I came accross your channel because I am a Seahawks fan, but really I keep watching to learn more about the game. Thanks for teaching those of us who never played how to watch the game properly.
Yup honestly Jerome baker wasn’t to bad but this man Ernest jones is a monster of a linebacker glad u covered this man right here appreciate the vid top billin
As a lifelong Mariners fan as well, it’s refreshing to see a front office that will pull the trigger to improve the team. Our tackling has been sub-par for most of the season and I was excited to see them make these two trades over the last few weeks. Looks to be a solid upgrade and I think he is going to fight right in with our high-motor younger guys in Hall and Mafe. Thank you for your Seahawks’ coverage, you are easily my favorite outlet for coverage of my team. Always informative. 🙌
Good Lawd ! The way he filled in that 1st clip..that Guard was supposed to combo onto the LBer...picture perfect. And his gap integrity on those stretch run plays, and shedding that block.. that's coaching tape on how to play LB. Love your breakdowns Murf, you're legit the best analyst out there.
@@bloodpheonix46vincent89 I hope so, Warner is a different beast. It's so weird how some dudes just play differently. I thought Baker was lighter than Jones or Warner, but they're all within a few pounds of each other. I saw another clip of Jones playing Chicago, blitzed the A gap and flat backed their Center. Dude just blew him up and barely broke stride. Baker doesn't have that in his game. Warner does.
Baker is one of the better coverage LBs, though. Different playing styles. Baker is a Will LB through and through. Jones is actually going to be asked to play Mike for the Seahawks, so you can see the difference in playing style. Baker is still very good, to me. Just different.
3 videos popped up about this... I was like, "NOPE! Top Billin is where I'm heading to learn about this." Your videos are ahead of the others when it comes to how you speak about the game. Thank you for that!
From just looking at what you showed of Ernest, and this is the kind of play the Seahawks can expect from him, I think it’s going to be a lot easier to watch my Seahawks play when they are on D. This man is impressive. Wow! As always Murf, thanks for the quick analysis.
Your point of “come to balance” before a tackle is something that makes a lot of sense. And after explaining and watching Ernest, feels like we’ve struggled with off and on in the tackling on this team. Someone I’ve seen take some bad angles and miss some tackles is Spoon. I love my guy and he’s a stud don’t get me wrong. But I’ve seen a lot of opportunities this year where he comes streaking into the play and never really “comes to balance” and a jump cut makes him have to dive and try and tackle with his arms. Cool to see that concept explained and my brain make sense of what I’m seeing in game. Thank you for some film breakdown!
Ooooohhh I get off work and there is a trade! And top Billin is all over it 🎉🎉 I think the rams and titans may just not want to pay Ernest Jones and that’s how we got the opportunity. Willing to give up a 4th rounder and pay may be tougher for other teams- at least that’s my guess! I’m stoked! Schneider and Macdonald that’s s great move. He must also know the defense because Macdonald says he’s playing Sunday lol 😳
Great breakdown once again Murf! lol I hated this dude on the Rams and am stoked to see him on the hawks! MacDonald also said he’s going to have him at Mike and move Dodson to weak side where he’s played more which I’m also excited to see if that helps Dodson as well. JS seems to be a master at these low key mid season pickups! He’s young too which is always a huge plus. Thanks again, Murf! Always get excited to see when you roll out a new video
Damn, I never really saw him play...LOVE the disciplined tackling! I hope he spreads that philosophy to the rest of the defense. Not pointing fingers but there are far too many missed tackles this year as in previous years...too many chunk plays and yards after contact in my opinion. How would that defense rank if even a third of the chunk plays ended on first contact? Love the coverage Murph, you are the best!
I feel like things really start to click with Baltimore once they traded for Roquan smith. I feel like this has the same kind of vibe. One hell of a pick up!
Love this channel for seattle coverage. I'd like to see a film study of Josh Jobe in Atlanta . He was pulled up from the practice squad and played well on the 9 times he was targeted
Thanks, but no thanks. He was terrible here in Philly, so I need more than one game because he did the same thing here and had some commenter jumping out the window over him and battling me on him...after the next few games, I couldn't find that commenter anymore and he was so deep on the bench by then he got splinters in his ass. And I appreciate you watching the content, and take this however you must because I'm East Coast with it and don't sugarcoat things, but I don't take requests and don't have a suggestion box. I do however allow people to sponsor videos if they want to try to lead me in the direction of something they personally want. If he balls out again, I may have no choice. Woolen may be back, though?
This trade has the potential to be similar to the Quandre Diggs trade where we got him for a 5th rounder and he fit in instantly. Effectively traded a 1 yr contract LB and a 4th for a better 1 yr contract LB. Also worth pointing out the 4th round pick is not the Hawks primary pick..it's the project 4th round supplement pick from losing (I believe) Damien Lewis. He's 24, he kills the run game, Hawks have 20 million more to spend next year ( Because J. Adams is still getting paid 20 million from us this year) So..monster move to sure up the ILB core. I say extend the dude immediately and you have your ILB for the next 5 years.
Growing pains are necessary to get to where you ultimately want to go. Coach Macdonald needs some time to build out his roster to fit his scheme, ya know? Appreciate the support!
