My new mics are in! I did a quick test and compared them against my much cheaper Digital Reference mics (along with a few assorted cheap, Chinese mics). This one is a bit long, but hopefully you get a good idea of the sE Electronics drum mics.
I picked these up from Sweetwater Sound at www.Sweetwater.com, since many other retailers had a special order/no return policy on them. I highly recommend Sweetwater for anything audio related (no, they aren't sponsoring this). If you use one of their sales agents, you can sometimes get deals on your order. Ask for Gage and tell them Brian sent you :)
One thing I didn't mention in the video is their sturdiness. These mics are built strong and their clips really hold on. When you pack them away, you do need to tilt the mic a bit, but the height adjustment on the mount can be left which I found really nice. Also, the V7X and the V Beat share the same capsule, which is why I didn't test the V Beat on the 16" floor tom. I may still do that in a later video though.
Note: I realized after I uploaded this that I wrote the sE Electronics mic titles incorrectly in the video titles. Such is life, you can still tell what they are, even if they're written vBeat instead of V Beat. :)
