It's a business and they have teams for different things, those cosmetics only needs the art team to add 3D assets to the game, the art team is probably not responsible for fixing bugs or gameplay related issues. I was at the D4 airfield the other day... And I was appalled.... So they have just thrown a BUNCH of bushes all over the place to be able to hide puppet spawns and spawn them near you. I used to love the D4 airfield :(

I used to run a pretty popular SCUM server before they took the planes out, they drove me to DayZ, no plans to go back. I could easily be the guy you're talking about because that's what happened to me, he blocked me. I may have had a different name with a certain "unlucky" number in it.

They simplified it too much hordes are dumb all the cool vehicles are gone graphic change for the worse the lack of story mode ever is also really dumb if you just jumped on with no explanation your playing day z with better graphics. You'd never know the rich background story. My group comes every few months to check it out and nothing has changed in a year for the better. 7 days took 14 years but they made big changes for the better with a solid road map. I will wait but I won't hold my breath I feel it will be a failed game.
at least in zomboid you dont have a janky movement system and have more to do in game than scum. i have loads of hours in both and ngl id put more in zomboid if asked. it just sucks that scum is overly complicated to the point where it gets tiring
The removal of animals (without playing a dumb mini game) and the pop in zombies that spawn in a few feet from you killed the game for me. The world feels lifeless and dull in a way it didn't before and all the planning in the world means nothing in the face of these nonsensical spawns. Hopefully, the devs can turn things around, but I'm not coming back to this game until/if the glaring issues are addressed in a meaningful way
@@rickstas2683 There's hunting, but it's a mini-game now. Previously, you'd come across animals randomly. Chickens and goats hanging around farms and such. Now, you'll hear them but won't see them until you hunt them through the mini-game. Very un-immersive. The only animals still encountered outside the mini-game are wolves and bears, but far less often than in earlier builds
@@joshwilson6388 They brought them back, but in a quite subpar way. No you can indeed meet animals but only close to towns/POIs as, like puppets, they are part of the "encounter system" now. As you know, the encounter system doesn't do much out in the wild.
i love scum but almost all the content creators do not actually have knowledge like a veteran scum player does. So many of the content creators for scum just love drama and validation. We need more kings like you and casual who actually do good for the game and do not just blindly follow the devs. These devs are some of the best devs ive ever seen, I feel bad for them that they made the decision to partner with jagex.
Thanks for the update. I've been looking into it again, and they showed the new content for the next patch. They are releasing quests that, according to the devs themselves, will allow players to do exactly what they've always been doing, but with rewards for doing them. So, they added an entirely new system that accomplishes ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, while not fixing anything that was broken about all of the other new systems that they added, just to get it ready for 1.0. So.... I think you may be right that this isn't worth going back to, even 3 months later. It hurts me. I really does. :'( Also, it wasn't just Wardog, which I'm assuming is who you meant. I heard reports from others who were blocked. Gampires just decided that they were not a fan of critics.
It’s crazy you made this comment! I just redownloaded the game and played for an hour or so and it still is the same. And yes content creators who spoke out were blocked and bashed by the other side that supported the game no matter what. Scum community as a whole isn’t very welcoming to criticism.
In other words, play a “mini game” so the game can spawn them in for you lol. In dayz it’s purely coincidence and you can encounter animals randomly without any of that. It feels more natural
i played every major update from 0.4 up until the puppet spawns drastically changed. the way they take 2 steps forward, 1 step back with every update was frustrating to play through all the time but i really liked the potential the game has so i put up with alot of those issues. but once the puppet spawn changes happened, that was enough to fully drive me away. it sucks, some days i was one of the only streamers playing that game daily and i was always rooting for it. but after almost 1k hours, optimism kinda started to go away. i genuinely hope when 1.0 happens and mod support comes in, modders will take the game to a better state. thats the only way i see many people like myself play the game again. good video, i actually found you through other videos of yours but im glad i caught this one.

They havent been talking about mod support for years now. I doubt they will allow it. They changed the course a lot and showed that they dont really care what the players want

