I literally had the same issue, on WOT it would bog. it is due to water leak at level of carbon ring, and float ring not being tight enough on each other. My unit did this, you need to get unit out of water asap so water does not get in carbs

did you ever fix this? i think its the wear ring around impeller is worn out.

I have a 99 Sea Doo XPL. It starts right up and idles perfect. It will accelerate and rev out of the water. When I put it in the water and gas it, it goes until 3-4k RPMs and stays there and will not break that barrier. It doesn't vibrate or anything it just bogs down at 3-4k RPMS and will not accelerate. Any suggestions?

Sounds pretty typical, it's a fuel issue, have you rebuilt and cleaned the carburators? Sounds like you will need to. Also if the ski has the original grey fuel lines they must absolutely be replaced. Modern fuel with ethanol causes the interior of the lines to disintegrate and it can cause your carburators to clog up. In severe cases it can cause the engine to run in a lean condition, which can cause the engine to blow the top end.

I believe the carbs were rebuilt right before I purchased it. I think it does have the old grey fuel lines. There is also a clear fuel line that I see that runs from somewhere that I can see fuel running through however, it seems as if it is not completely filled with fuel. It looks to be trickling through that fuel line. There are black fuel lines that run from to the filter and then from the filter to the pump, but the fuel vent line I believe is what it is, is still old grey that you mentioned.

What is the second discharge port on the side of the ski? I know one is for cooling, but the other I thought might be for air intake however I blew some compressed air in there and fuel came out. I figured it was a fuel vent line or something....thoughts?

@@kylemahar4574 it sounds like the carbs are going to need to be rebuilt again, that's really the only thing that would cause such a situation and it's the easiest place to start. If those clear lines are little 1/8th inch lines they should be the oil lines and they should be full of oil, I am not aware of any clear gasoline lines but someone may have added them. The grey line is probably okay for the vent, but everything else should be new

The fuel filters inside the carburetors are probably clogged.

Cavitation is going to be the carbon seal or the jet pump the bog is going to be carburetion fuel pressure or spark plugs
@chadcoady9025
@chadcoady9025 4 года назад
Definitely not the carbon seal. That's inside the hull and would not cause cavitation.....cavitation is only caused by the jet pump.
@shannonwilliams601
@shannonwilliams601 4 года назад
@@chadcoady9025 you could not be more wrong because if the carbon seal goes out it will quit engaging the full turn of the impeller which will cause cavitation you need to go back and learn about jet skis
@chadcoady9025
@chadcoady9025 4 года назад
Shannon Williams nope.... the carbon seal is only a seal. It just keeps water out of the hull. I’ve rebuilt 3 “jet skis” in July alone. The driveshaft will still spin just fine even if the carbon seal is bad, you’ll just take on water. The carbon seal is inside the hull. Cavitation happens outside the hull in jet pump. A bad prop, jet pump bearing or wear ring is what causes cavitation, not the carbon seal. FYI, Kawasaki owns the jet ski name. Yamaha owns the Wave runner. Jet Skis don’t have carbon seals. Sea Doos do.

@@chadcoady9025 you can type in Seadoo carbon seal cavitation and read all kinds of forms including green Hulk you need to go back to the drawing board and stop building jet skis you're not that good at it

its running lean. too much air not enough fuel. that was why choke it helps.

mine is doing just about the same thing yours was doing. except mine will goto about 7k rpm until it gets traction then it will drop down to about 5700. Did you ever figure out exactly what the cause(s) was? Thanks!

It was something to do with the carbs after I rebuilt them
@jetguy1205
@jetguy1205 5 лет назад
99% of the time, issues with these 2 strokes are in the carbs
@mshaw83
@mshaw83 5 лет назад
@@jetguy1205 yea i've rebuilt both of mine. most of my issues are gone sorta.... except the running up to 7k rpm then falling back to about 5700 after it gets traction. wondering if this might be the jet pump wear ring.. honestly im not sure seems like 10 problems all around. 2 weeks ago it ran "good" last week it ran like your video again. richened up the fuel a little and it was "better" but I'm already like 2.25 turns out on the lows. which i think is way to much. checking spark plugs im thinking they look just about right. maybe the rebuild kit i got.. came with 1.5's maybe i needed 1.8's or even 2.0's?
@jetguy1205
@jetguy1205 5 лет назад
@@mshaw83 did you set the popoff pressure? Also a bad wear ring would cause it to over rev, not under. What are you referring to with the 1.5 and 2.0 etc?
@jetguy1205
@jetguy1205 5 лет назад
@@mshaw83 I would do a search for the carb setting of your Engine and set to exactly those specs. Anything like 2+ turns of of spec is and indication of an issue somewhere else in the carb