I've watched every seahawks game since Warren Moon was slinging the rock and this is one of the best in season trades the hawks have ever made. It's not going to have the same impact on the franchise as the Marshawn lynch trade but I think for this season its going to give the defense a similar boost that beast mode gave to the offense in 2010
Top Billin is great! He will NEVER admit it because he’s a true Philly fan BUT he has a soft spot for our Seahawks. As an analyst, he can give Seahawks fans a more honest perspective/assessment of our team. Better to hear 👂 it from Top Billin then to not hear it all from these other so called experts. His swag is a bonus! I’m a fan but I also appreciate his work. I respect 🫡 the work. So if you ain’t done it yet, show some appreciation and drop that dub on him! There are plenty of other fan bases that would love to benefit from this dudes talented takes on their team.
I know you've heard me say this a thousand times, so you're either a troll or just being weird: I don't give a shit about the Seahawks in any capacity that doesn't deal with business. Stop fantasizing about me liking your team, man. So annoying... I don't have a soft spot for Seattle, Georgia, Florida, Clemson, etc., or any other team that I have covered long-term that's not my team. I'm a football analyst who covers specific teams so I can master the coverage opposed to focusing on 32 teams and being average at it.
Yo what’s good Uncle Sam. I ain’t know you was a Top Billin villain. This dude Murf got the best coverage by far been watching his channel for a couple of years now. Lmk what you doing this weekend I might pull up with the family to watch the game.
If you been watching you know damn well he don’t fuck with Seattle 😂 Maybe you could say he fucks with Geno and some of the other players but that’s a about it.
@@evanvargas3170 - I cover Geno like I cover everyone else. If Geno played on a team I didn't cover he wouldn't get covered. He gets covered from a neutral perspective. Because I believe he's better than most people do, it doesn't mean it's not coming from a neutral perspective. The disconnect is Seattle fans believe my career started in 2021 when I first started covering Seattle, and they completely ignore the teams I've covered way before then and even during the same time period. The OP thinking I have a "soft spot" for Seattle is just plain weird and wishful thinking and unnecessary. If people like him would just talk football and leave out annoying stuff like that, we'd all be better for it.
Wow, this guy is for real, thank you for breaking down Field’s capabilities on the field for us, he’s going to do an amazing job for run defense for sure, he stays in his gap and is very disciplined 🤩, and knows how to tackle 👍
Nice pick up by JS. I think they are going to have Jones step in as the Mike LB and move TDod to the Will linebacker. Jones can help with getting this rush defense back on track. Appreciate the coverage as always I’ll be tuning in after the game on Sunday hopefully we can protect home field against Buffalo
All I can say is HOW?!?! How did JS pull this off? Exactly what we need though. This will clear up the too much trying to predict where the run is going and letting the edge go uncovered for long runs, but this guy has patience and should help keep some of those 7-8yd runs to shorter yardage. More 3rd and medium and 3rd and longs instead of 3rd and short coming for the opposition!
Appreciate your coverage as always!! John S. Always bout that trade action.. we trying to make it happen this year!!! Shooting for the playoffs..and they activated Lucas!! He gonna start practicing!!
Love it! If he plays like he did with LA it's a definite upgrade! Had high hopes for Baker but his lateral game & coverage was lacking a bit¿ maybe post injury /new team & scheme slowed him down regardless we do need better play at the 2nd level!! Thanks for the update Go Hawks Top Billin Villain
I was hella excited about Baker, and thought he showed promise in coverage in the beginning. The last few games (which were against good teams) Baker was almost jogging. It looked like he wasn't locked in, or injured, or something. He was taking some poor angles too. Jones mos defo had some really good games against Seattle with the Rams. John Schneider has a type. (players/coaches that pantsed the hawks when they played em)
Thanks for the look at our new lb Murph! If you have the time it would be interesting to get your thoughts on db’s Pritchett and Jobe- the hung in there and we won against the Falcons.
Love the lateral movement. I had high hopes for Baker, sure he’s still a fine backer but per my eyes (not the best) he seemed stiff going side to side this year, I think this guy will compliment Dodson a bit more. We’ll see what happens!
He was nice on the Rams; always was tough watching the decline of Bobby, and the rise of Jones; couldn’t believe the Rams gave him up and now the Titans. Has a ring too doesn’t he? He’ll be a good player, hope the guy stays healthy.
I love our new philosophy. Stop the run and make tackles or we’ll find someone who can. I wish Baker the best and I hope he does well for the Titans but I don’t think he was a good fit in this new defense.
I think he played a lot in his 2nd season. I think he played with Wagz. I meant who was there when he was a rookie and got a chance to play a little bit behind. Wagner was only there for a season... I knew a Seahawks fan would mention Wagner lolololol. I know this YT shit like the back of my hand. I can predict shit for real as it comes to fans of certain teams.
@@TopBillinSports that makes more sense. I thought it was weird when i thought you didn't know year 2 was Bobby. But I thought that's what you were talking about and no one else had said it.
Hey Murf! I wanted to ask this BEFORE the Buffalo game, where my man Connor Williams messed up twice in the worst way ... that said, OVERALL, how is he looking to you? Is he systematically part of the problem on the O-line, or is it really "just" the guards and right tackle?
I think all you have to do is pay attention to the videos, bro. I say stuff without having to focus on it. I've said that Williams hasn't played all that well to me n numerous occasions. I've shown him getting beat in various videos, too. I think he's a part of the problem. Better than the guards and RT, but not as good as he played with Miami. May need time to get his Sea Legs, though, coming back from injury.
