How to remove stock tires from glued on RTR wheels:
Preheat Oven to 325
Place tires on cookie sheet
Bake tires for 20 mins
Remove from oven and remove the bead from the wheel on the side that is facing up
Flip tires over and put back in the oven for 5 mins
Remove from oven and completely remove tire from the wheel

i just bought the rtr jk and i love it. great value imo. the selling points that got me was the transmission and the metal links. the only upgrades iv done was tires, wheels and a receiver so i can use my own remote. great rc!

If your just beginning axial should be ok, but they look like a TOY, if your are planning to get a good looking or more scale starter RTR, go with the RC4WD trail finder Marlin Edition, Buy it during the ecash at Tower Hobbies, use the coupon too, for a great discount

+EnzosToyRoom while the hard body truck does look more scale for sure, they also do not perform nearly as well. They are not built as well either in terms of bearing sizes, axle gears, axle shafts, or electronics.

I totally agree with you, Axial way out perform the RC4WD TF2, but the price of the Axial SCX10 Ii are pretty much over price ($409) for what the are including in there kit or RTR, they should offer better component with it, which traxxas offer better feature and specs for the price.

In my personal opinion, Axial client like me who own scx10 before, I am not be too keen to jump in to buy another Scx10ii. Because Axial putting more of there budget in sponsorship, endorsement and advertisements, Axial give us Metal bumper, interior, steel wheels, more hard plastic in installed option.(included in the kit or RTR)

Rc4wd Stuff just don't hold up yea they look scale but when I drive my tf2 for the second time ever and diffs go out with a 45t motor so they make it look good but quality is just not there my 10.2 kit would do circles around any Rc4wd hardbody rig now my buddy has a tf2 marlin crawler hardbody on a 10.2 and it looks bad ass but again just having the hardbody on the 10.2 takes from its performance as well

As long as you are happy with what you buy that ok, I know that Axial way out performed the RC4WD TF2, but at the price point, Axial have the option give more performance, tech or detailed accessories which give better value to there customer ( or repeat customer) , I do have a scx10 full vanquish mods and max out accessories , the only original component left from axial is the frame.

Tried your tire baking method on some old Wildpeaks from the one of the previous RTR's. Worked wonderfully. I did have to do 10 min after the initial 20 on 3 of them. 1 of them took 15 min after the initial 20 to finally let go. Thanks for laying that out for us. Look forward to more videos of that JK on the rocks. Take it to Tahoe, run the Rubicon Trail!!!

Im glad I got my SCX10 II XJ kit last year or Id really be scratching my head now trying to choose between the 2 *lol* . I usually always get the kits as I love building them but the new RTR JK has some nice "upgrades" that bring the 2 trucks closer together.

You do a good job at selling. You use all the psychological techniques to make your viewers lean towards your choice......how much you get for this video? Not giving you a hard time I'm actually really impressed. I already purchased the RTR JK and I LOVE IT!!!! Very very impressed with it's set up and capability out of the box. The only upgrade I plan on doing is weighted wheels with a bit larger and more aggressive tire. Going to cut out my body fenders and move flares up as high as possible to compensate. Besides that it doesn't need anything till it breaks.

The honcho. Was first a kit with bead locks. Than they made it to rtr “economic” now they are releasing the honcho as a rtr “economic”. I prefer to buy the kit version. And just buy the Traxxas xl5/ titán system for $20 from the people that rip it out of their Traxxas cars. And I just get a $12 high torque metal servo that lasts me forever. Then I buy a $10 orange rx and call it good. I abuse my trucks so if any of the electronics go out. I replace them. But so far I’ve been using it for 4 years. And they still work. Under water, sand dunes, trailing in the rain full of mud. All thanks to plastidip

Thank you for the baking instructions you put in the description. I am going to try it. Don't worry about it cause it is rtr tire's, if I mess up, I am to blame and I will just buy new tires. This just gives me the option to change them over to beadlocks and keep my tires to save money and I appreciate that and your time.

Great run down! With the first gen, choosing the Axial kit was sort of a no-brainer, but the rtr in the second gen is more tempting. Although actually building a kit holds great value for me. The RTR in kit form then.... 🤔

I’m running my kit with the exact same set up Tekin rx4 and roc412 2300kv i run it on 4s and turn my spectrum controller down to 63% throttle and have a very smooth start up and more than adequate wheel speed in any situation!

Trying to decide between the two at the moment. Locally $410 for rtr, and $325 for kit. Buying the electronics in-store brings the kit up to $550 ($230 for the electronics) not counting tax. I also found cheap stuff on amazon for a total of about $90. That route I'm at about the same cost as the rtr, and again with a servo that might not last long, but at least the other couple advantages. It's not easy being cheap.

