Are you getting the jetski 12 volt low voltage alert? Take 5 minutes watch this video save hundreds of dollars and give me a thumbs up. 2008 RXT 215 model. When you test the resistance on the yellow wires on the rectifier make sure the engine is not running the resistance should be less than .8 ohms.. my reading was at .3 and .4. When you test for ac voltage from those yellow wires the engine has to be running to see approximately 20vAC and when you check where the red and black wire connect to the rectifier the engine needs to be running to see the 15 volts coming out of the rectifier. Make sure to plug in your hose to keep the engine cool while testing out of the water.

This video sent me right to the problem with both wires, did the fix and all seems great. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!😊

You know what your talking about but it would be helpful to know which tests require the engine to be running and when it should be off. Thanks for help.

THANK YOU this was EXACTLY what I needed to do to fix this on mine, I bought a new battery when it probably didn't need it, well there was no marking on battery so I assumed it was that, then since I have a 215 and a 255 both 2008 I tried swaping voltage regulators around with no luck. I came across your video went thru the trouble shooting because I did not want to pull the pto cover apart for a stator. Sure enough new wire to the same location fixed it. 👍👍👍 (I do believe that this 255 has seen sea water at one point it has corrosion on all hardware which I can see why that wire got corroded while the 215 being the same year has only seen lakes and has no corrosion on anything inside)

Thanks for this. It's basically the same procedure for 2006 and older however the fuseboxes and location are a bit different. Mine was the fuse

Thankfully, the screw holding the positive battery wire was loose. I tightened it and no more 12 v low or any other problems.

Darin Grey hopefully I will find out tomorrow -I am new to jet skis -just got ski in water today and it started right up but then only went slow-12v low came up on screen and red light- when I stared and ran it on shore it was fine - revved up and all but not today in water-upsetting- will breakout meter tomorrow and start testing - brand new battery-old battery was dead- bought new cheap one that didn’t work then bought good batt and thought I was good to go then this- I did do something bad while trying to get 1st battery working- I jump started with high output charger and probably blew something- hoping only fuse but doubt it- any quick thoughts what went ?

@daringrey 6 лет назад
TheConradiii the quickest route is just pop out the charge 30 amp fuse and test the top of the fuse clip to make sure you're getting the 15-plus volts DC and then put a voltmeter on the bottom fuse clip and you'll see you're getting 12 volts from the battery plug that fuse back in and then test the battery directly on these things it's usually the wiring but it might be the rectifier as well when I was getting 15 volts I was not revving it up at all and when the battery was attached I was getting 13.5 average when it was on idle

Darin Grey ok, is the fuse a car type 30 amp?
@daringrey

TheConradiii 30amp mini blade car fuse.... not the 30amp standard blade

i agree with Kevin. around a minute into this you're talking about AC voltage from the rectifier. the motor has to be running for the AC current to be read. If I'm wrong, I need to watch a basic video about AC generation. Please respond. Thanks

Darin, great video, i believe i have the same issue but my fuse got melted and the wire coming from the fuse plug seems to be burned out also, do you think that i could bypass it with an external fuse?

This is a widespread problem. This repair should be done even if you don't have a problem yet as it's just a matter of time. Good news for me though, just bought a cheap 08 RXT with "a fuse problem" that he couldn't figure out. Did the same repair and she's back on the water now for +$0.

So if I test the yellow wires and get no reading whatsoever does that mean my stator is shot ? And does the machine have to be running for this test ?

Darin appreciate that information if tops sensor was replaced and still getting p1502 and low voltage pop up what could the issue be ?
@daringrey
@daringrey 4 года назад
Take a voltmeter and test where the line voltage drops... If you're not getting 14 v at the battery while the jet ski is running then it could be a broken wire connection

I've got a SEADOO GTX 4-TEC I was getting 12v low I found a fuse was missing. My setup is different then yours is. But after I put the fuse in I got a check engine. I took it to a mechanic as I needed the codes cleared. Crud cost me 170.00 for that and he said 4 fuses were bad. They were good though when I checked them before taking it in to them. Anyway now I'm getting a 12v hi any idea why. I did replace the rectifier so that's new. Any help would be appreciated.

I'd get a voltmeter first and follow the wiring to see where the high voltage is coming from. If you got a knock off rectifier that could be the issue and that should be the only thing causing the high voltage. If you see the voltage coming out of the rectifier being crazy voltage above 14-15volts if I remember correctly...then it might just be a bad rectifier. If the voltage of the rectifier is correct somewhere around 14-15 volts ...then it might be a computer issue. I know there are a lot of aftermarket rectifiers out there so it could just be an issue with that and hopefully not your computer. So basically check the voltage going into the rectifier and coming out of the rectifier.

Nice guide ! Is that safe for sea doo to run it without rectifier connected to check voltage ? And since there are 3 same yellow wires, which one to check ? Thank You
@daringrey
@daringrey 4 года назад
Without the rectifier it won't charge the battery so it's okay. The outgoing should be the DC volts and the incoming three wires should be checked by checking wires 1 and 3... then 1 and 2..then 2 and 3.. review the video again I did it a long time ago and don't remember the exact voltage

I have the same bike but I’m not getting any beeps when I put the key on the ignition…. Any clue where I should start my search
@daringrey
@daringrey 2 года назад
With a voltmeter make sure you're getting more than 12 volts where the 2 30 amp fuses are. Make sure the key is properly seated but I just had this issue of no beeps probably a month ago and it was a bad wire corroded again going to the 30 amp fuses test one side and then test the other side. If you're not getting more than 12 volts then you have a bad wire connection to the battery. If you're not sure where it is let me know and I'll try to take a picture this weekend . And make sure the 30 amp fuses are not blown of course
@nemonespider
@nemonespider 2 года назад
@@daringrey I think I know the 2 30 amp fuse your talking about, mine actually burnt out and the fuse connector.. I bought 2 waterproof fuse holder and ran the wire directly to the solenoid
