Sea of Thieves: Fort of Fortune World Event Guide 

Watching you use the Ashen Winds skull brings me back to when I had to painstakingly burn 10 skeleton ships for a stupid title...

Oh god the tuck-lords are migrating from the FOTD to this event.

Literally JUST cleared a FoF and MAN let me tell ya about it. So me and two lads on a brigantine, sailing around about to do an Athena Run. Skeleton Fleet spawns on us, alright, we make quick work and boy was it stacked. As we go back to sail to our next island, the horn blares, and I happened to be the lucky pirate to be looking in the direction of it spawning. Boy was that a feeling I'll never forget. The giant skull loomed quite close as well, the closest fort. (I can't remember which it was, apologies) We sail there, not quite sure what to expect as we'd been playing for maybe half an hour and the event only came out today so we knew of it, just not about it. We pull up and start wiping out the first couple waves. Then a skeleton tower fires off into the distance. "That's weird" and I climbed up into the tower to get a look. I see the tip of a sloop peeking out from behind the rocks, and I know somebody's there. I'm very passive in this game, but besides that - the fort was just hard. SO I launch myself over to their ship (those two were legends as well, all 5 of us were) and we ally for the fort. Waves go by faster, but it's still a hastle. Another sloop rolls by but it just stops at the nearby sunken ship and leaves. No skin off my nose. We get to the Helmsman and that's when it gets tricky. We're all slicing at him and occasionally each other, he gets stuck in a wall for easy pickings and eventually we manage to un-stick his stronghold skull too. Now the Dutchess and the Two-Faced Scoundrel. Even harder, both of them constantly turn our allied crews into glue. But we persevere. Now onto the ashen lord, we had no idea what the final wave was, but we all kinda breathed a sigh of relief when we found out it was Captain Grimm. And that's when the nightmare began. Aside from him turning everybody into puddles of broken bones and flesh - the big man gets stuck IN the ground after a leap against one of the walkways. So we're thinking and thinking. We turn to Ashen Winds Skulls, Fire Bombs, Blunder Bombs, and finally a couple chests of rage that took AGES to get his hp down. Somehow, near his death, he gets UN-STUCK and clears our alliance from the Sea of Thieves one last time before my captain finishes Grimm with a blunderbuss. We sit and dance and take screenshots with our haul and our allies only wanted the Kegs of Ancient Black Powder and the Athena Eggs. So we're hauling our loot to our ship and just as we get the last skull aboard, a ship appears on the horizon. On our way to Ancient Spire, we were hunted by a reaper sloop, sunk them, inky kraken sloop, sunk them, the reapers came BACK as we sunk the inky kraken sloop, killed us 3, took our Chest of Legends and disappeared. We made sure our allies didn't lose anything. OUR crew decided to forget Ancient Spire and retreat to Morrow's Peak because we were out of projectiles, all of them, not a single fire-able object left. We sell everything but the Chest of Legends, which wasn't a huge loss compared to the skeleton fleet and the FoF's loot. Our allies start sailing towards us, followed by the same reaper sloop from when we first started leaving the fort. As we finish selling our haul, we take off towards our allies and together we managed to scare off the reapers. We played music for a bit, congratulated each other, took a picture together, and got off the game. I feel lucky for how tame players were DURING the fort. That's my story, and probably one of my favorites about this game. Wish you all the best of luck when tackling this event, you'll need it!

My friends and I did this new fort yesterday and it was actually really fun! Although I can say nobody else on the server tried to intervene while we worked through the waves, it still took a while. We had reapers 5 and we made it out with every last bit of loot which ended up being pretty profitable. Not the fastest way to get doubloons currently but certainly the most fun. Me and my bud saw one of these and didn’t know what it was so we went to it without thought. Once there, we found a brigantine anchored at the fort so we didn’t attack right away, for fear of losing the fight. After some strategic planning we went back to the fort, attacked the brigantine, and went on to realize that it was only one person who’s poor soul was trying to do the fort himself. Once we realized what the event actually was, we felt really bad for the guy cause we had pieced together that the guy’s crew left him stranded mid-fight

More Captain Grimm? I think a YES! We can split loot but you keep all the skulls.

Trade Routes are literally worth 10x more than FoF, and can make nearly a million gold an hour.

