Flight and interview with Art Nalls in 2016.
The Sea Harrier, known as the “SHAR.” It is a single-engine, single-seat Vertical, Short, Takeoff and Landing (VSTOL) fighter, designed specifically for service with the British Royal Navy and operations aboard ship.
The aircraft owned by NALLS AVIATION, Serial Number XZ-439 and registered in the United States as N94422, is the world’s first and only privately-owned and flown Harrier of any kind. It is extremely rare. Of the more than 45 different Harrier variants, there were only 76 Sea Harriers built. This one is the oldest surviving SHAR and the second one to roll off the assembly line.

As a Brit its just great that you can keep this plane airworthy and doing what its best for...flying. I remember seeing a pair of earlier RAF Hawker Harriers hovering then 'bowing' to Royalty as the end piece of their performance, during an air show in the UK. I hope you have many more flights sir!

As a Brit I’d like to thank Art and all those involved on keeping this iconic aircraft serviceable.. I’m currently reading Hostile Skies by David Morgan and his part During the battle for Falkland islands flying his Share. This has really has brought the book to life. Keep up the excellent work. 🇬🇧 🇺🇸 The book is an absolute belting read…👌🏻

Thank you so much - so great to see an example of this iconic aircraft still flying rather than rotting away as a gate guardian. V/STOL, speed and manoeuvrability plus the original Blue Vixen radar with both range and a much reduced Doppler notch - all this and AMRAAM missiles often meant pilots got an early RTB and smoked kipper breakfast. Your Atlantic cousins don't understand why we binned them so early (RN in '06, Crab Air GR9s four years later) but the original started a trend and those F-35B sure are fun to have!

I grew up near RNAS Yeovilton and I thought we had hundreds of these aircraft but they were just doing circuit and bumps. I miss the distinctive noise they made.

One of the best aircraft to have been produced. I want one, but don't have the funds!

I remember going to the airshow at RAF Waddington as a kid. I was only interested in seeing the Harriers. Must be the most iconic plane since the Spitfire. The Spit has the battle of Britain The Harrier has the Falklands War Nothing else really has that status as an iconic, decisive plane. All other examples did something that could have just as easily been done by something else or not done at all and it wouldn't have been the end of a war. (I know the p51 is iconic in the USA, but its not everywhere else, the p51 missed out on all the real fighter plane excitement which was over by 1941)

These sea harriers - in the right hands (highly trained FAA pilots) became notorious for winning against NATO's best planes in A2A contests. IIRC - 3-1 against F15 14-1 against 14 Small, great radar, BVRW, and more than 1:1 engine power.. Thats after the falklands were the earlier version made its own legend..

The Harrier is NOT UNIQUE as regards having an engine in which the compressor shaft rotates in one direction and the turbine shaft rotates in the other direction.

It`s not a very complicated airplane to fly ??? I`ve been flying it for almost a year (Gr7 FSX-Razbam-DCS) and I always get the feeling it`s my fist time, every time I "enter" the cockpit . And we all know that the best simulator doesn`t even gets as real as the real thing, even if u talk the best simulator available (except of course those used by air force or airlines).
