You know, I'm not sure destroyed is the right word. He took it to dinner, shared a wonderful meal, took it home, showed it the time of its life. This was the most thoroughly relaxed obliteration I've ever heard.

Elevated command of the harmonic structure, yet constantly melodic. Not sure I've ever heard anyone do this better.

Seamus is underappreciated. Such a great player.
@jordanleicht

I feel like he's very highly regarded by a lot of jazz fans! Saying he's underappreciated makes it seem like not a lot of people know about him but I think they do.
@MrMattSax
@MrMattSax 23 дня назад
@@jordanleichtinsiders and aficionados certainly know him, but he hasn’t risen to the recognition of Marsalis, Potter, Brecker, Redman, Garret, etc and I think that’s unfortunate. He’s clearly on a par with them all.

Just recently checked out Seamus and found him to be a very great player! Love his technics, space usage and melodic build on his lines. It's good to see how he made good uses of space without being too technical with his fast lines. Saw on a video that he played with Michael Brecker which already blew my mind!

While those negative comments are probably "tongue-in-cheek," Seamus Blake can rest comfortably among the list of others like him...Gene Ammons, Art Pepper, Alto Maddness (Richie Cole), David Sanborn, Phil Woods, Joe Lovano, Joe Farrell, Bob Mintzer, Tom Scott, and Scott Hamilton just to name a few. Listen to his notes and not view his hue.

@@kleinequietboykleinequietb7126 Woah there cat. I don't know if some other comment was deleted that warranted such an aggressive response, but as it stands this is way off base. Please, cool it and just enjoy this recording in the awe that it creates. OP simply made an observation and that he would now go listen to the original to compare. He wasn't trashing Seamus at all. You, on the other hand, practically murderer this poor guy in proverbial cold blood. As I said, if there was another comment that was deleted, then disregard this whole comment. If not, take a chill pill.
