Sea Lions Hunting Tuna in the Galapagos Islands 

While in the Galápagos in 2018, off the island of Isabella, we got to watch a truly incredible part of nature unfold right before our eyes. Basically, the Sea Lions in the area have learned to carve off a few tuna in the open ocean and herd them into this cove where they try to beach them. The tuna is well over the size of what was considered to be possible for a Sea Lion to catch, but they do. One big male is helped by a few females as they “trap” them into this cove. It was amazing to see this happen right in front of us. We experienced this while sailing on the Samba with Oscar Juan Manuel Salcedo Izurieta.
