Edgar Martinez, Ken Griffey Jr., Alex Rodriguez, and Randy Johnson were all on the same team. And Dave Niehaus announced every game. That’s a remarkable amount of talent.

Don’t forget jay buhner who was a great outfielder and would always get ya 35-40 homers and 100 rbi’s. Our lineup in the mid 90s was crazy ..if we had only had more pitching aside from randy ..

One of the greatest right-handed hitters of all time finally gets enshrined. The only thing keeping his numbers from looking even better is the fact that he didn't receive regular playing time until his late 20s. I say this as someone who despises the DH.

I knew Edgar was a great hitter but what amazed was finding out he was the first right handed hitter since Joe DiMaggio to win two batting tittles!

On my Humble Opinion Edgar Martinez had the most beautyfull swing to see from the stance to the mechanics to the extension of the arms to the end result and it looked so effortless all of that at the same time ¡¡!!

When the award for your position is named after you, you damn well better be in the Hall of Fame! Edgar wasn't just a good hitter, he was one of the best right-handed hitters ever! When your total body of work can be compared to names like Babe Ruth and Ted Williams, and other similar legends, there can be no doubt. And Edgar vs the three pitchers he was enshrined with: Vs Halladay: .444/.474/722 with 1 homer in 19 PA. Vs Mussina: .307/.337/.627 with 5 homers in 83 PA. Vs Rivera: .579/.652/.1.053 with 2 homers in 19 PA.

Yeah, his defensive play gets overlooked for obvious reasons, but if injuries hadn't taken him off the field so early in his career, he would've been a first ballot HOFer.

Mariners had a murderers row of Thier own, as well As a Prime jay Buhner..So babe Ruth seemed to mostly hit with his upper body, whereas Martinez used his lower body more.

I want to say the clip at 1:52 was against the yankees, after i think the bottom of the 7th my dad said lets get out of here and beat traffic & i remember hearing edgar Martinez hitting a grand slam not even 10 minutes after we left on the radio in the truck.. i was so disappointed we left 😂

😂 the most normalist coolest looking person on the field and was thy most dangerous. Bruh I remember waiting for a game to hurry up and end and hereeeee goes Edgar completely destroying the opposing teams lead single handed by himself in one measly at bat 😂 pahahaha!!!! Martinez didn't become a full-time DH until the '95 season. Prior to that he played 556 games at third base for the M's. He was moved to DH because of an injury that never healed properly. His bat was too good to not play so the M's made him the DH. He then went on redefine the DH position. So much so that former commissioner Bug Selig renamed the Outstanding Designated Hitter Award after him in 2004.
