Many of you have been asking for a sea water time lapse, and even though I'm living in a landlocked country, I didn't want to disappoint. I made a special trip to Lignano Sabbiadoro just to bring you this unique experience. I even brought back a bottle of sea water! So here it is, a sea water time lapse with a twist of travel adventure. Hope you enjoy watching it as much as I enjoyed making it.
🎵 Music
The Chills - Timothy Infinite
Lost out There - instrumental version by The Watershed
Fun Fact:
The ocean is 3.5% salt, and if all the salt in the ocean were spread evenly over the Earth's land surface, it would form a layer more than 150m/500 feet high. That's about as high as a 40 story building.

Love this video. The drive to the ocean, seeing the bottle filled, all of it. I felt bad for the little organisms in the water as it started to dry up - but I'm assuming the increased salinity did them in. Loved the microscope footage and the gorgeous shot inside the cup itself. Thoroughly enjoyed this! ♥
@mikewilson631

I would have liked to see what happens if it was rehydrated. Those organisms have evolved in a location where drying out and then being rehydrated is fairly common. At least some of them must have developed survival mechanisms.

Fun thing to note is the lack of our most prevalent friend on this channel, fungus. While iirc there are some varieties of fungus that do live in marine habitats, they are in no way extremely prevalent, and in general this video really goes to show the power of salinity to combat microbial life. Very neat.
@SidShakal
@SidShakal 9 месяцев назад
seriously. you can see all those little critters feeding off the plant, and the water level falling. then there comes a point where the critters just.... stop. poor little guys.
@sam21462
@sam21462 9 месяцев назад
@@SidShakal - There is more to it than the salinity. One thing that happens in a closed system like this is that bacteria explode and use up all of the oxygen in the water. I would love to see this repeated with an aquarium air stone keeping the water oxygenated. I am betting you would see a much different explosion of life.
@SidShakal
@SidShakal 9 месяцев назад
