for me, or I manually cut the parts of the model that require more meshes for fine tuning.
me too. I'm using one that is maxed out with windows 10....cant hardly use 3.6 blender...cant use cycles...my graphics card is not strong enough... I tried downloading 4.2... forget it. I use 2.91. 3.5. and sometimes 3.6. Anyone want to gift an old Vietnam Vet a new updated computer, I'll be most grateful and would gladly accept one.
Thank you for this! At 5:07 when we have to smooth out the geometry, I'm getting more of a sculpting action. It doesn't appear to smooth and I'm definitely holding shift. Any ideas?
Hello CGboost! Thank you for you help! this is the best sculpting tutorial i can see. I am originally a blendeer intermediate but didnt learn sculpting. I made cool textures, animations and models before but sculpting wasnt what i usually did. I am also an artist, I can draw portraits of others perfectly fine. it is just that I wanted to learn 3d art and found you. your video really helped me work out my first ever head! Thanks
I am trying to find the references for following your video but sadly the files for this video dont appear on the drive file anymore. Can you reupload the files?
My work has too many pixels. The part where we made the second smooth effect definitely doesn't look like yours and I definitely can't give details like you. I'm wondering if I should adjust my work size. Do you think?
Hi, hard to say without seeing the file, maybe try to scale up everything and apply the scale. But if it doesen't work try to post the file in our community so we can check it. community.cgboost.com/feed ~ Masha
this was such a helpful tutorial. ive been trying to find tutorials that 1. match what im trying to do 2. explain what they are going to do, and how to do it. most tutorials just say "alright, let's just make the eyes bigger" and not show how to do it. thank you so much!! :)
Go to the resources page ( www.cgboost.com/resources/ ) and click on "RU-vid Tutorials & Project Files". Now here you will find a dropbox page, look for the folder "2023_11_sculpt_a_head_in_blender". Now inside this folder you will find all the relevant files. Hope this helps. ~Jim
I have a qeustion about vertices. I am using this Video as a tutorial on sculpting, but I decided to make a non-human face in an attempt to get some feel for it. Thing is, I stretched the mouth part to create a snout, but that also means I stretched the vertices apart, making it more difficult to create precise facial features. What should I do? Should I just use Bevel (CTRL+B) to create more vertices, or is there something else I could do? I always forget about the subdivide.
HI, that's a complex question to being answered under a comment on youtube. If you like, you can post it in our community along with some screenshots and maybe the project file so we can check it. community.cgboost.com/home ~ Masha
@@cgboost I went back in your Video and it looks like a simple remesh would have done the trick as well. Though the topology is not really mirrored. Some forms are different or are placed on another edge. Is that a problem, or irrelevant for sculpting?
Hi am am new to blender sculting i love your video very well explained, i want to ask how can one use this method to create a stylized cartoon head. Pls i nees your help if there is any tip or reference i shuold have while sculting a stylizes head or a course you could refer me to Thanks.
It should stay on top by default, but I might be wrong, so if it's not staying on top it's probably just the mode not being set right. To fix this just right click the canvas (the pureref window) and go to "Mode", here just select the "Always On Top" mode and you should be golden! Hope that helped! ~Jim
Really nice tutorial, good pace and clear instructions. I’m now doing the sculpting course, but I wouldn’t mind a new one for sculpting human beings with this level of detailed explanations 🎉
Yes, you can do that. But starting from scratch lets you learn the anatomy fundamentals and the real shapes of the head better (because you have to apply them yourself and not go with a readymade base model - which is of course faster and easier, but it misses the learning aspect - so it is rather advised for more experienced users)
Thank you for this tutorial but I have a question on 4:54 when I press R I haven't this seeting of resolution, you have a another possibility on blender for this seeting ? please thank you 🙏 !
For it to work you have to be in sculpt mode and then you can press "R" to set the resolution size. This I believe is the standard setting as I didn't change it. Should work in both 3.6 and 4.0.
Hey, you can find the pureref file by going to the resources page ( www.cgboost.com/resources/ ). From here click on "RU-vid Tutorials & Project Files" and look for the folder "2023_11_sculpt_a_head_in_blender". Now inside this folder you will find all the relevant files from this video. Hope this helps. ~Jim
Believe me, reference is really important if you want to get good sculpting results. You actually should spend way more than 10 minutes working with your reference. Patience is always needed when sculpting.
Hello nice work. Can you please explain the brushes that you use in blender sculpting. I am a Zbrush user and want to transit to Blender sculpting. But I don't know which brushes in Blender that I used to use in Zbrush.
Hi thanks, if you need a deep dive into Blender sculpting with every brush and option explained you can check our 3d Sculpting Course here: www.cgboost.com/courses/master-3d-sculpting-in-blender we also have a free course for beginners here: www.cgboost.com/courses/blender-sculpting-for-beginners ~ Masha
@cgboost oh I figured it out. Thank you for the reply though! I needed to hit alt-m I think to remove the mask. Regardless the video is amazing. Great teaching and fun yo learn!