bout 5k hours and hundreds of livestreams and I stopped playing after 0.7 as that version of scum was the best it has ever been. I have hopes that when the game releases the modding community can implement the game we used to love
What made that version better for you? I played that version when i was first introduced to the game. And that version for me felt... Entirely unfinished and empty. Clonky and just overall ugh... I literally could not sit on the game for more than a few minutes. But i played 0.8 and thought it was better. Then 0.95 i loved! I got really into it but what sent me away and put off from playing and it was because of the player wipes. Bc they came at inconvenient times, when i was just getting a better feel for it. Got my base finally set up and all is well and boom! Player wipe. I couldn't get behind starting over and over. I get that's how the game functions. Being forced to do it takes me out. If i feel like restarting from the beginning that's cool, if i feel like doing so. But if I'm forced im just wtf i wasn't ready to start over. That really took me out. It is still in my library i sometimes log in to it just to get that feeling again. Doesn't last long anymore
I didnt really see this video as a good review of the game . I was expecting some actual footage of whats wrong with the game. You showed only cinematics and you spent 4-5 minutes of the video talking about other content creators shaming you for your previous review and a Dev banning Casual Wardaog on Twitter? I would encourage you to play the game and record some footage of what you think needs to be improved. Cause i do agree that the game has issues, but i dont see the DLC's as a relevant argument for Scum's progress. Scum got bought up by Jagex so its natural they want to earn some money, which would be DLC's. One thing that needs to be improved is the horde system like you said, but that would be one of the few things i saw as good critique Stay positive bro👍
I started playing it a few months ago and honestly i enjoy it found a nice server and had a few friends join and its been a joy for us it replaced dayz for me entirely just gonna keep following the games updates and be excited for the npcs coming if they do it right
SCUM devs seemed to almost listen to the community too much. Instead of focusing on their core vision they started catering to these requests for kind of obscure and overly punishing hardcore survival features. EA development is fragile and as soon as they start going out of their way for small and highly specific feature requests things tend to get spaghetti coded. Over time the core gameplay suffers because the devs get too far ahead of themselves. Theyre creating what should be near release features way too early.
To me, it seems like they are rushing to get to 1.0 so much! The game clearly isn’t ready for that type of commitment and work. But they sure do fly through updates
If anyone doesn’t like this game and think it’s to hard just play single player for a week on solo with whatever easy settings you want to learn the basics once you learn that it’s all a cake walk from there.
I know this video is a month old and this the first ive seen of your videos, but yea man it still rings true right now. The game really changed around the .8/jagex buyout. Beda with his leaks got a virtual gag and it seems the direction of the game just took a nose dive in the wrong direction. Good video man.
It has changed soooo much ever since 0.8 and only went down hill from there! I sure hope a lightning would strike and change scum for the better but based on how things have been ever since then! I don’t think anything will change:/ it’s such a shame
this game as all games has always had lore but u can find bit and peices from 0.3 refrencing ai quests and roaming npcs its always had plans to have story content amongst the open world im still excited to see where the game goes
I 100% agree. It breaks my heart what Scum is today. I've always been against mods for Scum, but I have to say that mods will probably save it. I've invested over 4K hours in this game, and you are right Scum 'is just not the same'. It's ruined at the moment, not only because of mechanics removed over the years (remember weapons jamming?) and, especially, the current puppet spawning system... I have to stop commenting - I'm getting really rawled up.
I got this game the day it came out. Loved it. Have over 5000 hours. My mates stopped a long while back. Sadly I can’t play it anymore. It’s not the game that it once was. It was FUN.
Totally with you on this. I LOVED THIS GAME! Two years ago. I totally understand what happened and why the studio made it choice but it just sucks cuz it's not the games fault it became a victim of it's own community.

I agree. Also, I recently came back from a long break to see these things and noticed something disturbing. The remaining English speaking playerbase is very reclusive and several I've killed had vehicles full of perverse items with pink little backpacks and the other pink things and the sextoys. It seemed very... PDF file type and just perverted. Most have the ridiculous hair. I'm on another break and will return to see the 1.0 but I'm not holding out hope. Good video.
With the horde and the spawn system they messed up bad. So bad that I stoped playing. So bad that I never bought any useless DLCs because I hesitate supporting a project what is going clearly in a very wrong direction. Removing content to replace it with broken content is not ideal. As a PvE player I went further and I play other games now. I have no hopes that the SCUM Devs might fix all the problems. Maybe they are not even really interested into fixing it.
@@AndiKoehn The attention to detail (from the clothing options to the extended health system and everything in between they went above and beyond the other games), the graphics, the addition of the mechs guarding bases and the weapons.
So your entire gripe with the game is random zombies will spawn in buildings after you've already been in them? V 0.95 now and I can't say I've had that issue, or if I did, it wasn't gamebreaking or noticeable enough to make a video saying how bad the game is and only use that as an example. Scum is still the best survival game there is right now imo. My only complaint is the 40 dollar price tag. But you can still get it for 15 on key sites
I did play the game since 2019 till it stop to be fun at 0.8 more exactly, had 1.5K hrs of gameplay. And i agree 100% with what you saying in this video and you are not the only one who said it. Even people who have their names in the game said it and left the game after they seen how bad this game become. The game is totally DEAD. People just stop losing your time with it because is not worth it. This game is in a deep dark hole and has no way out anymore, the hole name is Jagex and they only want Scum devs to make them money, they are their slaves now is GAME OVER for live.
Scum has some major issues, it’s called the devs. I’ve not enjoyed this game for a long time and and like you said it’s a shame as it had so much potential. To me it feels more like a console game now but I’m suspicious that that is their goal, simple it down for console to make more money.

