@@T-1001 yeah :/ i personally dont think hes bad he just had a bad script but just his manners and movements doesnt match fords movements at all and then you see how similar sean connery did it well
I saw this movie as a 9 year old kid with my father at the cineplex in 89. It was the bestest memory I had. We planned to watch it again after Covid, but sadly, he passed away last month, while I was in the hospital. I miss him so much.
I'm so sad to hear that. I bet that your dad is really proud of you. Among other things, you have this memory to cherish him forever. Greetings from Brazil.
The Fugitive was the movie memory I shared with my dad. After he passed in 2015 I watched it again. It helped me remember all the nuances that made it special sitting next to him watching movies.
I so understand. God bless you both. I am glad you both could share great moments like seeing this film together. Just a little bit of magic can carry one so far. All the best.
I'm sorry for your loss, truly. My dad introduced me to Indiana Jones and Star Wars when I was a kid, and it has stuck with me through adulthood. Indiana Jones will always have a special place in my heart.
Huge Sean Connery fan but you would be saying the same thing had somebody else played it well and you not have seen Sean play it. The comment you made here is one of the dumbest comments I see about any actor in any role.
LOL.. yeah i use that clip sometimes in my new hire presentations to let new employees know they need a help desk ticket to get help with their IT issues. LOL.. it makes them chuckle and puts a little humor in a boring IT presentation.
@@vickaps There's always one isn't there. Its a MOVIE man just chill out. Plenty of real world shit to deal with at the moment without that sort of nonsense.
My favorite movie scene ever, riding off into the sunset, the four horsemen. There’s something magnificent about the Jones boys, the sunset, and a perfect John Williams score!
It's such a small scene, and I didn't get it right away. When Indy is struggling to grab the Grail (Basically because he knew how much it meant for his Dad). Henry doesn't want to lose his son and says "Indiana, let it go..." For the first time he calls him Indiana. Basically Henry chose Indy over the Grail. Small bit, but it really hits home. I was so happy to watch this movie in the Theatre with my Dad.
And if you'll notice when Henry says "let's go Junior" during the final scene, indy says "yes sir!" Then takes off. You can see they've finally made it past their differences.
I can so relate to that. That movie will always be special for me because it was the last one I saw with my mother, before she died of cancer. She loved the movie, especially the line when Indy asks his father "what did you find ?" and he answers "Illumination". Apart from that, it is a wonderful movie, and the dynamic between the 2 Jones is marvelous.
I think it would've been better if Sean Connery called him "Henry" at that time. Then, the scene later when it's revealed that his name is actually Dr. Henry Jones, Jr. would've been even more impactful.
It also helps that earlier we saw just how it impacted Henry when he thought his son died when the tank went over. I think it really shocked some perspective back into him too, so it was easy for him to have that moment with Indie at the end, he didn't want to lose his son again.
@@jeffw8218 but that would have been in a similar vein to him calling Indy “Junior”. He still sees Indy as a naive boy during the main sequences of the movie, constantly unimpressed with Indy’s recklessness. Indy choosing the right grail and not trying to take it across the seal was really the first non-reckless decision he made in the film. This proved to Henry that his son was not a boy anymore, but a respectable and grown man. Which, in tandem with Indy’s desperate effort to get the grail for his father, caused Henry to call his son Indiana. The name he chose for himself. A name that everyone has used for him except one person. The person who he sought the approval of the most. His father. Henry finally calling him Indiana gave Indy that approval. There were so many emotions and plot points packed behind that one phrase “Indiana... Let it go” that just wouldn’t have had the same impact if he would have said Henry. He was accepting that Indy was his own person as a grown man. Another very impactful thing is that right as Henry calls him Indiana, the rumbling of the cavern stops. It’s quiet except for Henry’s words. It gave me chills when I noticed it. Sorry for the long comment. Have a potato 🥔
@@Thespeedrap In 2008 he walked into my church and sat in the back, watching the entire sermon then leaving. Nobody said anything until he left. I hope to be able to see Sean in Heaven :)
It's nice to look back and see Ford being relaxed and easygoing in an interview. Great movie. Raiders is a masterpiece, but Last Crusade is my go to Indiana Jones movie.
