They really did try to push him in the early 2000's Welcome To The Jungle & Evolution were big Hollywood productions & Scott was given semi-leading roles in both. I think that it was films like Bulletproof Monk that made studios think twice. It wasn't his fault. The material he was working with made him look bad. One of his most underrated films back then was Stark Raving Mad. It was dismissed as a Tarantino wannabe, but I thought it was really good.
I disagree with Sean on one thing, I think most people miss comedies like American Pie, Road Trip, There's Something about Mary, Me, Myself and Irene and the list could go from comedies in that era but the problem is the Hollywood machine is scared of special interest groups and they pay attention to a small percentage of snowflakes on social media for whatever reason. I get it, Sean doesn't want to deal with it and gave the safe answer.
There’s Something About Mary sucked. It wasn’t that funny. I only chuckled a few times throughout it. Ben Stiller is terrible, I still don’t understand how he made it in Hollywood, my guess is his parents

The world NEEDS The Stifmeister, loud, proud and uncensored! My niece loves American Pie. It's so cool to be able to introduce a new generation to such awesome films. People still need a good laugh no matter what year it is!
I’d love to see another American pie but based around stiffler a little bit more because I’m American wedding they give him a huge character development with Michelle sister’s he really liked her and went out of his way to make sure everything went right but in the next movie he’s alone it just confused me on y they didn’t give Steve a happy ending like everyone’s married and has a family but him I think it’s about time they explore that story
I love stifler (JWS), he was a major actor during my teenagetime. I hope he stay well and I think its time to see him in movies again. Maybe not as stiffler but hey comeone why not :D
Sure you could make an American Pie these days as well. I agree with Seann AP's characters have done so morally quetionable things, but it was never mean spirited. Also teens do morally questionable things, it lays in their nature. Making comedy out of it doesn't mean promoting such behaviour in a real life. In my opinion Harold and Kumar's writers/directors did a very decent job in maintaning that raunchy AP spirit with the sensibility of times when American Reunion was done. I think we could get a new sequel in which the orignal cast would have senior kids in high school now. American Offsping, or whatever. It could be a great oportunity to make a satire on modern times and some silly, done by the numbers aspects of PC culture. But in the same time it could address all things that we now see as problematic/questionable in the original movies. It's all a matter of execution and hiring the right people to make it fun and authentic. The latest AP presents spin off is a perfect example how not to do it! Two dudes made a forced, unisnpired and safe as f*ck AP movie, that tries to up to date and give us a female take on the franchise... The concept of gender swap itself is great, so many possibilities, just hire some creative and brave female director and writer do the job, and give it an authentic female angle! And after that we could get the final movie - American Funeral. A bitter sweet reunion movie with both old and new generation coming together, to close everything up.
I think despite what people may think, the American Pie movies still have a very morally grounded audience, and I think the movies have a lot of commentary on maturity in an approach thats very honest, full on “wolf of Wall Street” style of storytelling, I think audiences would love more entries in the franchise. I think trying to adapt to being less ridiculous would be failing to what it’d be trying to get the public to engage with so it’s silliness would come off corny.. whoever would be behind the script has to be creative with intention to create more than just to fit in.
I would like to see Seann William Scott in his own American Pie spinoff called "The Stiflers" and show him with his cousin Dwight and other Stiflers we have seen and not seen on the movies.
it would be really funny to see a movie about a stiffler that ended up in the modern era of this world . i could see a ton of jokes being made including how sensitive people have got. he would never do it but i know it would appeal . i just wish these actors / directors would take a risk, instead of making medocore and soft humor for kids
If it came out today they would say that Stifler is a misogynistic sexual deviant and weirdos on social media would lose their mind. Late 90’s/early 00’s comedy was way better
You can make American Pie. Those involved with that sort of project, just have to have a spine. JoJo Rabbit exists, that's a recent film, just saying. If you're gonna be coward and limit your creativity, that's a whole other discussion, but you absolutely can make such a film. TERRANCE OUT
You've do a few things, ignore special interest groups, ignore woke snowflakes on social media and just let the free market decide like the past but studios/networks are scared for whatever reason these days. I don't get it because people want these movies back, Tropic Thinder was a big hit 14 years ago and Ted was only 10 years ago. It seems like this woke cancer really got bad around 2015 or 2016.
