Good to see reviews are back Will. I was literally watching a couple of older ones last night after I watched the latest news video, was wondering if you were going to do more. No one really does Aussie models like they do overseas, except yourself, so, I for one would love to see more. With the history recap and current status of a fleet of locos or wagons like you do plus honest review without ratings is a winner IMO. Pretty much everything is exceptional at the moment but it's still good to see product get the spotlight.
Ah they are certainly back! The issue is being able to afford these models to do the reviews! But I'm trying to keep them coming when Ive got the money for new releases! So I've got a few more coming! Just need to find the time to write/shoot and edit the videos! Thank you so much for the comment!
Nice review Will. SDS did a great job on this model. I like your style of reviews as they are honest and trustworthy for those looking at getting the same model. I like how you added a bit of history about the 81 as well. Now that it's been weathered it looks so good. - Nicholas.
Great review as others say you do a great honest assessment, I like the way that you say what you see. Hope you are able to do more I understand it is a bit expensive to do.
Thanks for the review Will. SDS have done a fantastic job with this model. From 1982 until 2014. I used to play with the 1:1 scale 81 class locomotives. I remember them brand new when I was working out of Broadmeadow Depot in NSW. These are most definitely on of my favourite Diesel locomotives. I wish you and my fellow model railway enthusiasts a Merry Christmas.
Another video in the toilet it looks like! To many mistakes again. I think this might sign the end of the videos for awhile or at least until I can find someone to proof them!
Will I have always has a soft sport of 8170 since I got a cab ride in 8170 from Moss Vale to Goulburn. The model looks great and I love your understated review. Also enjoyed seeing the points lever on your own layout.
Excellent review! Been considering getting one of these but had been trying to find any videos demonstrating the sounds of the model. After hearing yours here I think I’m sold! The candy scheme just looks so nice as well. Get that with an Aurora set or something for some nice through running and I’ll be set.
@@WillJamesRailways it certainly would and you're welcome! Went out and bought myself 8176 with sound so I guess I have no excuse now not to order an Aurora set to go with it along with finishing building my kit RUB set haha.
Will, thank you for a great review. I am still awiting mine, I ordered a Mark III in Freight Rail colours, hopefully I will get it by easter. I agree, it is disappointing that there is no crew fitted, I think that does just finish it off. Once you get your model back from Andy, it would be great to see some photos of it weathered, even just on Facebook. Cheers, and stay safe, Michael
Ah that's great to hear Michael! I mean it's something that can be easily fixed, but still would have been nice! Something i can do! Thanks again for watching!
Thanks Will, SDS did a great detailed model. I have four 81's two Mk1 and two Mk 2 have you noticed that the top five fan covers and no. 2 end mansard intake cover grill is not silver. SDS had trouble getting silver tint into the plastic to match. I masked off the large grill with very low tack tape and very carefully removed all five roof fan guards and painted them silver, the model looks way better now. Cheers for the review.
Nice detailed review.Like to know about mechanism and what's under the hood.Good view of chassis layout, wiring and speaker setup.Ozzy locos usually are well designed in this respect.Don't know why Sds did not include drivers in cab,as they sell these, and are not expensive. Not a fan of Esu,but can easily plug in another brand. One question.Does the DC version have speakers fitted?
Going to need a little more information! Scale, era, dc or DCC and with or without sound. What rolling stock do you have or is there something you want to collect?