Ford has never liked interviews, he is introverted. It's visible in the old interviews too, often times. Not every time. Even shy people have outgoing moments and moods
Agreed! The first one, was the show stopper, the second was for the die hard fans, the third was the crowd pleaser and the victory lap for this legendary trilogy! There was no need for a fourth and fifth, the third brought Indy full circle and completed his character arc!!!! It was the perfect closer for the series. And Indy and his father- Ford and Connery- riding off- togethe- into the sunset, was the cherry on top! The rest was bunk! I only watch the trilogy- every Olympian year- with my family- and they never fail to delight and fulfill us! And no i haven't seen the fifth and refuse to tarnish my feeling about the original- as watching the Disney sequels of Star Wars taught me to run away when Disney comes around, these days!
This is simply a complete MASTERPIECE of a movie!! In the role of Indy’s father they couldn’t have cast anyone better than Connery. The chemistry him and Ford have in the movie, is hilarious and utterly heartwarming. Sean Connery will forever be a legendary actor, and he truly was one of the greats. Rest In Peace Sean Connery, you will forever be missed.
Raiders is by far the best in the series ... Temple of Doom is second and Last Crusade third ... that said, all 3 are great ... .. just don't bring up the 4th one and everything will be fine .
@@johnsmith-wx5fb nah, normally we're in the car or something and I just randomly say "dad" in the way Indy says it and my dad knows EXACTLY what I'm referring to🤣
Unbelievable actors, they both are hugely talented and I am huge fan of Indiana Jones and Sean Connery and Harrison Ford 🙏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏. I really miss films like this.
Just love Harrison Ford and Sean Connery!! Could watch this movie over and over again!! They are such great actor's!! Can't wait until the next indie five comes out!!
Any relationship with father and child story touches me deeply. My father was my hero, my best friend, my teacher. He taught me how to be a decent person. He taught me what courage was.
@monokhem It's as awful as George's terribly written Star Wars prequels, he surrounded himself with yes men and relied too much on bad CGI effects and horrible miscasting of actors.
That's very true. The "regular age Indy" we usually think of when we think about is actually pushing 50 and we barely focus on that. This is a testament to the character's timelessness.
😍🥰💜💜💜 still my favorite action hero( I remember when my father was working-I had just gave him my Indiana Jones theme ringtone- he told me as he was coming into work one night his phone went off (Indys theme) an his co-workers said “WOW that’s an Entrance” 😆😆😂😉 I laughed when he said that... I think that will always be one of my favorite memories of him
The Last Crusade will always be my favorite Indiana Jones movie because i love the chemistry with Harrison Ford and Sean Connery and the story was exciting and amazing 😉
The best of the Indy movies by some distance and that is saying something. I read somewhere the Indy films were Steven Speilbergs "Bond" movies so to be able to cast THE James Bond as Indy's dad is just brilliant. Plus Harrison Ford's and Sean Connery's chemistry was beyond perfect. Amazing!
While George Lucas and Steven Spielberg were in vacations during the summer of 1977 after the release of Star Wars and Close Encounters of Third Kind, Steven said to George he was interested in directing a James Bond film. George said "I have something better", and explained him the idea of an archeologist searching historical objects with great powers. And that's how Indiana Jones was born. Although, George inicially gave it the name of "Indiana Smith", and Steven suggest to change it.
They had such a GREAT dynamic. Its such an eternal shame they didnt do more Indiana Jones movies with Connery while he was still here. RIP Sean Connery.
