It's still hard to take a round bat & hit a round ball at 90 to 100 mph. Coming at different angles. This was the best era in baseball. All superstars looked like their own cartoon superheroes. Glad I grew up watching this era.

Juan Gonzalez is an absolute beast. Only guy besides Hank Greenberg to have 100 RBI at the All Star Break in MLB history
@Sherpaful
@Sherpaful 10 лет назад
one year latter Manny Ramirez had 165 RBI, which is more than any player in the last 75 years.....

His point was that Ramirez kept up a better pace. 100 rbis by all star isn't as impressive as finishing with 165

Afrobe Bryant both dudes had absurd talent around them in their lineups, and hitter's parks to boot. The best offensive player of that era with no steroid cloud over them would be vlad guerrero.

I remember this monstrous tear he was on, one of the best individual performances I've seen. I'm surprised he didn't reach 200 rbis though from the way he was killing pitchers in the first half of the season.

Juan does look smaller here, its a shame he doesn't come back to the Rangers. I think his heart was broken when that waste of an Owner and GM decided to trade him away the first time. He was loved as much if not more than Pudge. Thats why chris davis wears number 19.

You're outta your mind. 96- Gonzalez .314./47hr/144 rbis A-rod .358/36/123rbis 98- Gonzalez .318/45/157 rbis A-rod .310/42/124 rbis. Not to mention Gonzo had almost 60-80 less ab in each of those seasons. And Rodriguez is an admitted Juicer. While Gonzalez was speculation. "thanks to his teammates"??? Yeah every player should thank any teammate for an RBI, how the hell else do you get them? Those MVPS were well deserved, not to mention the ass ramming Gonzalez gave the Yankees in the Post Season. He should be in the HOF.

You can't exclude players for the hall of fame if they were never tested positive for steroids. Hell mlb condoned the usage so if they have the numbers put them in the hall

@walterlv01
@walterlv01 6 лет назад
Randy's relationship with the Mariners had soured by this time - everyone knew he would be traded and many people thought he was phoning it in the first half of the 1998 season. So I guess they just figured what the heck, let him get shelled out there since he will be leaving soon anyway.

Randy Johnson would have never made it into the seventh in today’s game.

In today's game Randy Johnson would have ended with 400 strikeouts in the season. Todays players not only have the lowest batting averages, they also have the lowest OBP, OPS, RBIs, Runs, SB and defensive WAR in MLB history.

No one gives a shit .... randy Johnson and Griffey were on roids if that’s the case. All the meds contained roids back then, and there was no banned of anything at this point of the league. So stop the bullshit. Randy Johnson has so much acne, he was on some protein shit as well. As 75% of MLb players imo. Can’t prosecute them for certain roids if there wasn’t any laws put in place . Roids were used for players to heal and it was hard to know what substance it was being used with. It varied. So let it go. There is no evidence
