Great review. I own the Spark 28 (2021 model) here are some thoughts: • It truly is hyper light. Amazing how light it is, just as you pointed out. • This is a legit super down, with an independent rating on mine over 870. For goose down, treated, nothing is better. • Despite having super thin nylon, it doesn't seem cheap. Just take care of it. • That quality storage sack you show is great, and compression sack that squishes down smaller than you show. • It's not bad for side sleeping at all. I mostly sleep on my side and found it good. Too many UL bags are narrow. It's not as warm as implied. Buyers need to look closely at the graph you show at 5:53. Most bags have this issue thought. The REI Magma 30 for example is maybe a 35 or 40 degree bag too. Buy a good liner, buy a warm sleeping pad (R value of 4 or better maybe), plan accordingly. It's nice that S2S offers such a range. When in doubt, just buy the next warmer bag. You'll still be very impressed how light it is and how small it can compress. The zipper isn't great. Be careful with it. If you find it snagging at all, buy and use a zipper lubricant. When I went for a true winter (0 degree) bag, I decided to go away from S2S and bought a Therm-a-Rest Parsec. My second choice was a Mountain Hardwear Phantom. I'll argue there are other bags with a better value to cost ratio, but not by a huge amount. I'll let anyone do their own research on that.

I have the micro 2 in the long version 1 lb. 6oz. With the draw string foot box! I love it for 3 season use! 36 degree but with my 4 season pad and inside my tent i can get down just below freezing and be comfortable. Their 850+ goose down has loft for days! Micro 2 & 3 is discontinued this year i think though? But you can still find them for sale, highly recommend for anyone looking to get into UL! Kind of a quilt/sleeping bag cross! Hope the spark 2 lasts you a while! Hike on!

Hey, what temperature have you used them in? I am looking for a bag for alpine adventures during the summer, where it could be around 0 degrees over night and Iam trying to decide between spark 2 and 3. Thanks a lot!!!

@@NK__NK__NK Mind you I very little body fat 🤦 so I get cold easily. I sleep with merino wool 250 long pants and long shirt base layers. At 25°F I was comfortable. I have not used the bag below that. I hope this helps

I have older version of sea to summit MC3 375g/850+.Lower temperature rating -4C/28F.This bag is using 20D nylon and the new ones have 7-10D material,definitely thinner,so I’m little bit worried about durability with the newer ones.Peace.

Nice! I'm glad I had the 35 the other night in Dolly Sods, WV for sure! Sea to Summit makes some amazing gear.

I own the one with the 7 and 10 and haven't found it cheap, or feel like I had to really baby it. Just be a little careful with it and you shouldn't have a problem at all.

Did you ever look into a down quilt from a cottage vendor? I don't think I would ever go back to a sleeping bag.

I certainly was looking at some down quilts as well and I certainly was ready to pull the trigger. But I was a little reluctant to get one since they don't have a hood, and I need to have to protection with the range of seasons that I backpack. Plus I was able to get a great deal through work haha.

Was looking at getting one. Did you finally teat it out? How was it?

Yeah I was able to take it out for 3 different trips in temperatures ranging from 40* F - 65* F. Performed great. Those warmer nights I just draped the bag over me, but it was nice to tuck myself in when the temps dropped.

Hi! Is it good to sleep in summer? I’m thinking between this and the SPI, which range of temperature do you think is more versatile? I think is not too good to have this kind of zip.... was confortable just to drop the bag on top on of you??

Have you weighed it?
@BobsOutdoorLife
@BobsOutdoorLife 6 лет назад
It's listed at 16.4 ounces, but when I use my stuff sack it comes in at 16.6 ounces. Really nice and light.

Do you think that it would work well for a side sleeper? Would you say it is roomy or more constricted?

I own the Spark 28, and mostly sleep on my side and have no problems with it.

I prefer to carry 7 oz extra and get durability

Yeah for sure! That's what I love about backpacking; there is no perfect gear system that works for everyone. The perfect system is what works well for you!

How do you find the Mc III? I am trying to decide between this Spark sp II ad the Mc III. Same ratings, one lighter and thinner material, the other more robust and converts to a quilt? I like the idea of losing 200+ g on the Spark.

Martin Janes They are both very warm but alpine 3 is more bulkier than mc 3.