Greetings from Scotland. ...the reason Connery was so good....being genuine not buying into any hype...always remembered where he came from. ...the template of a real man. ...he is embedded into so many childhoods that his loss has been greatly felt worldwide...r.i.p Sir Sean Connery thanks for the memories...there are many
@@hankramos8663 It was... okay. I never yearned for a geriatric Indy film. He was already feeling the "mileage" in the original films. I like some of the ideas, and the chase at the university was good, but the tone was a little too jokey. And the excessive CGI sometimes made it feel small, made for TV.. like it was filmed on a set instead of on location. Cate Blanchett is always brilliant, but this was far from her best role. Ray Winstone grates. I think it's mainly his accent. He was totally wrong for Zemeckis' Beowulf. (I digress). There are a lot of credulity straining moments. Yes a fridge might shield you from radiation, but when it's flying 100ft through the air, you will be more concerned about the broken bones and internal bleeding.
@@hankramos8663 I could have kept going! I saw the trailer for the new Indy film. It's looks quite promising. But I didn't want Old Deckard or Old Solo either.
Until "Indiana Jones V" is in the cinema, DVD and BluRay et cetera, I'll certainly say "Last Crusade" - without doubt - is the BEST in the series : movies like this won't ever be made again!.
I see a lot of the same dynamics I share with my own dad now that I'm grown that are portrayed between Sean and Harrison. It's a great father/son film.
After all these years, this movie is still the best action/adventure movie in cinema history for me. Perfect actors, perfect story, perfect direction. Great blend of action, drama, humor, mystery. Also this movie inspired so many movies and video games afterwards.
Indiana Jones & The Last Crusade remains one of the best adventure movies of all-time and two of the reasons were Sean Connery and Harrison Ford- we, the moviegoing public need to thank both Steven Spielberg and George Lucas for making this all possible. Memo to CBS, please re-air Indiana Jones & The Last Crusade, maybe on Thanksgiving night!!!
Funny thing is George Lucas proposed the idea about Indiana Jones to Steven Spielberg when he was thinking about filming the next James Bond movie. Lucas told Spielberg: "Don't do it. I have a better idea". The rest is History. Having Sean Connery, the original James Bond being Indiana Jones father was the circle being completed, as Darth Vader would say.
Connery here is only two years older than Tom Cruise currently is. With the balding head, lack of dying his beard, not shaving his head completely, it made him look 15 - 20 years older than what current day celebrities look like at the same age. Current face fills and surgeries help too, but I still feel the style things just made him look so much older than he was. He looks 70 - 75. Same age as current day Arnold Schwarzenegger.
I love that moment, where he thinks Indiana fell over the cliff and it's all sadness and, "The things left unsaid! The things we should have said! It would have only taken 5 minutes," just for the reveal that he's still alive and two seconds later it's, "well, let's carry on then!"
Best one out of the indianna movies. James bond and indy in the same film. Fantastic chemistry and everything. Would have loved to have seen both of them in an interview with allison hammond. Loved the one she did with harrison about blade runner. Harrison is like a bottle of fine wine. Gets better with each year
As a kid. My dad had Temple of Doom recored on a VHS tape and I thought that’s all their was to Indy movies. Then I watched Raiders which I assumed as a kid took place after Doom funnily enough it does. Lol. After eventually I saw last Crusade and my mind was blown when Indy’s father was introduced. I didn’t even grow up in the 80s but I still grew up with these films.
was that river phoenix??? This movie got the finest men in Hollywood. Rest in peace Sean Connery and River Phoenix. Honestly watching this video made me sad
One of the great on screen partnerships. I can think of only Newman and Redford that have similar chemistry. Last Crusade is solid gold entertainment. I’d love to see a variation in Indy 5, where Ford has the older father role, forced out of retirement to rescue his son...The only actor working today who could compete with Harrison..? That’d be Chris Pratt. Imagine those two playing off each other...
I saw this at the movies with my own father, and we both loved it and we watched it together many many times over the years, until he passed in 2009. The movie is a touchstone for me, and it always evokes loving memories of my father. Btw, he was interested In archeology and had been to the Treasury at Petra as well.
