That will be an easy fix, depending how many channels you have en your receiver. He said has two servos for the elevator then those can not be on a Y if you are using elevons. However there are planes with just rudder and elevator but those are not a delta wing kinda plane. You guys are awesome and inspired me to dust off my plane and go have some good time. Greetings from an Argentinian living in USA.
Good call, guys. The rudders would have induced opposite roll, I'll get back to that in a moment. The main reason why flying wings seldom have rudders, is the fact that they have no tail cone to provide lever arm. The lateral force from the rudders would attack very close to the centre of gravity and be rather inefficient for yaw. And worse, it would all attack above the centre of gravity, so right rudder would induce a left roll, and vice versa. All physics. Thank you for thinking before you fly, that's what makes your channel so satisfying to watch!
Glad you guys caught that on the ground! It's so important to ALWAYS do a preflight check at the field before flying for reasons like this. Solution should be simple. It is in Spektrum. One servo lead into aileron channel on Rx. One servo lead in elevator channel on Rx. Rudder stays plugged into rudder. Select elevons in radio programming under wing type. Then absolutely make sure deflection is correct because typically there are a couple different elevon types to choose from (A and B) and you have to pick the correct one. Sometimes you must also reverse channel(s) to get it to work right. Just play with it until it deflects correctly. Can't wait to see her fly or die!!!
Without elevon settings, this would have been a short flight. The engine most likely will roll the plane on take-off and rudder wouldn't do anything to correct that. It has no dihedral. That would be sad, it looks nice 🙃
Well that's a fine way to go! All though you could use the rudder to swing it's tayle back and forth, it will make one wing go faster than the other and get more lift, but it is tricky. I had to do it once on my plane when the aleron screw came loose, I just used the rudder to level up. I enjoy the fun you guys have. Keep up the good work.
With Multiplex you first start programming by choosing the type of model- in this case choose "Delta". Then just proceed and there should be a Delta mixer in the menue. There's unrestricted servo assignment. I have got a newer radio from Multiplex, but it should be very similar on yours.
The comments have everything, much more than I could contribute. The viewers really are well informed, especially on radio set up, it's a pleasure to be in such company, even if only on the net. This bird will be perfect PERFECT for Capt Blaz. 1; it has a nitro engine 2; it's a funky delta and 3; IT'S GREEN!! Perfect. There'll be some torque swing to the left on take off.. You'll be needing.. ELAVONS! 😁 Most enjoyable. The motor is WICKED. Big salute from London. 🌟👍
When I flew my delta winged plane years ago I had a O.S. 46 FX on it with a tuned pipe and I knew it was a good running engine. The Captain has a awful lot of weight on the nose for its C.G. and would make sure that's what it needs. I also used to run a 10x7 APC prop or 10x6 with no tuned pipe so I got a lot of RPM,S for the take off and speed. I was just as nervous as the Captain every time I took off on a grass field.
that' s real RC session! who has never done this? prepare all , and bam : no flight ! but it's a never ending learning course. congrats for this vid ! the rudders must be mixed with the front weel (and they don't need two servos if you link both empenages cause they'll go in the same direction.) and for the ailerons, you need the flaperon option in the radio.
Love you Legends 👍🏻, try castoring the front leg which will mean the aircraft will not be as twichy on the ground.15 to 20 degrees will be enough ..castor back from top of wheel... Best of luck ❤
Robert is correct.. That delta wont fly without the ailerons working.. It would only work if the wing had a lot of dihedral like a 2 channel glider, but even then I think because the wing is so small it still wouldnt work very well.. The wing would need to be probably 2 times as long for it to be stable enough with dihedral and without ailerons..
I may be wrong, but I’m sure those older planes with rudder and no aileron have massive amounts of dihedral in the wing for stability? You’ll need to make sure the ailevators are on different channels but for sure you can use your Multiplex radio 👍
It is about time for Blaž to upgrade radio to more modern, easy to change and mix. I fly planes and switched to RadioMaster Boxer ELRS. Great radio, great receivers.
I went from the ix20se (sold it for $500) to my tx16s max 2. 2 weeks of videos and picked up programming instantly. BEST tx in the world, & under $400! Spektrum is a rip off joke!
Great video despite no flight . I’ve had a ship similar to this. Flap-Aron’s are what you need to setup. Mixing the flaps/ ailerons together. Using them for Roll and elevator pitch control. Early versions of these ships used sliding servo mount holding the aileron servo. This sliding tray was controlled by the elevator servo. Hope this helps. Terry&ThePirates South Florida
There's a real aircraft that, when it was originally designed, only had two controls. The Ercoupe had ailerons and elevator and no rudders despite having a twin fin tail and the pilot used the 'yank and bank' method of flying. To turn the aircraft the pilot had to input a small amount of up elevator, the 'yank', then enter some degree of aileron, the 'bank' to turn. It worked surprisingly well and meant that any novice pilot could get the hang of it in a couple of hours of tuition. There are two well documented cases of disabled people learning to fly the Ercoupe in this form, one a young girl who was born with no arms and who used her feet to fly and the second was a lady who lost her legs in a car accident. I would suggest that Captain Blaz should convert the plane to this method by mixing the aileron/elevator feeds.
