That lost fish gave an aggressive take. A bass? Love the doggies. They always look like you've just disturbed their nap. Their eyes are amazing. My first day of the year tomorrow fishing the salt; wish me luck.
Hi Matt. I personally would never fish this pier , cant take your own sarnies and flask. Absolutely ridiculous. And then get ripped off for your food and drink. I hope nobody fishes it. BTW loved the video as usual. Sorry about the rant but it needs saying.
Cheers Dave , thanks Chris for bringing this up. I can refer this all back to them too because they are not Anglers.Hopefully we can force a change. The thing is the pier is not owned by the people anymore and is in effect someone’s property. When I win the lottery I’ll buy it back and we can eat what ever we want
@@SaltwaterAngler its mental no one will fish it , you travel there with butties and flask , eat and drink before u fish , wont work , good luck with lotto matt
It is ridiculous and will ironically stifle business from locals and I'd imagine a not insignificant number of anglers too. If they enticed people to use the pier freely, they would have casual buyers anyway. Otherwise it just smacks of underhanded and petty monopolising.
Nice video thanks Matt! I do love a bit of Pier fishing, mainly because it's about the only marks I can access nowadays. Ours isn't as wide as Hastings though! Very pretty Dogfish - I know they are often moaned at, but I like the look of 'em! Stay safe & well - Dave. 🎣🎣👍👍
Wow all that space to yourself Matt, find it strange that you can’t have a flask & sandwich while fishing though. Great video to watch and you didn’t blank, well done and cheers mate👍
Yea maybe that’s why I had all the space. I can understand why the lack of bringing food is strange historically us sea anglers always love a snack! Not sure how enforced it would be but it’s a private pier and they don’t even have to have us, I just hope enough people fish here so we can show how popular angling is
you could fish all year round on the pier and it would be nice to see the fishing deck back to use i was born in Hastings in 1959 so i remember what the pier had on it
I guess i'm snagging on some of its remnant's at times ! Lovely to hear from someone that Fished there Years ago. I was looking at some old Brown and white photos of tope being caught .
Well i did enjoy that, great fun in changeable conditions. For the tackle i use please visit my Blog here mattlingard02.wixsite.com/saltwater/post/sea-fishing-tackle-i-use and if its Piers you like how about this video here ; ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LlZjQdm-a1g.html
Hi Matt, I am at Hastings pier right now fishing with my family but we aren’t allowed near the end of the pier we have to stay near the middle. Do you have any tips for us?
@Saltwater Angler so, it's very coloured water. Local tackle shop said always a chance spinning but I didn't have much hope. Defo a fresh bait mark. Thanks tho, and awesome content 👍
How the Pier has changed over the years. I fished there with my Dad early 70's and my Dad fished it till the day it was closed literally while he was fishing. Some of the old guard from back in the day Reg, Albert, Dickie Dan would cringe seeing it now. We had some good times fishing there with multiple species, and just loved fishing from the landing stage before it was left to rack and ruin. A sad sight but at least its still standing and open. I was known as Slasher as i used to cast very low, that low i crowned my old man one night on the landing stage with a 6oz lead. I still have that lead floating around somewhere. Reg gave me the that handle as it goes.
Nice one matt, i never fish piers these days I'm more at home on the beach but respect for the way you returned the fish instead of the long drop and inevitable slap/stun. Went yesterday to use up rag and got picky bites resulting in a late whiting, 2 trips no blank (so far) roll on the weekend and an unfavourable neap tide but will be chucking nonetheless...
High Matt, just went to look at a video i think was one of your's ? But removed by unloader ? Was it one of your's, had notification of upload. Cheers Les. Think the no food or drink of your own is a bit harsh 😕 as most I think like me take my own butties pork pie or two and a nice flask and hot drink. Now more so than ever in these hard times, I am also on a pension so even harder now. I would probably on the beach take water, tea bags, milk, and my little gas burner & kettle. ( maybe not a good idea for the wooden pier though ) . Looking forward to your next one. Cheers Les.