I just got back into sea of thieves and I joined an open crew on a sloop and this guy was telling me about the event and how badly he wanted to do one, and then after he described the skull to me that appears in the sky I kid you not ONE SHOWS UP RIGHT AS HE FINISHES TALKING ABOUT IT, and we immediately went for it with no preparation whatsoever because he was so excited, started the fort, ran from a galleon, found a random brigantine, agreed to alliance, sank the galleon not once , not twice, BUT THREE TIMES, and then finally the galleon quit bothering us and then we completed the fort and ran and sold. It was glorious.

There's not a single way in hell that this is worth it, by the time it takes you to finish it and actually manage to sell any of it you could have made the same amount of money doing other far easier things

Can the Fort of Fortune spawn at Molten Sands Fortress? And if yes, is there Ashen loot in the vault? It would be crazy if there was an ashen chest of legends in it.

Cleared 2 uncontested FoF, saved all treasure, reapers 5 for both sells. I will give them a few more tries, but both sells have given me slightly less than my average fotd sell at reapers 5. I may have gotten bad rolls / rng of course for sells and digs, but even so, if the loot was tripled, not just doubled, it might then be worth it to sail to it and leave fotd farming ( for me personally ), but currently and especially for something that is not consistently repeatable like fotd, the treasure is not even half worth it for me lol. It also seems lazy to me that they just reused the same content and put it together to form this amalgamation. It is fun, but the change from consistent small, medium, and large content updates to this garbage season crap is very disappointing. This has led to nearly no content at all.

Me and my friends play SoT rarely and when we do it's often quite casual. But last time we tried this event without really knowing what it was. But man the never ending skeleton waves, all the other players attacking, all the explosives that put Michael Bay movies to shame... We were on our toes until we sold last of the loot. As tiring as it was, I've never had this much fun in a long time. So don't be afraid of The Fort of Fortune if you think you're not good enough, whatever happens, happens. Definately recommend everyone to try your luck out. Edited a misspelled word.

My friend and I just duo'd this, all I can say is thank God you can launch yourself around that map with the cannons to easily restock holy hell.

Do you know how rare these actually are? me and my mates have seen 5 across today already. We beat 1 with 11 other pirates with a 4 ship alliance, and beat another by sinking a total of 11 ships for it, the other 3 we just saw. Me and my friend were looking for it for like 3 hours before that tho. Doesn't seem that "rare"

I was on galleon with 3 of my friends and we saw our first fort of fortune just after finishing a skele ship fleet and we went over to it. We saw a galleon with a rank 2 athena emissary and we were rank 5 order of souls. We made an alliance much to my dismay as I didn't trust them. During it however, they gained our trust and after we beat the main boss, we heard the sounds of cannonfire when we were all on the island. We then spawned in across the map, they did sell their kegs in the alliance but they proceeded to go towards sanctuary outpost. They then left the alliance, we were so sad and pissed of.

Man I got really mad last night because we spent about 3 hours doing that but by the time we got to the last boss, some reaper ship comes and fight us and all the cannonballs we had used on the bosses we ran out

I feel like this isnt as rare as said unless I'm really lucky, I played yesterday for maybe 30 minutes and saw the world event, so I got into it, it was really easy with a brig and 2 friends, but we couldn't complete it because we didn't have enough resources

I got one after completing an ashen winds event then instantly got server merged and lost it😭.

Was so close to completing this fort but the entire dang lobby showed up. It was NUTTY

i feel extremely lucky, once i did this i found an ancient skeleton WHILE BATTLING THE FORT OF FORTUNE

Really good video bro👍🏽 I stole this from two galleon alliance yesterday with my friends and we made 500k cause we were doing silent reapers way more action then FOTD and it’s so fun all the ships on server were fighting ‼️

Dude me and my crew did this last night out of curiosity and we didn’t know what it was we happened to be 1 island away from the fort and the fort took two hours to beat and we were implementing new strategies to beat it but after it’s finally done there’s some dude in a galleon sitting outside so we’re like bet they want our loot they can have it if they can beat us turns out the had a stronghold barrel in their crows nest but managed to keep the ship from sinking while it was on fire for 15 minutes!! Whilst swapping captains I had to turn the ship from hitting a rock but us being in a brig it was kinda difficult that and I was also not on the boat so like why choose me but in the end after fight the fof for 2 hours we lost against a few couple cucklords

When I did this fort I was really suprised to see that even normal skellys had been put into hardmode there was a wave with almost only pistol skellys that was really tough they dont miss and can shoot me on the other side of the island And taking out 2 skeleton lords in the same wave isnt as easy as I thought it would be glad to see a real tough pve challenge that attracts a lot of pvp action :)

Looks amazing but more tailored for a galleon or two which is dissapointing for a sloop! Great game tho! For me the lost shipment voyages were more fun...just sooo easy and the treaure was great, and you didnt light up on the map!!

