Searching for big Trout with Mouse Flies | Topwater Fly Fishing

What's poppin' fly fishing community! In this weeks video I tried to recreate my most succesfull video. So I went fly fishing with mouse flies at a small creek. This creek might be small but sometimes the smallest waters hold the biggest fish!
I had a great time at this creek as always when fly fishing! And topwater fly fishing is especially exciting in my opinion! Searching for these big trout with mouse flies is just an adventure itself.

in fishing sometimes you have days were its none stop action and other days its slower. also you were showing just fishing the mouse and you stuck to it. that was your mission for this video but changing flies might have produced a fish great video.

Love the videos mate. It’s going to be tough in December! I don’t know how active the trout are where you are, but here in the Uk the trout are incredible hard to catch in winter. They will hardly move even for a nymph that is perfectly presented, let alone for a streamer. They just don’t move much in these months!

Of course we do! But this video was filmed when rainbows weren't in spawning season yet😉🤙🏼

Beautiful country! I am in the US, WI and we fish mouse patterns after dark. Seems like you were stopping at dark? Just curious why the difference.

I've heard that a lot. That day I just didn't have enough time to fish the dark and to be honest casting isn't an easy task at this creek even when you see everything😅 Those overhanging trees and branches really don't make it easy. But I do plan to fish mousepatterns in the dark next year😉🤙🏼

@@WildeFische Yes I see your point, very narrow! But it looks like it would hold some surprisingly big browns. I have a few young children, so most of my fishing is done at night after their bedtimes. It's amazing how active browns will be late into the night on everything from nymphs, mice patterns, or streamers. I bet you could do really well on that creek at night with a tight-line rig and short casts to avoid the brush.

Dude thanks for the advice! I guess it's best to fish with a full moon right? Or do you fish with a headlamp?

@@WildeFische I wear a headlamp but avoid shining it on the water since it spooks the trout, so I only turn it on when changing flies or walking to a new spot. No light while actually fishing. A full moon is great for sub-surface, but it actually messes with the trouts' eyes for topwater like dries or mice. I've found that movement is key at night, whether fishing streamers or mice.
