Session down to low an part the way back up searching for dab, plaice and any other flatfish. Was expecting the whiting to be a pain, wasnt disappointed on that score. 4 species managed, nice sunny winter day, enjoyed being out.
Aww, Dungie brings backs some memories, with my Grandad & big Les Moncrieff. .. I was a wipper snapper way back then, with my 12ft Seally hollow fibreglass rod, & Intrepid Sea Streak multiplier 😨 ... you had to use fresh "DUNGIE" (black) lug big baits, tipped with a couple of blow lug ... I caught a 15lb & 18lb cod (plus a few smaller ones) during one nìght flood tide session 😉 ... How did you do?? 😊 lol x
People used to refer to "The Dustbin" as the hotpot at Dungey. .. but the location forever changes, cos of tide & shingle/sand movement. ... the flood tows west to east (right to left). Watch it during a flat calm day, when you're not fishing & just having a picnic or summat. .. and see the "boil" 😉
👍 Think i remember that name from years ago the dustbin. There are diggers an dumpers all along the area at the moment moving shingle, loads ends up around Dymchurch an they take it back up.
Nice session with a bit of variety. I fished T23 on the big tides last week & had 2 Rays & a mountain of Whiting. A times the Whiting were coming in 3 at a time on a pennel rig & didn’t give anything else a chance.