Complaining about "wokeness and PC culture ruining comedy" is just an admission that you don't know how to make darker or riskier humor funny. South Park is still on the air, as is It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Ash vs. Evil Dead crossed the lines of good taste in basically every episode. The reason comedies like American Pie Arendt made anymore is because they stoppen making money - because amny of them aren't actually that good.
This backwards ass modern era we are in where everyone is supposed to tip toe around trying not to offend anyone is going to be directly responsible for the return of gross-out sex comedies. Mark my words. People always crave what they can't have. I give less than five more years before we start veering hard in the other direction. I will savor every minute of it.

Sean William Scott is Delusional . The Chevy Chase / Will Farrell / Steve Corell straight man analytical kind of dead pan comedy sucks nowadays . That 80s Sex Romp style in your face zany unpredictable in your face witty clever American Pie Comedy was the BEST . It's really missed compared to this new Me Too Movement Hell the USA is in where sexual comedy is basically being annihilated to oblivion by entitled Hollywood women . Eddie Murphy even said he doesn't even know what's funny anymore being so stifled from censorship towards his iconic famous material , which is terrifying .
Todd Phillips who directed Sean in Road Trip which is so underrated and of course Todd is best known for the Hangover movies even said that he doesn't want do comedy these days because you will be censored.
Will Ferrell and Steve Carell style comedy is many things, but certainly not deadpan or straight men. And while American Pie and other romp comedies are fun, they are not clever and they don't want to be. Those kind of movies not getting made anymore has nothing to do with MeToo or PC culture, they fizzled out in the early 2010s before MeToo was even a thing. They don't get made anymore because they stopped making money. Because (like Slashers in the 80s) there were a few good ones that were successful and then loads of shitty movies trying to exploit the formula and audiences got sick of it, plain and simple. Riskier humor is still possible. South Park and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia are still on the air and Jojo Rabbit was nominated for several Oscars. If Eddie Murphy "doesn't know what's funny anymore" that's on him. Since (aside from the Shrek movies) he hasn't been in good comedies since the 90s, maybe he actually doesn't know what'sfunny anymore. Norbit, Meeting Dave, A Thousand Words, Daddy Day Care, Haunted Mansion, Dr. Doolitle 2 - those are on him. They didn’t flop because of wokeness, they flopped because they were bad. PC culture is a welcome excuse for comedians who lost their touch.
Filmakers need to have more balls, this idea that you can't make a great ranchy extreme comedy is nonsense and it's a shame there really hasn't been one since Superbad. 4 Million people signed a petition to have Amber heard removed from Auqaman 2, it probably won't happen and the film will still make a fortune, it's a small percentage of complainers in the grand scheme of things, so please make American Pie 5
How is 2023 and so on any different era for hard in your face "sex comedy" then it was back in last film from 2012 things back then were just as difficult as they are they are today nothing has changed maybe the viewing of the company's who script this shit but not the characters behind whole saga plus look at in your face sex comedies look at a few of 2022 -2023 and they made it work sure its not on same levels but still was in your face type hard R comedy " No hard feelings" , " Sex Appeal" , "Bottoms" , "Joy Ride" , "The blackening" (which mind you was a extreme racist comedy ) how could it not work with what we have had for comedies as a R rating and not too long ago like we had a all girls American Pie presents title you know what im saying guys!
Anyone who is saying it wouldn't exist because of "pc culture" or whatever is severely deluded. They can't exist because culture isn't stagnant. Even people who liked the old American Pie movies wouldn't like another American Pie or a movie like it. These production companies hire people who sole job is analytics and figuring out what people want. If people genuinely wanted another one, then they would make another one like they did back in the day and it would garner millions of dollars, but they don't because there isn't a market for it anymore. This isn't a bad or good thing, it's just a thing. It's how culture works. Same reason no one wants to see some shitty John Wayne western, we moved on.
