Sorry about the matrix glitch for a few minutes. I’ve about had it with this M1 chip.

Your comment about the difficulty getting gear back into stuff sacks when it's super cold out was spot on. I was out in early January in 4 inches of snow and 15 degree temperatures. Although I was able to get all my gear into my EMR II pack at home, when it was time to pack out of the woods,I couldn't get all the gear stuffed small enough to fit into my pack at once, so I ended up making two trips out of the woods before I was able to get everything back to my vehicle

When I’m cold and tired at the end of a trip the last thing I want to do is fight a stuff sack.

Stuff sacks provided with gear are ONLY intended to keep the gear tidy on a shelf. The first thing I do when I buy new gear is to put it in a larger stuff sack. I tried using compression sacks in the 80’s and then you end up carrying a bunch of rugby balls in your rucksack. If you use a larger stuff sack you can just push the stuff deeper into your rucksack and maximise the use of space.

@@bob_the_bomb4508 I use Kifaru stuff sacks, not the junk that comes with the gear. Regardless, when it's 10 degrees outside and the wind is blowing 20 mph, it's not difficult to get the gear into the stuff sacks, but cinching the sacks down small enough to fit in your pack is difficult

I use a negative 20 Kifaru slickbag with an Exped sleeping pad with a 6.2 R value. I still want a Superior Gear hammock for winter hammock camping but I don't have the money at the moment

I thought goose down is the premium and the duck down was the cheaper stuff....
@livingsurvival
@livingsurvival 2 года назад
Yep you’re right. I got confused since my other sea to summit bags are goose down.

@@livingsurvival heck I coulda just as easily been wrong...lol...just my turn lol...so is this bag duck or goose?
@livingsurvival
@livingsurvival 2 года назад
@@randyyeager this bag is duck. The other two are goose. I guess it really doesn’t make much difference.

@@livingsurvival yeah, they say goose down is finer than duck down but I don't think theirs much difference.

$470 USD for the sleeping bag...that's insane...
@livingsurvival
@livingsurvival 2 года назад
My spark bag is $489 and Kristen’s is $589. Lightweight down bags with high fill power low temp rating are expensive.

@@livingsurvival I paid just over $100 for my bag. It's a -32 C (-25 F). I paid another $20 for the liner. It's heavy at 9 1/2 lbs but it's an XL bag. The bag on ebay now is about double, which is crazy ($241). It's not down, but it is warm...

@@livingsurvival Heck when I bought this my $100 sleeping bag, I thought I was shelling out the big bucks. But I did by it in spring so I mighta got it on sale.