Honestly, really loving this new update. I think you guys nailed it. I would really like to see the OG forts buffed, at least the loot you get from them. They are currently the least rewarding world event by far. Also #PartnerMixelplx already, he's Sea of Thieves top streamer, how is he not partnered?

last 2 times doing forts got killed by hackers from 3 islands away and was sunk by a skeleton in a tower when i had the kegs in my crows nest to go to a outpost 1 island away to sell them

I know I am extremely late but i will tell you my FOF 3rd time experience! So me and my fellow pirate friends started a brig, spawning at plunder outpost. I was already PL at the time but I was just getting the last few order of souls levels for my friends, who only needed 5 more at the max. We raised order of souls emissary, and as we were about to sail off to do our skeleton captain voyage that we had previously bought, we heard the big horn in the sky. We voted to cancel the voyage and went straight to the FOF, but as we moved closer we spotted a brigantine at the Fort. We decided to attempt to sink the brigantine, as we would have the same firepower for an equal fight. They were distracted by the 8th round of skeletons, so we anchored at the back of their ship, at an angle where both of the cannons could hit the back of it. We probably put 20 or so cannonballs into it, but continued to put even more in even though they already had sunk haha. We continued the FOF, convinced that it was ours as we were on the later rounds of the fort, almost spawning the first skeleton lord. As round 15 out of 18 started, we spotted a sloop sailing towards us. We saved ourselves some kegs just in case we needed to use them on their ship. They had wind, so they approached faster than we thought they were. Before we knew it, the sloop was right in front of one of the forts towers. We sunk them not once, not twice, not three, not four but five times. Legged their boat twice and absolutely dominated their ship with cannons. They decided to give up on attacking (finally) after the fifth time. We continued, killed the ashen lord after a while, and guess what spawned on us? A kraken. And guess what spawned at the same time? A megaladon. Yes, two at the same time! We managed to kill the kraken, but we were low on supplies as we didn’t bother when rushing to the FOF. The meg was so close to sinking us to the point that even bucketing wasn’t changing the high water level! We continued kill the meg with our snipers, and it died eventually. We did not have wood, and as previously mentioned the water level wouldn’t change. So we had to sail all the way back to the outpost while one of the crew members continued to spam bucket. When we reached the outdoors, we had a bit extra loot from the kraken and meg. We didn’t expect this, but those extra villainous bounty skulls came in clutch to get BOTH my crew mates PL! Great profit at the end. Sorry to Bore you guys lol. PS, Me and the same friends went on w FOF streak for 4 days in a row! Extra PS, I am currently making the most of double rep and gold weekend, trying to get Athena 20 by doing emissary quests and runs of thieves haven, and I am very happy with myself as I have gained 6 levels in a few days! Gold and glory coming in the clutch! ❤️❤️

I honestly can't believe this game still has a following considering how much content they've recycled over and over, they're not even creative with the name of each update either. Play this shit just to unlock new variants of the same goddamn cosmetics as well, or even worse, pay with actual money? This game is a scam.

Did this yesterday with a pl alliance i was a solo sloop they were a 3 man brig, nicest pirates ever they let me have the athena kegs and ashen winds skull they just wanted to complete it, in the end we ended up galleoning up then we did a bunch of events and stuff!

My teammates I play with are way to new to the game to even think about doing this, plus I’ve alway hated the fact people can just interrupt you midway

So it’s just harder, how creative

To people who wait until crews get to the final wave almost defeating the Ashen Lord just to sink their ship and finish it off and take all the loot, I hope both sides of your pillow is warm.