@Saltwater Angler High Matt, bit of a late reply 😳 sorry. I would be pretty certain that the odd few Anglers bringing thier own food and drink would not bankrupt the new owner 🤔 would it 🤔. Maybe, he could organise a few matches, or charity fish'ins, do the entry at a reasonable price, (part charity donation)and food and drinks at reduced prices for contestants, I'm sure he would not only show good will but make some profit into the bargain 😉. Got to keep the customer satisfied 😌. Cheers mate Les 👍.
Always a good watch.👏 Love the drone footage.❤ Great markings and eyes on dogfish.🦈 Nice pier, but no food or drink allowed?🥺 A nice days fishing Matt, and I like the way you are always looking at different set ups.🧑🎓 Thanks for taking us with you, take care and stay safe.😷🙊
Hi Matt, really enjoyed this video. Brought back memories of when I was a kid fishing Worthing pier all time, pulling out all kinds of species and just enjoying the environment. Really admire all your camera angles it not easy to do alone and it really gives that professional touch🤘
@@SaltwaterAngler thank you! Sorry another question I’m still quite new to sea fishing , will a 20lb grand jbraid x8 with a asso leader be able to handle a 5oz impact lead? The braid I seen before seems very very thin
That's a great session from the pier. Nice mixed bag, having fished the pier multiple times I know just how tough a venue it can be! Really enjoyed that matt. P.s a cheeky shout out on your next video would be greatly appreciated 😉 😜. All the best matt
Lost fish looked like a possible dog bite😮 and a flash of lightning at 10:29..😮 yeesh..I wouldn't be anywhere on the coast with a carbon rod if lightning was within 20 miles. Too risky
Hi matt Im in hastings from friday I will be bringing my lure gear and will fish early morning low tides up can you tell me any good mark's to fish i know rock a nor are there others i can try Gary
Hey, Matt Is there a charge for fishing on the pier? I know there was previously before the new lease holder. Nice to see it finally open again. Great video again, thanks 👍
Yes, very much so. Utilise weighted soft plastics, try moving to different spots. Casting out and just dropping a weightless SP as close as you dare ! Just remember where fish ambush points are - good question Steve
Awesome again Matt the old Hastings pier had plenty of shelter, i caught many good fish from the pier in my teens the cost to fish was 1/6 pence closing time was 22-00 ,if tide was right i would fish what was called the banjo after pier was closed, i caught many good sized Dover sole useing rag fishing as close as possible to the pylons ,u could fish in all weather snow rain wind i remember fishing when it started to snow it got so heavy u couldn't c the the promenade but the fishing was awesome, Happy days .Happy catching from AUSTRALIA Nick
@@SaltwaterAngler awesome Matt always look out 4 u , funny the only fish i never caught was a dog fish plenty of other fish. Happy catching from AUSTRALIA Nick
Great video. Looks a great venue for the less able or family angler. Shame about the charges + no food or drink. I often reward myself with a coffee and bacon butty after an early start, and my protein snack and coffee's run out...
Great vid Matt. Busy down there !😲 Your ‘production’ is great. Different angles, aerial etc. nice collection of species and all without a coat 😄😁 Thanks. Keep ‘em coming. Bass will be here by the end of the month 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
Hi matt great video i live on isle of wight and always wondered what hastings pier fished like you get far more from your pier than ours i mainly do beach fishing and haven't caught a flounder or any flat fish for years would like to see more fishing videos from other areas of hastings
Nice one Matt. Great effort and brave boy not wearing a coat out on the pier in April. At least there were a fair few fish being caught which is always a bonus for this time of the year.
Hello Mate, Good to see your comment as always, Yep thats my super power Not feeling the cold. Fishings picking up just want to see a few Bass before the Lure fishing starts
Its that Perfect blend of cost v performance done a review on instagram and my Amazon influencer channel here; www.amazon.com/shop/saltwaterangler?ref=ac_inf_hm_vp
If people think, putting back fish is good thing! Fact= the fish is going to die of infection within few hours or days. The hook had severely damaged its mouth.
Thanks for commenting but I don’t really think you know do you. Species dependent and many examples of re-caught fish surviving injuries. This extends to missing gill covers and fins missing. The once record Bass had a treble hook in its stomach. I’m not sure if your a bot or an activist but not sure this is the right channel for you. Take a look at the positivity in the other comments. Happy to talk further if you have evidence of infection deaths in saltwater
