Speechless...was left weeping. Andrew Scott should be declared a National Treasure of Ireland. Brilliant. And I just watched him yesterday in a scene from "Angels in America", which was included in the National Theatre Live 50th Anniversary broadcast. I wept then, too.
The first time I saw this I didn't realize he was acting until about half way through. This man's acting is so fantastic it almost makes me uncomfortable.
This is one of the purest pieces of genius I have ever seen. The writing is, quite frankly, cripplingly astonishing, and the performance by Mr Scott is no different. I feel privileged to have seen this.
His acting in this is so amazingly real that at first I didn't know he was acting. I thought this was an interview (of sorts) and he was just telling a story!
God, this man is amazing. First saw him in Sherlock (the character of Moriarty seems to come out a little in everything Scott does) and I've been hooked ever since.
This really is ACTING. That acting when you forget that the words the character is saying are not their own, when you forget that the words were written down and read and reread and learnt and relearnt-you just find yourself assuming that the character has pulled them out of the air like anyone would in normal conversation. What I wouldn't give to be able to act like this.
his accent is glorious. i never thought i'd be able to distinguish an irish accent from a scottish accent, god... andrew scott is perfection. that acting was remarkable i scarcely believe it was actually written that must just be him talking...
I bought and watched this today. I could gush about how wonderful Andrew and Stephen are to have created this, but it's already been said. The truth is I'm struggling to function after watching it. It's been fifteen minutes and I'm still in a half-daze. Extraordinary... I'm not convinced I'll be the same again.
If you haven't seen this, do it! Cried for hours, but it was worth it! Andrew Scott is an AMAZING actor, and Simon Stephens is a FABULOUS writer. Just watch this.
I want to see the whole performance so badly! Unfortunately I seem to be unable to access it where I live, but this clip is just brilliant. Andrew is such an amazingly talented actor, and the writing is fantastic.
Okay, now I feel guilty that I've muscled in on these comments three times in the last few minutes and haven't mentioned Sea Wall. So I'd just like to say that Andrew Scott is, in acting terms, a genius and Simon Stephens is, to a struggling writer, an absolute inspiration. I can't wait to see "A Doll's House" (travelling down to Londinium 'specially; there's a ticket already waiting for me at the Young Vic).
first time watching this- listening to his voice.... second time watching this- listening to his voice.... third time watching this- oh.. so this is what he was talking about.... ;P
Oh my goodness this is just amazing. Andrew is just great, such a talented man. Where can i see this film, i want to watch it so bad after seeing this!!
I'm doing something similar to this soon... if I can be a quarter as realistic and brilliant as this, I will be a very happy girl. It's just so raw and believable... half way through I forgot he was an actor all together.
Andrew is such a brilliant actor. The only problem I have is that his Moriarty in BBC Sherlock's was so terrifying and good, that I have difficulty not seeing Moriarty in this video. When he walks up to the camera, I actually shrank back a little. Haha, I'm scared! Figures, he's just that good!
This was so beautiful, but I had to watch this 3 times too understand what he was saying though.. And I love his face before the little clap at the end ^^,
How is it that the idea of Moriarty can not be killed in my mind? I kinda expected him to do his crazy criminal face and high pitch singsong voice halfway through. I need to watch more Andrew Scott stuff to remove Moriarty. Haha. Love love love his voice.. :)
I've just visited the site again (as that is where I bought it) and you're right, it isn't very helpful! Go to the site again and click on the buy film tab. Wait until the video buffers. There should be 3 arrows, the blue one says 'buy film', then you put in your email addy- I can't remember if they send you a link to your email. I can't take this option very far as I've already bought it so I'm not sure how difficult it is from there on!
To cure you of this alarming affliction, I prescribe the watching of absolutely everything you can possibly find that Scott has appeared in. Soon you'll have such a varied and diverse array of characters running around in your head (and you should see Jones from 'My Life In Film' running... soooooo cute!) that Moriarty will cease to have quite such a hold over you. By the way, there's "no charge" for this consulation but I'm gonna have to bill you for the next one ;o)
I can't wait to buy this. I actually spoiled the ending for me accientally, watching the interviews on the website, (seawallandrewscott).com, but I still really want to see it.