I had a 3 year break from this game. Came back now and wtf? Spent around 60 hours then I stopped. I got so angry. Posted a review on Steam and after I started to google if the feeling was mutural 2024 or if was just me. Then I stumbled on this channel and this video. I agree with you 100%. I wrote this on Steam before I started to google and alot of that is what you bring up in this video. Thank you for outing them! My review: "Thousands of hours played in this game. Had a break for around 3 years. Just came back and... wtf did you do to this game? What is this "fortnite skins" type of shit you focus on. What happened? Building is shit. I just removed a stair going to the roof and 24 pieces of the roof got destroyed. Where is the bug fixes that you did so beautiful week after week. You guys where my favourite developers. You actually cared and worked on making it better. But this? I really don't understand wtf has happened to this game but it makes me sad. Devs blocked a lot of people for pointing things out. Their just hotheaded fools ruining their own game. They still haven't fixed puppet spawns what makes the game just not fun to play.
Scum was also the game that made me realized how fake some content creators are. They try to mask and make a game sound way better and appealing for viewers but the reality is completely different. Sickens me honestly
I started playing when 0.5 came out and it was funniest game to survive off scraps and as little gear possible but now the traders are a core feature that you have to get money for respawns otherwise your character gets a permadeath which forces players to interact with traders which is annoying and not fun at all animal spawns used to be great and you were able to track animals now you can’t. Now with the stupid new horde system the game has completely shit the bed clearing a area is completely pointless now due the puppets spawns constantly spawning where ever they like within your current vicinity. The map is massive which each sector have a bunker and loot that can keep players in a sector forever pretty much reducing interactions with players compare this with dayz players have to choose to stay on the coast containing low tier loot or start heading inland to compete with more players for better tier loot which is great keeps players always looking over their shoulder. In dayz your most likely going to to bump into player every hour or so unless you don’t want to be seen, but scum on the other hand I swear I never see a single soul if scum implemented the audio that dayz has for gun fire players would be able to hear players from a much further distance, the flying drone used to fly to players locations promoting pvp but that is long gone now.

Don’t be ridiculous😂 the game had a good concept but ruined by entitlement, poor leadership and greed. You can’t even encounter any sort of wildlife without playing a “mini game”…let me inform you-that system is in the game because the game wouldn’t handle animals running around on the server - causing too much lag and instability. So their solution to that is to have you play a mini game of “hide and track” so the game would spawn animals in your area… They removed birds a long time ago for the same reason. You loot one house, then come across a screamer, the house you looted earlier becomes packed with puppets again! And all of that ammo you wasted earlier was for nothing. Once again don’t be ridiculous…
and why is it that we need to pay for gas at a gas station that's ruled by Z's... if the gas station was ruled by a vendor i could understand the payment thing but no. we have to pay anyway which makes no FFing sense when you tryin to survive.
They broke puppet spawn the old one was so much better I use to run a pve server with puppets all over now even on max it’s not that many why do they keep remaking the same things over and the game just gets worse how you take all the cars and plains out and rework them and a year laiter still not all back was exited for boses and quests barely any boss now I hear about one coming you can’t kill how dose this sound fun a quest sistam we have no idea what will it rilley be like base power Whear is it 5 years waiting I hope they can turn it around but it’s not looking good started playing once human having a blast

I used to buy a game for $60 and not get any DLC and enjoy the game as long as you could but now they add DLC patches bug fixes you guys want all that shit for free so when they add something that you have to pay for so that the debs could get more money for these patches and DLC‘s and upgrades and bug fixes you guys wanna bitch and moanso how do you play game before you have to pay for the new stuff you do it for free forever?
Or maybe instead of releasing new DLCs and or new content, use the base money you’ve already collected from thousands of players and use that to patch what’s already in the game instead of releasing new content and ignoring the broken system already implemented in the game? The game has very few weapons. I bought this trash 6 years ago. revisiting every 2 years with no significant changes. tubers like raykit are a joke. Why anyone wants to play this car scavenging sim is beyond me. there is nothing appealing about it. It's just a static world with poorly implemented ai.
Scum was great right up to adding trader town. All they had to do was optimize the game, fix the bugs and blammo release it. Nope. When they added traders, it was crashes and bugs for me, so I haven't played since. Damn shame.

They failed because they didn't give a shit about their player base. They sold the game to 3 different publishers over the course of their lifetime. idk bro i got disagree on one thing, those hair dlcs and crap was easy 1-2step done content so it not really worth getting work up over. BUT, this game got some big ol problems and needs some direction. They started off strong with the tv show ideal and having criminals fight and survive on a island and I kin da like the scifi monster stuff but the actual game and its loop....is awful and feels so unfinished and lackluster. The games wants to do pvp but there is not a lot pvp and the game wants to do pve and it is also lacking and buggy and the enemies just popping up out nowhere feels weird. The survival elements are awesome but on most servers are undermined or even removed with loot and once you combine all this you got a rather boring and empty game The way its developing I can not see a good outcome and thats a shame
