I wouldn't say this is the game that brought instant replay back to the NFL because I believe it would have happened eventually, but it was the game that expedited it.
Without this, Erickson never goes to Oregon State and the Seahawks never hire Holmgren. One of the most important games in the history of American football that people rarely remember.
Even in low low def. The Jets uniforms and field just look great. Dark green. Numbers pop. Through the years with less shoulder material and diff brands, the uniforms became less sharp. And then of course, they decided to bring back Rich Kotite uniforms. Nice job. Nothing says fresh start like Rich Kotite.
I always liked the Seahawks teams in the 90's , I wish they had never moved to the NFC, they had great rivalaries and games with the AFC West teams and other teams in the AFC also...
Phil Luckett was just an unlucky SOB in the late 90s. There was this, the Thanksgiving Day controversy, and the Music City Miracle. And looking back on it, none of these were his fault. The touchdown in this game, it wasn't Lucketts call. But the call was already made on the field, and instant replay wasn't a thing yet. So he just stuck with the call that was given. The Thanksgiving game the week prior, Bettis said "Hea-Tails". Luckett went with what he heard first, which is what he should've done. Then the following year with the Music City Miracle, Buffalo fans many not like it, but the ball did not go forward. It may not have gone backwards, but the bottom like is it didn't go forward. Ergo, the play stood.
Forget the QB sneak that was obviously short at 2:21:05, but rather look at my all time greatest Bill Parcell moment right afterwards! - He's trying to get the attention of Vinny and the offense to go for 2, and when he cant get their attention, at 2:21:50 he is literally running out in full force , with all that weight, and smacks Vinny back into focus!!! It's 1 of many times that Bill typically would not let a celebration get in the way of performance and you'd think he didnt even notice that something fantastic just happened for his team- but a great coach knows that the celebration comes when theres 0:00 time on the clock, and with 1 lapse in concentration, next thing ya know victory can slip away .... But this one takes the cake as my favorite.
It was a bad call..Vinny didn't cross the goal line, but it was time the Jets had a bad call go their way...Seahawks blew it too..bottom line...1998 Jets were awesome...
What a blast from the past. I remember watching that game & seeing Testaverde do his 1-yard military-crawl over the goal line. It's kind of like doing damage to someone's parked car & then looking around to make sure no-one saw it & then just walking away. Got away with one there.
There was nothing controversial about it. It was not a touchdown at all. I was really upset about it at the time, but it worked out for the Seahawks. Unfair to Dennis Erickson, though, he deserved better.
This was every bit as bad as the Fail Mary play in Seattle with the replacement officials in 2012 but you don't hear about this one as much because it was the regular refs who blew it.
@@Acetag31 Stop lying to yourself, and avoiding reality. Mr. Magoo, could even see that the ball wasn't even close to the goal line. This was a straight-up FIRE HOSING by the NFL. Mof, it's such an easy call, everytime I watch it, it looks like the ball is a little farther away than before. 🤣
@whatsyurprob ? you clearly don't watch enough Jets games if you think I'm lying to myself 🤣🤣. This current season we're on now is proof. The Jets did not get a single roughing the passer or late hit penalty go their way this season. The ONLY team to not get that call. You can't tell me the refs have it out for the Jets. One of our QBs even broke his ribs because of the refs so don't tell me the Jets always get calls lmfaoo
