Scum SP S4E11 - Getting started on our new base!

Now that we've got a base location picked out, it's time to get to work! I finished building the garden and planting what seeds we had on us, and now we get to work building a home. The plan is to build a cabin with a porch overlooking the pond, with an attached fishing dock stretching out into the water a short distance. Let me know if you have any suggestions for the build! I also practice my cooking skills a bit so we don't die of starvation!

Half of your sticks went into the lake. If you look at the tree branch, it has a branch that sticks out at a 45° angle on one end. This is the direction that the sticks will fall. Make sure it is pointing in a helpful direction where you can access all the sticks. Value for money et al.

Knives are more common than axes. When filling a blue(green) print, I would fill with a knife to preserve the longevity of the axe as it does take some health each time you use it.

That is true. I could just do like Miller suggested and use a stone knife. They are essentially infinite since they require no tools to craft and are the easiest material to find. They just don't last long. I may do that from now on to save on my axe (and my bushman).

You should keep a chest by the garden to keep all your seeds and watering can in. Makes things easier. Lots of little towns around you for some exploring if you want. And don't have to travel to far. Can fix up that motorcycle you saw for some exploring

I fully intend to put a chest by the garden. That one doesn't need to be very big, so it'll probably be a basic chest. I'd forgotten about that bike, though. That would make for a nice project. Fix it up, maybe add the saddle bags, then use that for some nice local exploring. That's exactly what I wanted to do with Scum when I first started playing. Thanks for the reminder!

Since you're going to try fishing next episode, search the dirt right on the shore of the lake. You're VERY likely to find worms there. Just FYI. This doesn't work on a sandy beach, but the dark brown "dirt" next to lakes has a LOT of worms for fishing.

That's what I found at the lake house last season. That's another reason why I wanted a lake/pond as opposed to a beach/ocean base location. Yeah, the ocean has bigger fish, but a lake is easier and I can still get plenty of fish for me.

Randomly stumbled a crossed the channel I have been binge watching while at work and gaming. I enjoy the slower style and the loot table seem balanced. I don't have the game yet.

I'm glad you're enjoying it! I would highly recommend the game, if open world zombie survival games with realistic survival mechanics is your style. Single Player mode gives you an insane amount of control of the world, so you can tailor it to your playstyle. I love it. And if there's anything in particular you'd like to see this season (locations, gear, different elements of the game, etc.) let me know!

I love this area so much I've decided to build there myself in my SP game. I'm learning a lot watching this series. I found a wheel barrow in one of the buildings nearby. I think that may help with log transportation. For some reason, I have puppets spawning on the far left side of the pond toward the town, but I don't see them spawning there in your game. Oh well, gives me a chance to increase my archery skills. 🏹

Not sure why you have the puppets spawning there, but I have puppet spawn settings tweaked quite a bit. More puppets in the world, but no hordes, and "low player count mode" turned on. I wonder if the puppets spawning there for you is tied to the horde system. It's still wonky and causes puppets to spawn where they shouldn't.

on the mushrooms i've cooked with one them that was poisonous and did fine did it again and got poisoned so don't know if it's hit and miss or you have to have a high cooking skill to negate the poison
