The ST 19 movement is based on the Swiss Venus 175 from the late 1940s or thereabouts. Venus wanted to sell the 175 to fund the design of a more modern movement and, after the USSR refused it, the PRC bought the manufacturing rights and tooling for the 175 around 1959, so there we go. I've had mine for about 18 months; the movement needs roughly 40 winds for a full charge, after which the watch should run for 40-45 hours depending on how much you use the chronograph. This is a great gift choice for your son, and I hope he wears it in good health. All the best for 2023!
Perfect timing I was about to press buy now I thought I would have a look for a video and what do you know you uploaded one yesterday! (I AM pushing "buy" now by the way, so thank you......)
As I said in the video, this was a gift for my son so no plastic was peeled. Not on the crown or the Crystal. But yes, it looks much better now he has received it and removed all the coverings. Lol 👍
