Searching For A Lost Mine Before It's Closed Off For Good

We need to meet up next time I'm in Utah. I have a few stories about mine carts and tracks that use to be there back in the 1970's.

The yellow flakey stuff is probably Iron (III) hydroxide. My guess over time water is slowly seeping through the mountain and bringing dissolved iron along for the ride. The iron was gradually being deposited on the wall where (under alkaline conditions) it mingled with air and water forming that beautiful yellow deposit.

I work in places like this. For your safety stay out of old mines. Its ab dumb idea to go in them..
