• Eastern Coral Snake’s Information:
• The eastern coral snake micrurus filvius is a species of highly venomous coral sake in the family Elapidae.
• The species is endemic to the southeastern United States and is generally less than 80 cm or 31 inches in total length.
• Its venom is a potent neurotoxin, envenomation causes rapid paralysis and respiratory failure in prey. In humans, symptoms include slurred speech, double vision and muscular paralysis eventually leading to respiratory failure.
• And Coral snake antivenin was manufactured in the year 1960’s but the production was halted in 2003 due to several reasons.
• The color pattern of this coral snake consists of a series of rings that encircle the body: wide red and black rings separated by narrow yellow rings. And the red rings are usually speckled with black.
• People who live in its natural range are often taught a folk rhyme as children such as: Red next to black, safe from attack; Red next to yellow, you’re a dead fellow. Red touching black, friend of jack; Red touching yellow, you’re a dead fellow.
• Though these rhymes is not actually accurate due to several reasons like genetic mutations that cause color variations in some coral snakes in different regions; not to mention those albinos too.
• It should not be confused with the scarlet snake (Cemophora coccinea) or scarlet king snake.(Lampropeltis elapsoides), which are harmless mimics whereas their red rings only touches their black rings.
• This coral snake eats lizards, frogs and smaller snakes, including other coral snakes.
• Their average Lifespan in the wild is unknown, but in captivity they can live up to 7 years.

Hi Kenji I found an absolute gorgeous challenge for you to make. It is a true spider. Family peucetia viridans. Common name lynx spider. I love spiders, other than some orb weavers I've never seen a spider so unique. Kelli

I checked that out as soon as i saw your comment dear Kelli, and my jaw dropped when I saw what it looks like. So beautiful translucent spider and the coloration is stunning not to mention, those hairs. Sure i will give it a try in the future. I really appreciate this suggestion dear, thank you so much🤗🙏💚

The easiest rhyme is: Red touch yellow Kill a fellow Red touch black Venom lack The other way to distinguish coral snakes from kingsnakes and milkshakes is to remember the 2 cautionary colours on a traffic light. Red and yellow side by side is the coral snake.

@Life of Clay you are most welcome. Snakes are a passion of mine. I'm a marine biologist, but I have an extensive background in herpetology. Also a wildlife artist, so I very much appreciate the work and time and details that go into all of your projects. You entomological projects in particular are quite detailed. I have great appreciation for any artist into realism or photorealism. Nicely done!

I am so shocked that the gesso, pain and varnish don’t brake after bending the snake ! 😮
@LifeofClay
@LifeofClay Год назад
Because some gesso are mixed with considerable amount of glue and some are not. On the other hand, some acrylic paints are elastic when dried into film.😊I'm so glad you landed to mu humble channel dear, thank you very much🙏