I did this event 3 times yesterday with no one coming to contest we did it once on a brig twice on a sloop pretty fun even if no one came to fight for it😞

Me and my 3 friends joined a server and saw a fort of fortune. So we head that way and get into combat they soon put up an alliance flag so we join then more people join soon enough we had the whole server in our alliance all 16! One of my friends joined their X-box party and talked to them while me and my other friend stayed on our ship and planned our attack. Ok nice they finished the fort and everyone still on their boat left their boat we took out the two galleons with 2 kegs and 2 wraith balls before they noticed we put 2 holes into the other brig and sloop they all sunk and the three of us took off with all of the loot. It was great

Solo'd it yesterday and it was a decent enough experience, not sure it quite replicates the feeling of the old skeleton forts at launch but it's atleast its a new event for us PvPers to focus on after a fairly long time without anything new. Just interested to see whether the hype will over it will continue for a sustained period or not, I worry it'll become stale like most world events and people simply won't care for it which has happened to FOTD. Overall feel its a good addition but a little underwhelming seen as it's essentially just recycled content thrown together with nothing we haven't seen before.

Was playing with a friend doing some souls emissary to get the new rewards. Midst while playing a FoF spawend and we ignored it, as we were only a duo sloop and that's just too much of a risk. When we then finished our souls quests and emissary mission we decided to check out the FoF and saw a brig was doing it. We kept our souls emissary flag as we were still missing some points for the ledger. As soon as the Brig heard the towers shooting at us, they drove away in an attempt to ward us off. We had a pretty good fight and we never really intended to do the whole fort, as we only wanted the skulls. I told this to one guy on the brig when we were both dead. However he silently ignored me. When our attack continued they started to cry out:"TAKE the skulls, TAKE the skulls". Unfortunately they were too late and way too close to sinking that we could risk leaving them alive. They sunk. We then proceeded to check all the skulls and realized, they were almost done, as only the duchess was left. We killed the duchess real quick and took her skull as well before we left, as we thought they would come back to finish the fort. We sold everything close by and realized that no one was at the fort. We gave up our souls emissary, changed to the Athena emissary and went straight back to the FoF. We proceeded without worries, as the horizon was clear and entered the third phase of the Ashen Lord when abruptly a galleon appeared in front of us. We managed to take the sails in hand to take the battle onto the seas. We were lucky that we had quite a lot of meat and also 5 cooked pieces of megalodon for each of us. I dare not say that we would have survived without that much food. They were quite coordinated and definitely not your average random crew. We had no chance to sink them and were close to sinking ourselves multiple times. Our cannonballs were also close to gone. Boarding them was never a real option as they always saw us and 3 people greeted one at their ladder. While we were fighting another sloop was casually doing a ghost fleet event in close proximity. And it appears that after finishing the event it sailed straight into our battle and attacked the galleon. We were quite glad to have a helping hand and suggested a mutual friendship. However at some point it attacked us and we knew this sloop is chaotic evil. We drove away a little and realized that the galleon is having a hard time against the other sloop and used that chance to pull a sneaky one. We went back to the FoF and killed the Ashen Lord. We proceeded fast and only grab the Athenas stuff as that was our main goal. We were close to grabbing all the Athenas stuff when the galleon realized what we were doing. We quickly pulled up everything on the ship and went against the wind to the nearest outpost. My friend stayed behind on the FoF to attempt to sink them with a fort keg. Unfortunately someone shot themselves over and shot my friend into smitherens. I continuesly checked whether they were following us while still hoping that they would stop to grab what we left behind. It was then that they abruptly dropped their anchor and made a turn. They decided to not follow us! We were glad and managed to sell everything we got. We managed to get all the Athenas stuff and were now an level 4 Athenas emissary and quite glad. The whole stuff gave us around a quarter of a level up and my friend managed to get to level 16, I'm missing like 1% to also reach level 16. Nevertheless it was quite a journey and we had two beautiful battles after an relaxing evening killing skeletons before logging out.

I swear they made these events more common recently cuz i see them about as often as every other world event

Me and my bud did this like an hour ago…got all the loot on the sloop and not knowing the ashen skull is basically a flamethrower we blew up the ship by lighting the legendary keg and lost all the loot😂💀

how often this fort spawn? i though like 3 hours at first but after few more days of playing i guess its more..or random..i didnt fing any official info on that.