Hi there, I'm a budget type of guy, if I buy an RTR, I don't spend any money on it unless I have to, the components should be fine for a while. When I buy a kit, I buy a flysky radio, Japanese m995/6 servos, 2 for about $12. I use the hobbyking x-car esc with drag brake, costs $14 and $15 batteries along with the $20 charger. I've been using the same setup for my gmade sawback jeep, 2 tamiya cc01s, tamiya tt02 subaru rally car, tamiya holiday buggy and tamiya globe liner rig. Some are 2/3 years old with no breakages. My vaterra ascender ford bronco is RTR, bog standard as it comes, 14 months old and no breakages. So you see, you don't have to spend a thousand bucks to get out there and have fun. I drive my rc's as they are meant to be driven. I am finding it fascinating that people buy a $400/500 rc and feel they have to upgrade it immediately, even before they run it. Must be nice to have money to throw around. Loved the video and enjoyed the difference between the two rc's. I really enjoy you're videos, you have a lot of knowledge and experience of the kits/rtrs. Why do companies make products that need upgrading, why are they not sound straight out of the box. Sorry for rambling on. Great video. 😀 👍 👍 👍

When I see an rc video I ask where the parts came from, and sometimes the person will post a link to the parts. Hope this helps. I just bought 2 esc's from eBay for less than $10 from China. I've got them before, and they work great. 😀

Great review....! I'm now choosing between the TRX4 and the SCX10 II. I'm having second thoughts about the TRX4 locking diffs since I've read about burning servos on it. This review gave me a lot of information and made me lean towards the SCX10 now. Great video, great info... Subbed...!

I like the metal geared transmission and lights. My kit 10.2 had the AE5, TSX55 servo, and 35t can motor... we haven't had any issues with the two TSX45 servos we have, on the 2.2 Bomber the lower torque is a bit noticable, and neither compare with my HiTec 7955tg, but they're pretty decent for a RTR.

The Nitto tires in R35 comping would be sweet.... too bad they don't have all the tires in R35, amd the rtr would do better on the rocks with the softer compound. I use power from my radio system and a CC BEC for powering lights on some rigs, just modify a servo extension from an aux channel port to plug lights into.... I've also used e-flite LED controllers, which power a good number of LEDs and can turn them on or off from the 3rd channel, but the BEC has to be set lower than 6V, and I haven't tried running the LED controller at 6V yet, but plan to try that soon... I can't decide right now, a JK RTR, a Cherokee RTR , or build a regular SCX10 with CMS for next truck (I have a spare set of axles at the moment, with CVDs and Vanquish bits...) leaning toward saving the spare axles for now for our 2 SCX10 rigs and making the next rig my youngest daughter's choice between the Cherokee or JK ready to run trucks. Please let me know how you like that Tekin brushless setup and if it handles 3s well... thanks again for the videos, amd happy holidays!

a Novak brushed 3s waterproof system and motor used to be like 80 but that was 3 years ago been out the game that long lol a solar servo for 20 and a fly sky radio rx tx for 60 back then was the cheap good choice

i bought the kit wt 55t brushed plus hobbywing esc and 3000mAh turnigy 2s. super smooth and technical trail vehicle. it gets rough on rocks though. very nice built but tends to gain some play/flex after some time on the trails. my shocks got too soft wt 30t oil. i will put 45t cos it gets lost cool vid btw..

I get that completely. I just got back in after 16 years out of the RC world. Last one I bought was the RTR HPI Hellfire nitro stadium truck. I played around and broke it over and over. Took me forever to understand it and fix it because I was young, impatient, and eager to full throttle. Building is the way to go if you are dedicated to the hobby. I am still just in it for the fun. Hopefully I will do upgrades to this one (RTR SCX10 II JK 2017) and get hooked enough to buy a kit.... good luck and keep rocking the builds bro!!!

Nice compare and contrast. Have the new RTR on order, we'll see when it gets here... What do you think about the feasibility of stretching the 1.9 BFGs onto a 1.2" wide 2.2 wheel like a Method Roost? Too wide a wheel, make the side wall look weird? Thx!

Got a question josh ! Have you noticed the play that’s in the spur gear ? It’s like the diameter is off for the spur gear drive shaft or bearings inside the tranny not sure but could be bearings.Going to look more into this . But I installed a new motor and noticed it . Just wandering if its just mine lol Thanks !

For me, building and working on RC's is half the fun, if not even more than driving. So kit for me. However if the RTR has some better parts I might consider it. I don't care much for the shitty electronics that are usually in RTR's. But for beginners I guess RTR is nice.

