Talk about a well-traveled unit, at 3:26 you see CP 5482 as the second unit. I thought it highly unusual for CP to order high-hood SD40's, and sure enough that is a Southern Railway unit that left SR and went to CP at some point. As of last year it was still in operation, rebuilt as a low-hood and working for an elevator in rural Illinois as an NREX lease unit.
Fantastic place I camped here for a week back when via was Running this way . Sad that people don’t see this fantastic spot I did 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 great video . Robin out .
Wow, that was fantastic! Thanks! That brings back memories of the SD40-2s roaring up the grade into Ingolf, near the Ontario/Manitoba border with grain trains headed for the Lakehead docks. I remember lots and lots of intermodel and manifest trains too. My favorite ones e3ee
Thanks for posting Jack, great video with beautiful vista's. You sure did get around , you've shot trains EVERYWHERE , and We're the beneficiary's of that. Thanks, looking forward to your next post.
God how I missed that sound nothing beats the old stuff roaring down the tracks remember it well. Hope to make it back to Northern Ontario one of these days.
My phone screwed up, I meant it say my favorite trains at Ingolf were the coal trains that had 4 SD40-2 s. I could here it coming up the grade for 45 minutes before it arrives. Awesome memories. 👌
Excellent footage. I do miss SD40-2s but good God, hearing protection (8th notch) was required. I could always trouble shoot an SD40 as opposed to today's GE. I was always fond of an old "sweaty" DC unit vs a shiny new GE. Now, railroading pretty much sucks overall.
