Thanks Becca and Carol. Grateful for your engagement here. A little background on why Teresa of Avila resonates with our community ... SDI is a global, contemplative, educational nonprofit. We represent a group of spiritual companions, who use the art of listening to help others find their own spiritual paths. About 6,600 members in 42 countries. Spiritual companionship is its own calling. These are amazing people with patience, experience and the ability NOT to project their own issues and priorities, but rather encourage the person they companion to discover and embrace their own connection with a Higher Power, however they might name it. This is how our executive director, Anil Singh-Molares puts it in a recent article on the "Intimacy of Spiritual Companionship": "Spiritual directors have a special role to play by establishing a safe space for you, listening deeply and intently, spiritually, and letting your authentic self shine through. Ideally, we are mirrors that allow you to see yourself more clearly. We strive very hard not to impose our own vision, so as not to distort the image. All of this is meant to allow you to see what is already inside you. You are your own best teacher." www.sdiworld.org/ Show less REPLY
