We just love sea days! They are all about rest and relaxing... and exploring the ship. While Alisa was in a class learning more about HAL, Jason scopes out the best spots to hang by the pool. The Nieuw Statendam has two pools, one midship on Lido with a retractable roof and one on the aft of the ship in full sun. So there is a perfect spot to matter what you are in the mood for. And we discover that the food is just wonderful on this ship! From salads to hand-scooped ice cream, it was all delicious!!

When I came to the spot in the video, when you were watching the people trying to put their towels on their chaise lounges. I was thinking to myself, they sure didn't watch the video ,when Alisa goes to the Dollar Tree and recommends buying those large plastic clips!😉

I love that you think the same way as my husband and I. We also find something to like on each ship we are on. We have never had a bad cruise! On one ship we really did not find the food great but the piano bar guy was so entertaining we had so much fun. Just one example. Of course the first cruise with all 4 kids when I found our twin boys walking around with pizza in one hand and ice cream in the other hand is something I will never forget! Boy I cannot wait to cruise again!

We are getting ready for our first ever cruise! And we will be on Holland America to the Caribbean. Really loving your videos. Very descriptive and fun. It’s so wild to watch this video from February 2020 and think about how much life for everybody was about to change! Lol, what a crazy couple of years it’s been. Can’t wait for my cruise and to watch more of your videos.

I have long been a fan of Holland America mainly because of the smaller size of the ships and the more layed back atmosphere and traditional sailing appeal. And the staff really know how to spoil you and treat you special, especially with the smaller passenger size and better crew to passenger ratios.

...even tho few are sailing right now we can still dream, and plan another cruise....snap pic pages you find a good deal on...print and refer to later...you might get a deal if you now about it first ...book later when things loosen up....

Well now that you learned some stuff, I have about 18 questions I will be emailing you for my upcoming cruise! Haha. Looks like nice weather, and it was quite funny watching folks mess with their towels. One of the reasons I enjoy HAL are they are on the smaller side and fewer guests so there are not lines for everything! Thanks for sharing your experience :)

I love your vids. They echo our thoughts. We are middle aged and have been cruising Holland America for a decade. They are kind of a "best kept secret" for folks that want a relaxing but high quality cruise with great eats and good evening jams. The music walk is fantastic. We have been all over with HAL and have no complaints. Really hoping more Gen Xers discover Holland America. They offer a quality midsize ship cruise and a great vacation experience!

One reason, we’ve only sailed Holland America, more of a relaxing cruise, we were changing our minds, & thinking about other cruiselines, 8th cruise with Holland America, scared of change, as we know what we’re getting with them.

Have been on two different HA ships. Loved them both. Service and food were excellent. Did Alaska and then the next one was Nova Scotia and New England in the Fall. Great trips both times.

We’ll be doing the Norwegian fjords onthis ship in late June/early July. We will have been vaccinated (including the booster) by that time, so really keeping everything crossed that it will go ahead. The ship looks lovely, and not too crowded. Can’t wait.

Great presentation, thanks for sharing your experience. We have had both our Statendam transatlantic cruises cancelled due to COVID. We have yet to go on a cruise, maybe one day. Noticed that you both have braces on your lower teeth. Great to do things together.😎

We went on this ship as part of a chartered cruise. It was a Legendary Rhythm and Blues cruise. Talk about a fantastic cruise. Look them up.

I love HAL! I prefer the outdoor pool. The inside has way to much noise. I was just on NS sister ship, Koningsdam in January and Nieuw Amsterdam in March. My Mom was a Daylily person and knew that guy from The Mule. My daughter and I took her to the movie and she kept talking out loud, lol. After dealing with cancer for 3 years she didn't use her filter anymore. "That didn't happen" "He was a jerk!" "Well, they got that wrong!" Jason, that is called Pickleball. Love Happy Hour! They are usually at 4 and 10 PM in only certain bars. How much did you pay for the internet package day 2?

I'm a 311 nerd. They have a cruise every other year and an event that's either in NOLA or Las Vegas on the in between years of the cruise called 311 day. I've been to 2 311 Day..but no cruises yet.

I want to clarify that my husband and I always just eat at the buffet. I don’t have fancy taste it’s just that some. Buffets are very repetitive and skimpy. I love a Princess buffet.

You want to see some contrast, watch the Coral Princess Ghost Ship video, it's eerie and strange to see a ship so deserted. Great video as usual, don't forget to get to the thermal suite, go during early dinner seating, won't be anybody in there.

I think at 10:32 Jason mentions Distant Lands as the spot he got his lunch at. Did I hear that correctly? Is that part of the buffet? Hubby and I have never sailed with Holland America cruise line but I sure am curious to try it, as I hear it’s like Princess Cruise line, which we loved though we’re in our 30s (as opposed to the perception that PCL & HAL are for old fogeys).

It’s not that it’s for fogeys, it’s that every cruise I’ve been on with them I have been the youngest person and less than 1 percent of the cruisers were my age. It was strange to see the hallways lined with walkers

So sad! We were supposed to get on that same cruise chartered by my company and it canceled 4 days before were were suppose to live :( We were already packed! The company said they will re schedule because it was completely paid for, but it's getting later and later in the year :(

We toured the teen club and there were several in there who were enjoying themselves. Teens seem to want like minds to hang out with, I know our boys do. Plus a pool, ice cream and pizza and they are happy.