This is easy to do as it happened to me and then at the club someone helped me out,it was a combat wing with 0S25fx and elevons only for ailerons & elevator ,and throttle was such a fun plane great catch Pilot Robert and Capt.Blaz . Salute Bro's
Pilot Robert... I believe it is having "Dihedral" in the wing that will give the aircraft roll stability and have the plane want to return to level flight without ailerons - not simply having a high wing. It is probably true that a high wing plane will be more effected by a given degree of dihedral than a low or mid wing plane.
Please don't try to solve the nosewheel steering problem with expo. That tight turn on the runway showed you have way, way too much deflection at full rudder. Move the pushrod out on the wheel end, or in on the servo horn. Also if you put nosewheel and rudder on the same channel, you don't want too much expo on rudder.
I flew a Delta glow plane years ago and they fly very differently one season. They need a long take off run because of no tail elevator and can drop a wing very easily if you fly to slow. Its a total different type of plane to fly.Later
Such a good one even without a single flight! Cool.to see you both trying to figure thst out! In fact Blaz was lucky tbis time 🤞respect Pilot Robert! Nice job Capfain Blaz! Waiting for the real maiden!! Big salute!
lol never mind lads better to be safe than sorry good job working out the problem look forward to the actual maiden good seeing Blaz wearing the green shoes to match the plane
Please elevons dont scare like this , no elevons farting O my .good choice Captian Blaz get the elevon mix happening . SALUTE Brother Robert for catching this .
Must add that Mr . Blaz you did a beautiful job on the aircraft and , even with the farting probably just air in the fuel line popping like a fart in the combustion chamber and, out thee exhaust . You always have those engines running perfectly , I always enjoy petrincic , RC videos beautiful country many good prayers in the name of Amanuel , Jesus Yahshua ah Meshiah , have fun .
You changed the windsock! Yay!!! LOL! I'm still watching as I type. I really hope this works as I kind of like this one. Blaz is a really good builder... Ok back to watching. Oh no! No elevons? What transmitter was he using? It would have been super easy to put elevons in. Ohhhhh noooo I was looking forward to this. I have flown a lot of flying wings and I've never used rudder. It might turn with rudders but if it did it would be pretty ineffective I think.. Ok we will wait. LOL! It was a fun video though!!! LOL
Definitely needs elevons I would think but I've never flown a flying wing either lol but I have one that I need to try out! Definitely looks really good and fast!
WHATS DIS ? NO AILERONS 😂! WE FORGIVE YOU BLAZ ! NOW SET YOUR RADIO TO DELTA AND RESET TRAVELS ! DOUBLE Y THE RUDDER TO THE STEERING AND YOU WILL BE FINE 😊 GREAT VIDEO MY FAVORITE BROTHERS 😊
This is real RC life 😂. You guys are the absolute best!! The lesson here for me is to always remember to bring a second model that is easy to fly and I know works so that at least I get some flying time in😂
Well spotted Robert but I know how blaz is feeling especially if it’s his first flight in ages lol at least it’s in one piece big salute 🫡 to you both, G 🇬🇧
I have faith in captain Blaz he will return and fly this plane into the sunset it was lucky that you discovered the problem before the take off I will look forward to see this sexy plane fly a grate video guys thank you for posting cheers 🛩
I have an electric version which I hand launch, they are fun to fly but very fast! You must set it up as a flying wing with rudder on the left stick. Be careful of the throws since it is sensitive. Good luck!
Hilarious video! LMAO! 😂😂😂 I could almost see the knot on Cpt. Blaz’ brain. Poor you! ❤️ But I’m confident that you got it sorted, latest when back in the workshop. 👍🏻
Look at Dis 🥰. This Old Man from Washington NC enjoying early morning video ❤️. Capt Blaz a good engine test. Good luck with the future setup. Pilot Robot I'm always laughing watching y'all 🤣. Do love me some Brothers and Alina. ✈️🧔💝💝💝
Hello my friend good to see you. I know it’s been a while. Got a lot going for me right now. I was diagnosed with leukemia, but I’m OK and taking it one day at a time I must say this video is priceless. I was down in the dump until I watched this you made my day and made me laugh. Love you buddy.
It happens to all of us I can't wait to see this one fly it looks good that's why I like this channel you never know what's going to happen😂 that's why I love this channel keeping it real
Oh no fellas good thing u said somthing Robert I salute you. You have saved the day good thing u said somthing an prevented a crashed airplane help the bro with that Robert looking forward to the next video Salute from calgary Alberta canada.
God I wish I lived there, the usa is getting stupid with no nitro, gas or remote id crap.. it makes me miss my teen years of just going to the field and flying for hours.