Here's my dilemma. I have a scx10 honcho with a transmission that matches the rtr. I want a second scx10-ii for the improved steering, clearance and CMS for class 1. I have all types of bumpers for class 1 or 2. The tires don't matter on these two because they will be swapped out anyway. I have a Novak rooster crawler setup in my current rig. Obviously if I bought the kit id budget myself to 250-300 for a motor esc combo. I have good servos to throw in either version I get. If I get the rtr id put my novak setup in it and take the rtr esc/ motor and put it in my honcho, to hold me off till I pony up to get some good electronics. My biggest concern is the transmission. Is it worth it to get the rtr to have matching parts and spares for the transmission to interchange with my honcho or is the kit transmission a better design. I also plan to fully vanquish f9 convert the axles on either one of these youre discussing, and want to take the stock parts i remove and throw them on the honcho. Ihave no desire to go with a 2 speed.

Thanks For showing the comparison on the rtr and kit version. Do you think axial will release a clear 2017 JK body and last question do you think other manufacturers will make different front and rear bumpers for the new RTR version?

+Souledout RC I do expect to see clear bodies available however they will not likely include the fender flares and grill details. They will likely be purchased separately. Any SCX10 bumper should fit this model, so it’s just a matter of choosing the one you want.

+Bernal Mora hmmm, I’d probably go RTR just because it’s super simple and low center of gravity. I like the kit trans too for some reasons but in the end, I find myself going back to the 3 gear.

Great video...im looking at this kit version and the TF2 kit...but I also keep seeing these TFL rigs on ebay, they look great with all the aluminum machined parts etc but I don't see many people talking about those up against the axial or rc4wd rigs....can you please help me out with any more info or recommendations? +Jaime Cunningham TFL is a cheaper overseas brand so you won’t find much support for them. They are like an Integy type brand. You’re much better off to go with an established brand. As for the RC4WD TF2, they are nice but they are not the same type of truck as an Axial.

Ok that's what I was thinking and afraid of about the TFL's....But I think I'm going to start with the scx10ii kit, Mainly because i want the higher grade parts, motor,esc,servo etc...once thats under my belt then I'll probably build a TF2 to have a leaf spring truck as well...time to drain the piggy bank...lol Thanks again bud awesome video 🖒

Hell no not one of axial's RCs is worth the price they give you the most plastic parts out of literally every company that makes a crawler but it's Axial with a crazy fanboys so they always sell. I had the CRC scx10ii 2017 jk and plastic shocks, pivot balls,and super flimsy cheap body definitely not worth 420$ after tax. I'd say it's about 200$ worth if you take away the Axial name lmao.

Going with the kit, going to use it in comps.That means, motor and ESC going in the trash to be replaced with brushless. Tires going in the trash to be replace with real brand (proline most likely they work well in the sandy conditions in Florida), soft compound and two stage foam with heavy mass bead locks. Bumpers? Shelby Holmes Yes, as long as you can follow directions. If your oven temp is too hot you will break down the rubber.

You mean the Raw Builders Kit version? Yes they are interchangable, however the original RTR version is a better style. It just doesn't include the metal gears, however it is more upgradeable.

How would evaluate the SCX 10 ii RTR vs the Traxxas TRX4 or the redcat po 7 for a first RC crawler???

The TRX4 is a great truck and pretty dependable. However I just don’t love driving it. I prefer the SCX10-2 for the modification ability. If you like to modify, it’s the one I’d suggest. If you just want to buy it and forget it, TRX is great also.

Hello, I am thinking of building a SCX10 II. I use 2S batteries for drifting so if I were able to continue using them, that would be great, but any setup with S bullet style batteries will be fine. I was wondering if you would tell me what Motor/ESC/Servo setup I should go for if I want them to be waterproof?

2s batteries are fine, I just prefer the power of 3s. The motor and ESC depend on price. I put some links to different combos of different prices in my SCX10-2 kit build series. Check that out and see if you have any other questions I can help with.

Would the Mamba/HH Puller pro allow for a plug and play installation? I see that they both use the bullet style connectors. Also, would that setup allow for a Crawler that can get a a little speed up on hard surfaces? I understand crawlers are for crawling, but I would like to build a rig that can do a bit of grip driving with a slight setup change. Thank you for your time and I look forward to watching your new videos. I just started getting into RC this year because I have been wanting to do so for quite some time now.

hi there, was wondering why did you recommend the trailmaster 35t vs rcwd 35t or 15$ brushed motor? Is there a difference between HH and other brushed motor from the same price point?

+Azmi J Holmes Hobbies is US based and takes care of customers. They know brushed motors better than anyone in our niche if the industry. Even for a simple sealed can motor, they are my go to brushed motor choice.

Eric Bostick mine have been great, RTR AX10 rock racer turned scaler, old truck and shocks still work nicely, leak very little 9+ years in... Deadbolt RTR, Bomber RTR, AND 10.2 kit all are good... once in a while I clean them and ready oil them, and lube all the o-rings with AE green slime...

I've never had a leaking problem with my Axial shocks.