Hello, I did a Fort of Fortune for the first time early this morning. After about 45 minutes - I beat all the waves and the Ashen Lord and picked up the circular Fort Key (?) I couldn't find where it went (I was inside of the fort). Then I noticed someone shooting my ship. They sunk me and got everything. I was kind of mad - to be honest. I know we are all pirates and that is what it is about. I did however respawn and found them only to be killed again. I managed to take one of them out, and he said "well played" - that was kind of cool, as I felt they seemed to be pretty good. All in all it was fun. I just wanted the loot.

Was in an alliance of 3 ships (including me) and we were taking down the last wave and me and one of the other ships were sloops and the last was a brig and the brig just sunk both ships the moment we were done fighting all the waves and took all the loot🤬

i dont think its really worth all the time & effort, as well as the risk of getting killed by other ships its also even less worth it when you start using the ashen wind skulls & special kegs instead of selling them

I was sailing away from the fort of fortune and got krakened, then skelly gallyed and then a meg, fuck, my, life

I play on Xbox so I can't wait to spend half an hour doing this to get sunk by a PC player sloop

Me and my usual crew have yet to compete against contesting players, as soon as the skull disappears the whole damn lobby shows up. 😂 One day, though. My PvP is improving!

Me and my friends just finished this event and then lightning struck our ship and the we ended up all dying from gunpowder barrels. We lost almost all the loot😭

How many forts do we need to complete to get the Grade 5 commendation in OOS? 10? 25?

Whilst it is fun, and does give great loot, just disappointed that it's reusing bosses instead of creating a new one. Imagine fighting another Skeleton Lord that we haven't heard of before, or even Flamehearts right hand man or something.

Me and two other guys who were new to the game completed the fort of fortune without any food... it wasn't really spawning much on the island either. I was pirate legend but didn't know about the fort so this video was very helpful. We were confused why the skelly fort was taking so long.

yesterday i did my first FOF. it was also my brothers first day playing the game. we got him about 350k. wish i had that kind of luck when i first started playing lmao

I just did one with friend of mine. WHOLE SERVER sailed towards us. We were fightin' for 1 hour and 39 minutes. Then we got sunk and then we sunk them. We grabbed all that loot and sailed towards closest outpost to sell that juicy loot. We sold every Athena item. Then Galleon came and sunk us. At least we sold the most important stuff. Finally me and my friend got lvl 10 in Athena faction. Then we sailed towards the galleon that sunk us. We tried the new barrel emote (Because we got 15 levels just by killing skellies in the fort) by tucking on their ship. They had kegs in their crows nest so we grabbed them and blowed them up. We had so much fun. Evan that galleon had fun because they were good sports. I love this season so far. Aye they didn't add much but still....ya can always make new memories from that thing you already did millions of times. Cheers everyone and see ya scurvy dogs on the seas. And please don't be salty. It's only a game afterall aye. :)

My crazy experience with this new event expect to fight the whole server at one place when i played i was just area but way better

Cleared this my first week playing, did not know what any of the loot was, dropped the main big center chest that I can only assume was an athena, on an ally's ship, turned some other stuff (gunpowder etc) into the mysterious stranger. Now i'm wondering if it's worth turning any of it into the mysterious stranger before becoming a pirate lord. I've been a part of completing this event twice, my son really enjoys setting things on fire with the skull, I enjoy fending off players while working with an alliance, but I'm thinking we should focus on becoming pirate legends before doing the fort a third time.

Me and my friend took a long break from the game, when we loaded up the game for the first time in a while the fort of fortune spawned and we had no clue what it was. We just thought that it was a ashen fort at first 😂

Wish y'all would actually provide audio of its intro horn though. Also why do you call that volcanic eruption attack the 'World's End' ability? It has an official name - the Roar of the Devil.

Yesterday we ended up having all 5 ships in an alliance and at the fort. 3 sloops, a galleon, and a brig. At the end someone hopped on the galleon and started shooting the brig, who ended up killing the galleon and one of the sloops. All while this is happening, my crewmate and I were just in the vault taking all the loot for ourselves. Pretty successful.

A loud horn blast? Hmmmmmm, where have we heard that before?

I did it with 2 friends who had their first day and it was really easy they just got the game 1 hour and did the raid with me. 🔥👌🏼
