Excellent interview. Both Connery and the interviewer seemed to enjoy it. And it’s promoting one of the best Bond films, “Never Say Never Again.” Connery is definitely in better shape and more relaxed.
Love all the bond films but my favourite is probably never say never again. For me it was the perfect Bond movie; great locations, great villain, beautiful bond girls and great sound track - and the greatest Bond of course!
I always wished that he'd have done On Her Majesty's Secret Service. To me, that would have made the ideal final movie for him. In addition, it was a poor choice for Lazenby to make as his debut. When you consider that he came back just a year or two later to make Diamonds are Forever, which was of nowhere near the same caliber, it makes it even sadder that they wasted On Her Majesty's Secret Service on Lazenby.
Thunderball is a great fourth Connery Bond film. The 007 music. Opening scene. Twice is also great. Sean was offered 5 million, and that was not mentioned in this interview, for Never
That`s not why. His star never fell. There was bad blood between Sean and the Bond producers Cubby Broccoli and Harry Saltzman for years. Sean believed they were insanely greedy about the massive Bond profits. Broccoli and Saltzman didn't want Never Say Never to be made and it was a way for Sean to finally stick it to them by competing with THEIR Roger Moore Bond offering.
